** The writing here is smooth and relaxed, the print is uniformly spaced out and the author seems rather relaxed.

Long-time no see write read whatever, point is that there have been a few changes in the past two weeks that have kept me rather exhausted. Some of 'em good, some of 'em bad, can't really complain but they've all and all given' me a rather lax attitude on things and I'm enjoying this rather ... for lack of a better word, fresh breath of air. I can't say that I've been ecstatic about my line of work, but it pays well, enhances my skill-set and allows me to meet interesting people. I'm slowly ascending the rank ladder and am making friends with the newer fellas which is quite nice, I guess it's my rather amiable attitude. Only problem with my line of work is the competition, since I've refused "Bio-Medical and Mechanical Enhancement" I've gotta' keep myself in prime physical condition, I need to outperform all the high tech guys who are more machine then human, it's quite worrying frankly. But anyway, this is supposed to be an update, not really a list of complaints or emotions. I've been transferred into a new department due to my old one getting closed down, not too bad all my friends and co-workers get to keep their places. With the transfer I've been able to get some more time outside and walking, showing myself around on the streets and whatnot, I don't mind it, I feel that the general populace should be able to see as much of their "Protectors" as they can. Few odd things came up in the past week, I'll just list 'em here:

- Spoke to management recently, turns out they're looking for some help, and I obliged, wonder how that'll turn out.
- Took a few rounds'a friendly fire, most of 'em just pistol rounds from over-zealous newer guys, one actually hit me in the chest, SAPI plate took the brunt of the impact so I was fine aside from some light bruising.
- Citizens were acting odd, I even saw one fella' duck-walking down the street quacking, he was probably just doing it for shits n' giggles so I let 'im be. T'was a pretty funny sight to be honest, I got a good laugh outta' it.
- Sparred with one'a my co-workers, he's a pretty cool guy, likes to mess with some of the newer guys and gals for a few good laughs. It was a pretty nice fight but I got in a lucky hit to the thigh and won, looking forward to a few more.
- As odd as it sounds, I spent some time with the "elderly" even in this job where I'm supposed to be the cruelest of the cruel, I still find the elderly a source for knowledge, they've lived through life as it should be and they deserve respect. Turns out the old man was a war hero back in the 1930's during the Second Great War, World War Two, as an Allied Paratrooper as parta' the 13th Airborne, spent quite some time with that guy during a giant flood where I was locked in the Worker's Union Building with him, he's filled with stories and they aren't really too monotonous.

And that's that... a nice recap of the rather notable events of the past two weeks, there's probably more that have skipped my mind at the moment but those are what I remember now, I'll try to keep this little log as updated as I can. Whelp... I'm signin' off.

Alright... I've just sat here not giving a fuck for long enough.
Where is this ZEALOT ELITISM? Are you confusing Units taking the initiative to lead with elitism?
Because I simply don't understand, I've spoken to, role-played with and watched every single current Zealot unit and I just can't seem to follow up on your accusations. I can understand if there's a problem that you want fixed, but you are ALL providing GENERIC reasons WITH NO SUPPORTING EVIDENCE AT ALL WHATSOEVER. EVERY Zealot unit has kept the same attitude since they've been brought in, I've seen no change. So please you all clearly want something fixed, provide logs, an example, just give us something to work off of. All I currently see is mindless bitching about elitism with NOTHING AT ALL to back it up. You don't see me oocly ripping at Shield, Vice and Jury without any rhyme or reason. As a closing statement, we're all open to suggestions, we won't just shoot your suggestions down without considering them, so PLEASE get to know us before just going on rants about things you may or may not even completely comprehend.

*The writing in this entry is smooth and indignant, it is neatly printed onto the page with care and pride.

Today was a success, I feel quite proud. I and another co-worker, one whom I consider a peer or well... student and a friend apprehended a alleged rapist. I was speaking with him about keeping his calm in public, a trait which he may or may not have completely understood at the time, but later, when we apprehended the suspect(who happened to just fall into the palms of our hands), he surprised me, kept the majority of his cool and was pretty level-headed. We then brought him in and questioned him a little, after roughing him up of course. I was able to get some tender information off of him using a bit of physical and verbal coercion, all and all he was a good catch. At the moment we're keepin' the fella' overnight, not too worried for him, more worried for my co-worker, teammate, partner. Towards the end he seemed a little, vengeful... but I'm sure he'll pull through. Anyway, I'm writing this on the train-ride home, I need to get some sleep, I've got a long day filled with preparation, paperwork and mentoring tomorrow. This is me again, signing off.

*The text here is written quite suavely, the lettering is smooth and uniform while the words appear to be written in a single sitting.

I'm really falling behind on these logs, probably due to the sheer amount of work that I've been doing. It's physically taxing but nothing that I can't handle. Spent some more time at my apartment, cleared it of all the shit that wasn't supposed to be there and went through with a little spring cleaning, living in that mess sucked. All and all, yesterday was quite a nice day. I got to speak to the Division Leader of the medical division, he's a pretty relaxed guy, surprised me a bit but also changed my opinion on the "rankers" that we've got. Most of them seem to be confusion doing a good job, with being assholes but that's alright, I'm in no place to judge. Hung out with a few old friends in the force, shot some shit, both literally and figuratively. Spent some time scratching off a few optional training courses due to a bit of free time, so I got something productive done.

The day was pretty quiet until sometime at night, we got a call about some drug smuggling and prostitution rink. Got my guns locked, cocked and ready to rock and was a bit excited to use my trophy. Once we had the plan ready I was set as team one's squad leader, I was excited and little jumpy, I could feel the blood pumping through my ears during the whole raid. I didn't end up doing much, but this was the first time that I was really in potential danger of getting shot and I feel like I fit the position well.

Our job was pretty easy and simple, we just had to sweep the rear areas and block stray citizens from getting to the main force. Everything was going quite well until I crossed some fella' who didn't seem to well, to put it bluntly, gave no fucks about our presence. He just sort of walked around and smiled, not really taking notice to the fact that three of us had our weapons trained on him. A little later I was holding a point off and the same fella' turns the corner, smiling from ear to ear, I found this a bit odd so I told him to back off and was pretty adamant about it. He decided to play cute with me and take a step closer and slide his hand into his pocket. At this point I thought this guy was some sort of suicide bomber, bent on blowing the two of us to hell to I brought my rifle up, aimed for center mass and popped a round off. The aftermath was just... devastating... it looked like his entire torso/stomach abdomen area was blown out and onto the wall behind him, just... damn. The sight made my skin crawl and I just sort of watched while he sat there and smiled, holding onto what was left of his digestive tract.  or rather, lack of a digestive tract.
Well uh... after that, the sweep shortly ended and we apprehended about ten or so people, good day aside from the impromptu evisceration of that guy. Reading through this thing, it's quite hot and by that I mean it's got some incriminating shit on me, probably going to leave this here, in my apartment, I doubt it'd be found, seeing as I live about a train-ride away from this District.

*This entry is written in a much more laid back fashion, the words are neatly spaced out and are written with care.

Lookin' over a few of these past entries and I'm just... on fire with rage. I guess it was just from the string of injuries and pure incompetence displayed by some of the Units. But now... I'm just calm, relaxed and a bit happier. Yesterday was a bit on the hectic side and was a bit of a nice change in pace. Some Overwatch Soldier malfunctioned and it took a crane to get it out I tried to stay back and let the other Units take care of it. They were able to corner him into the inner airlock and that's when all hell broke loose. He jammed the door behind him and set up a kill-zone, mowing down any Units that entered, which a few did but learned quickly. I took this time to pull around with another Unit and fashion an impromptu breaching charge out of a few grenades. Then blew the door open after a I heard a small explosion, entering to finish the Soldier off with a twelve gauge to the face. Asked around and it seemed like the command officials were fine with me lugging his AR2 around as a trophy for the time being, I might talk to one of our Commanders about getting trained to use this thing, looks mighty complex. But continuing on, there was quite a high casualty count after my little accomplishment, there were a few Units giving the injured ones first aid, which was a bit of a refreshing change from the norm, I then had them bring the Units down to the Medical Bay where we spent about... four five hours to patch them all up and get the combat ready. Couldn't really write yesterday due to being pretty fuckin' tired afterwards. Oh and almost forgot, we took another Unit in on trial, I'm really hoping that he makes it in, he seems like he'd be a nice asset to our lil' group. Whew... hope this new-found calm lasts longer than the rage.

*The writing here is written neatly yet darkly, it appears that the author really jammed the end of the pencil against the pages, probably writing through rage or depression.

Promoted. I'm now holding an 01 position, placing me at the top of the rank chain. I view myself as a teacher or mentor to the less experienced Units. A myriad of Units are now looking up at me, asking for orders, advice, camaraderie. I don't want to let them down, they are my brothers in arms and I represent the highest echelon of Division's food chain. I tore my way up from the bottom and survived long enough to get this far and I'm damned proud of it. I've been currently doing my best to keep the Units trained... the job's pretty fuckin' demanding but I'm up to it.

Shit... some of these Units are dropping like flies... taking hits left and right, our medical division... Shield does fuckall, they're only there when you don't need them. For the past few days I've been manning the medical bay, pulling foreign objects out of the bodies of various Units, shards of glass used as weapons, shivs made from shards of potted plants, a citizen even tried to beat a Recruit down with a can of soda... Shit! Life is hell for 'em. Tryin' to keep myself together internally but... it just ISN'T working. Keeping my usually cheerful demeanor is getting quite difficult, even around good friends. Fuck.

I've taken...tooken...took... FUCK! taken up drinking and anti-depressants, both being contraband... they helped. Am I not cut out for leaders... Fuck that noise, I'm BORN for this, I'll push through whatever struggles are present, I just can't let these Units down. I won't let them down. I guess the only good thing I can say about myself is that I'm still human, my Divisional Leader has given me the O.K to skip out on the mandatory augmentations and surgical procedures saying those would hamper my performance, I'll just make up for it with more P.T.Writing has helped me quite a bit, I'm glad that I can get this baggage off onto paper, it really feels as if I'm letting it out to the world, relieving myself of this burden, yet still keeping it secret at the same time. FUCK I'm starting to sound like one of those whiny bitches depicted in teen romance films. TOUGHEN UP GOD-DAMN IT!

** This entry appears to be written in a more relaxed fashion, less emphasis is put on expletives.

Shield fucked up again today, another Unit, someone who I view as quite a nice student, always willing to learn took a stray pulse round to the abdomen, tore up his stomach pretty FUCKING badly. To be honest, I thought he was going to die, bleeding there on the streets against the wall. I just couldn't will myself to leave him be, I-... without thinking acted on instinct, providing first aid to him while keeping him calm, I could just feel his blood on my hands, soaking in through my gloves... just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. After stabilizing him I turn to my left and to know surprise, I see a Shield Unit, just fucking standing there. I just couldn't believe it, our medical staff is about as helpful as ANA were in fucking Afghanistan, FUCK THEM. I was then able to get the Unit into the Medical Bay and called in for a few Senior Shield Units to assist me with the surgery, like I predicted no fucking response, is ONE call not enough? I might have to speak to their Divisional Leader about this, un-FUCKING-acceptable. Put the Unit under and fixed him up-...I'll finish this up later.

Whelp... today was alright, Been an Oh-Two for a while, the job is quite nice get to order people around and I feel good about it.
Spoke to a recruit today, had some interesting conversations with her, tired as hell though. Haven't seen Lance in quite some time
he's probably doing something off duty or some other work... who knows. Don't quite know why everyone pours out their hearts over their
terminals, any tech-savvy person can just pull up those logs with relative ease. Was able to decrypt a few ones, pretty boring stuff, people
seem to be pretty torn up by working with Civil Protection but I like it. Good food, good pay, good conversation. I don't quite get why I'm writing these logs but I guess they're a good way to pass the train ride back home. Might also come in handy when it comes to memory replacements, if I ever submit to getting those. I'm off to bed, will probably write more tomorrow.

Today was pretty damn exhausting, to say the least. Mostly mental exhaustion though. Life inside of the CCA is different now that I'm the one pissing in the lemonade and not the one's drinking. Lower ranking units come to me for requests, not the other way around, it really feels like I get to lead, like I matter. The deaths of citizens seem to be haunting me less and less every day of the job, which is nice because I REALLY need the extra sleep. Hung around in the train station as well and had a few drinks with Lance, it all was pretty good, relaxing and enjoyable, pretty different from a normal day's work. Later in the day something happened, I was taking a bit of a nap inside of Hand to Hand, heard some screaming from medical and booked it there. Did some minor surgery on a few units who were injured, mostly basic flesh wounds, they'll make it out alright. One of the higher up, an Officer I believe, helped me out with a unit with a severely sprained ankle. He didn't really help much, he sort of just came in, did the easiest job and swooped up what little of the glory that was present. Well uh... I'm signing off here, I'll probably write more tomorrow.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Changing the Combine Civil Authority
« on: April 27, 2012, 09:43:06 PM »
Personally, I don't see the problem with the current status of the CCA(Units numbers, ranks, etc.) It isn't really the "name" that makes a player RP more human, it's the role-player themselves. Sure... maybe this "renaming" might push players towards rp-ing more humanely but they can do that already, I doubt anyone would have problems with Units calling each other names over their digits. Although Civil Protection isn't the greatest example for canon, it simply depicts two not so stellar Units going along with their monotonous lifestyles. Anyone can follow that example and form a bond with another if not many other units, a single Unit might even be on a first name basis with everyone. What I'm trying to say is that, I'm down for this change but I don't really think it'll do much due to roleplay quality being in control of the roleplayers themselves, not the script around them.
