Just curious how far along we will be starting.

If we start new, how far back are we going?

I'd love to see the HECU like in hl1, some of the coolest units in video game history.

My question is more meant for the HL timeline as we could be jumping far ahead in or before freeman leaves the mesa facilities.

I am really unsure

you might want to study up on canon. Freeman left black mesa shortly after the resonesance cascade. It was ~2000 when that happened. Then there was a great deal of time between then and the 7 hour war. After the 7 hour war, it was estimated freeman didn't show up till 2020. The dates aren't official though so we won't have freeman show up next year.

Currently we are in between the 7 hour war and freeman showing up.
