Title: Britain: the north/south divide

So the most common thing I hear from all the guys at work is that northerners are better (harder) workers and that southerners are more intelligent, obviously thats not true but I must say northern accents are funny as fuck. To the guys living up north, what do you think of the southerners, and to the guys living south, what do you think of the guys up north?

Im not trying to start a flame war but I just want to know if there I a stereotype like what was portrayed in the film, myself being from London, I get on with northerners fine, but i've had the odd brush against a northerner who'se just been a dick.

this train station is like 1 stop away from my town and 70% of the people in south yorkshire literally have the iq of a monkey and is the breeding ground for chavs

in short, while the other 30% are alright and i like my accent, i dont like the north with the exception of scarborough which is on the coast in north yorkshire

however i wouldnt even go to live in the south (mainly london and around it) because both times i visited london the accent londoners have irritated the fuck out of me. I would rather live abroad somewhere than live in england

I think most people from England would rather live abroad and stay away from the shit at home lol

All I know about the English dialects in Britain came from my highschool senior year of English.  Supposedly, the North has more of a Norwegian/Viking influence where as the south was more influenced by French/Saxon culture.

On the other hand, I have to agree that Northern accents are just too funny:

I don't think much of the Northerners, their just English people who happen to be a tad bit colder is all. Not much difference really between North and South, accent varies a bit, but the people as far as I know are basically the same. I got some family all the way up in Manchester, their just like us down in London, bit more snobby maybe, but otherwise the same. My sister goes to Sheffield University, and I know some people up there as well, again, pretty much the same as us down south. And if you go further North, all the way up to Scotland, yeah they might not like the English, but their still the same British people, it really doesn't vary that much.

Same is wales too, haven't been to Norther Ireland though, but I expect the differences aren't huge. I would say however, that you can get quite a lot of differences depending on the kinda place your at, generally in working class estates, people are gonna be different from the people in Middle Class Suburbs, and their gonna be different from people living in Upper Class parts of central London aren't they? Well that's what I think at any rate.

That thing you speak of, the pyramid with middle class in the middle, and working class at the bottom whats it called?
I'm sure I was taught that in school but I've completely forgot

And I'm just sitting here, being Scottish. I feel like a Stark or something. Fucking England don't know true north, the land beyond the Highlands, where the lands are barren and desolate- and really fucking cold.

we ride from winterfell, if we go far enough north to ullapool we reach a 700ft high wall of ice to keep out the ice warriors beyond
