Please, flame and math are the two things most hated on the internet.

1. If your saying a=x then that is the answer.
2. Why are you adding a to both sides in the first place.
3. The final 'simplify' doesn't work due to the fact that only works when things are being multiplied, not as an equal to.

It seems the answers needs to be No solutions or All solutions because  A=X can be any digit which means all solutions, If 2=1 is the answer it's no solutions because X or A would need to equal the digit 1 or two. And as what nikoali said with your final outcome with 2(a-a)=1(a-a) would equal 0=0 so it's an error in math then because you're dividing by zero.

Alongside that, if your saying a=x then a would have to be equal to x, being that of the same number - so therefore 2=1 is wrong.

According to my textbook, everything he's done in here is right, except for the last step, where he divides by (a-x) which equals zero because a=x. So..case closed. You guys can argue about anything else wrong here, but there isn't anything else wrong. It's only the last step.

Many textbooks are different to others due to specifications and such.

There are a few errors in there, and its not as if im retarded, I got an A grade in GCSE(up to 16 yo) and im doing A level mathematics at college.

Its a random equation where he adds stuff for no given reason, the middle is okay and the end is wat.
