Honestly, I would go with an intel and nvidia build if you're willing to spend the money. It's better quality, and that's really a fact. AMD is cheaper because, well, it's not as good. But buy what you want.

Also, what are you going to be doing with this PC? If just gaming, stay with an i5 and 8gb ram.

how is that a fact and how is amd not as good, they are a lot better when it comes to price vs performance and they can more or less equal nvidia cards for less price

Make another thread for that, please.

AMD is good for a budget build, but since he's willing up to $1200 you may as well spend it on quality like intel. AMD is par with Nvidia, I'll say that. They make good GPUs, but when it comes to processors I think you should just spend it on intel if you can. Intel is better for gaming, but AMD is good if you're on a small budget.

Altered Warren's list and put in the Phenom X4 965 Black (AMD FX-8 CPUs are effectively 4 core CPUs with 8 logical cores instead at a higher price, and the Phenom is still great if not slightly better if you are just going to be gaming on your PC), 8GB RAM (you don't need 16GB for a gaming pc) and a MSI 7850 twin frozr 2GB OC (because the 7850 can run just as good as the 7870 when overclocked and is just amazing for overclocking as it can be pushed way beyond it's stock speeds). Overall it is a cheaper build for just as good performance.

The Phenom's are so out of date it would be pointless to get one. And the FX-8350 runs about 3x better in a gamin environment

System Specs
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core processor @ 4.6 ghz
RAM: AMD Radeon™ RP1866 Performance Series 16GB
PSU: Ultra X4 750W
GPU: EVGA GTX 780 Superclocked + PNY GTX 550 TI for physx core

I'm just really using it for gaming and maybe fraps when I play CG but, I would like to run like skyrim Ultra and like other graphic demanding games.

Yeah, stay with an i5 if you're just going to use it for gaming. i7's are good for rendering, modelling, etc. The only difference between an i5 and an i7 is the multicore hyperthreading, something games don't take advantage of yet.

This should play most games on Ultra. If you want, you may be able to get a cheaper motherboard and upgrade to GTX 670 graphics card.

Edit: Are you planning on overclocking? If so, you'll want to get a CPU cooler. Also, do you need an OS? That'll set you back $100. I upgraded the build to a GTX 670. Also changed the optical drive to a blu ray one.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/15fMu

Okay, since it's in your budget I went ahead and switched over to an i7 and 16gb ram.

CPU
HDD
Case
GPU
RAM
Optical Drive
Motherboard
PSU
$1225 including shipping. If you want it less than $1200, drop down to 8GB RAM.

16GB RAM is a massive waste if all you are going to do is game and fraps, at max go for 8GB and save your money

recording with just about any program at 8gb ram will be completely fine, although instead of using FRAPS you should use OBS: http://obsproject.com/

it allows you to both livestream and local record and is less intensive than fraps so ye unless you are going to be doing some intense shit on your PC which all you are doing is gaming and recording videos by the sounds of it, 8 GB is fine

Stop suggesting crap.
If you want to record and edit for Youtube on professional level, get 16GB and use DXtory as recording software.
RAM is cheap as fuck, and trust me you'll need it if you plan to render and export HD quality videos.
For example I am rendering 1080p quality videos with 16GB RAM and I easily take up 13GB. And I can still easily browse the Internet and YouTube meanwhile.

I'm going to have to agree with Nick, here. For an extra, what, $20 you can get 8GB more? It'll be worth it in the long run if he decides to start recording and rendering.

8GB might just do it, but you won't be able to do anything else on your PC while you are rendering for an hour. With 16GB you can easily do other stuff while rendering, saving yourself a lot of time.

OBS is also only good for livestreaming. Don't even try to suggest it for professional level recording, as it is just shit. You know yourself that I did try it, and I have nothing but issues, issues and more issues. If it wasn't for the bad quality video, it would be for bad audio desync or the fact that you can only record one audio source.

1. instead of sitting at your pc while you render a video, its always a good idea to spend a break from your pc and actually do something in the real world

2. obs is COMPLETELY FINE for any sort of recording, both for fun and professional recording thank you very much

3. 8gb ram is completely fine for what hes going to be doing and like most youtubers out there and like i said earlier, while you wait for something to render you can always do something in the real world, breaks are important from the computer

4. plz do not call yourself a professional youtuber again it made me lol especially since you are partnered with the same network i am

im being straight to the point, you are shooting my suggestions down and coming up with worse suggestions to him so please stop
