Title: Donate for custom models
Post by: Krisrules on April 30, 2014, 11:15:31 AM
Quite simply, I suggest the thread title.

Pro's

Adds more incentive to donate
Makes our HL2RP server that touch more unique (the opportunity to stand out via playermodel)
Can go hand in hand with PAC3

Con's

People may argue elitism
Over the top custom model requests
Possibly limited only to the one character which would mean a PK would screw it

Other points to note

I've no idea how it would work, but the suggestion itself is what I wanted to get out. Ive put in the cons section that people would argue elitism however the opportunity would be available to everyone, as it is a donation suggestion.

Please post any questions, queries or complaints on my suggestion

I'd like this. I can't find any of the good PAC citizen props, and as a result my citizen is really bland.

I want to get the TnB citizen pack in soon, but if you want your own model you can always consult RoflWaffle about it.

probably should point out that any custom donated models wouldn't be compatible with the clothing item plugin

It wouldn't be? News to me. (not really sarcastic, haven't heard any issues before lol)

As long as the custom model is of a human and sticks to the default Valve bone names, I don't see why would the model break the clothing plugin. Maybe raged meant to say that non-human models aren't compatible with the regular clothing items, though I find that rather obvious.

You dumping the whole TnB pack on server? It's rather large.

I thought of making an excerpt, but we'd have to create our own Workshop item for it and since we aren't the authors, it's against the Steam Workshop terms of use. I have yet to think about this a little further.

I'm fairly sure CW has some clothing system, just that we haven't been using it

True. For me personally I still have to download a load of models upon joining (Still not figured out why it insists on repeating them)
As for others, might work against us drawing in new players especially having a large amount of stuff to download.

Workshop downloads are quite fast (except when the whole Workshop is down).
You're redownloading the models everytime you join because they haven't been put up to FastDL I think, I should solve that out soon.

i was under the impression the bodygroups would only work for the tnb models and that the ic items based off changing those bodygroups would only be applicable for those models
