Accepted PK Appeals / Re: Steven 'Candyman' Rhodes's PK appeal
« on: August 02, 2012, 08:51:46 AM »
If this was to be passed then it would establish a precedent for all future situations which would virtually allow me and other units to basically metagame wanted targets simply by getting a copy of their fingerprints - and ultimately that would create more drama with 'resistance opposition' than what there already is.

What? When did anyone say that getting a copy of their fingerprints gives you the right to "basically metagame"? Everyone is taking what I said and twisting it. It isn't a hard concept. We have a copy of the Candyman's fingerprints, proving that he's been processed by the combine before. People on the other thread said that the scanner wouldn't be able to positively identify him, which is why I brought up this point. The way I see it, if you've been processed before by the combine (Like all citizens are when they are put into cities), then a scanner could recognize you unless you've somehow reconstructed your face.

The fact that two, or three people agree'd that the situation was under role played and it was almost about to be accepted by purple, but it just had the wrong format. Should be enough, you can just read the last denied thread and see for yourself.

Wasn't exactly posting to support or not to support. I just wanted to clear up a misconception.

I know I'm not supposed to post here and all, but I need to make this clear.

Quote
How in the holy hell would a scanner 10-15 feet above whoever they're trying to snap a picture of manage to get a clear shot of the fingerprints? If you look at your fingerprints right now from head height to keyboard, you can't see them. Yes, we had fingerprints. But it's not like candyman was throwing his hands up and allowing the scanner to observe them.

When I made the finger print point on the other thread, I wasn't saying that the scanner took a picture of his fingers and compared them to fingerprints. What I was saying that the fact that the CCA has a copy of his fingerprints shows that he has in fact been processed by the CCA (Like all citizens are when they are placed in cities), which I would assume means a scanner could figure out who they are.

I wasn't in charge of forensics, or even working on that case when it happened, so I can't tell you much about the case; however, I noticed it in our database, and I figured that it made sense.

Even though I've never played Canals, I'd  have no problem with it. What was the map like?

It's not the map I'm in love with (although it's very, very cool). It's the creative freedom when making characters. I'm really interested to hear what the Canals were like.

It's not the map that I liked better about Canals. It was the quality of RP. I like ineu better as a map, as Canals was too linear, but the RP was overall more fun back then.

Well, as you can tell by this new uniform, I was promoted to Officer of NOVA today. I couldn't be more happy at the moment. I've wanted this position for as long as I can remember and now... well, I finally made it here. I was promoted by 03109 in the CA's office. It was weird being promoted by someone other than the DvL.

I feel like I've finally proven myself... to be apart of High Command... it's a huge achievement. I don't have much time to talk about it now. And by that, I mean that I still think private logs are stupid. I'm only making them because, well, I have nothing better to do while off duty. I plan on receiving my augments tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. ||::>

What is stopping people from playing on outlands?

I don't find RapeRP fun. Back when Outlands was Canals, shit actually happened. Me and my friends would get chased down by OTA, have helicopters tailing us back to our warehouse. Shit was great. Now you sit in a bar waiting for the next person to attempt to rape you. I'm all for PassiveRP, but in my opinion, it's just too much.

C45.CCA.NOVA-EU.280 | Adelmo Sucre
  • Hates the sight of Latinos due to the fact that they remind him of his pre-war wife and son
  • Could solve a rubix cube before the war, and still could if he had one.
  • Played guitar before the war
  • Only entered NOVA because GRID only took 03s at the time. When he became an 03 and could transfer to GRID, however, he decided that he loved being in NOVA.
  • Despises his old personality. He thinks that he should have been more like he is now.
  • Loves talking to other units in the messhall during breaks.

Yes, he's an extremely racist country musician. His music is hilarious if you ask me, but many people find it extremely offensive.

I still liked Outlands better back when it was Canals. It has nothing to do with the map itself, but the Roleplay was generally more interesting then. Last time I made an Outlands character, I was raped three times in one day. I understand that in order to get to the good roleplaying in Outlands, you have to find a group of people to RP with, but I can't seem to make it ten steps without someone attempting to A. Mug me B. Rape me or C. Kill me.

WHile I wasn't present for the event, I do have some history with The Candyman considering my Forensics team had a case against him.

In the Forensics case against Steven Rhodes, finger prints of his were found. They were used to positively identify him as the killer. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that this case was his first murder. Now, it's safe to assume, due to the fact that scanners can snap pictures of damn near any citizen in C45 and come back with a data page for them, that if we have a fingerprint to compare to the ones found, then we at least have a picture of him that the scanners to use.
While I believe some of the situation may have been metagamed, the part where "The scanner wouldn't have turned back a positive ID on The Candyman" is false based on the fact that his manifest had a fingerprint that we could use to compare to the one found at the scene. This shows that at one point, he was processed by the combine, and his fingerprints were collected, which I think it's safe to assume that they would have at the same time collected a picture from him to use for scanners.

In order for that to work, you would need an orignial copy of his fingerprint to match the finger print that the forensics team has reached.Which means that he would've needed to be detained and there would've needed to be some RP in it. I'm pretty sure that one copy of a fingerprint can indentify Candyman.

Well, let's be logical about this. Scanners can use a photo to trace the manifest of any citizen. Not every citizen has been detained. Because of this, we can assume that the Combine process their citizens before throwing them into cities. This is when fingerprints, blood samples, etc. are collected.

I bought a crate of biogel last week but thats it. Besides, do we need a medical history to squirt some green magical spunk on our booboos?

Biogel can have some serious negative effects, for example, cancer. It's not "green magical spunk", read the Official Effects of Biogel thread. And I'm not trying to be an ass here, but your constant condescending attitude is starting to get on my nerves

Bug Reports / Can't view sent PMs
« on: July 21, 2012, 06:00:48 PM »
Title pretty much says it all. I know I've sent at least three PMs, one of which was yesterday, yet when I click on sent PMs, it says that there are none to display.

EDIT: I just realized that I put this in HL2RP bug reports. If an admin could put this in the appropriate section, that would be great.
