Mankind will always be what it is...

Whether it is frowned upon, or seen as a saviour among itself...

It has made but one mistake...

The snake wished to become a free man...

Yet we denied him that peace...

And now we share how it came to be...

That the snake sought vengeance...

Metal Gear: Silent Snake
Prologue

The red-haired man felt disgruntled. His life was detaching by the minute. He wore an orange Hawaiian shirt, short jeans and sandals. He had one working eye, and a bushy red beard. He went by previous aliases in an earlier life, but he preferred David now... David was a calm name. David sat in the beach chair, stroking back his mid-length red hair, and stroking his beard. The wine's taste had long disappeared from the previous bottles he'd had, meaning he'd lost the joy in drinking at all. His electronic eye stung every once in a while, as though someone was prodding at it, but it did not matter, for the pain felt at ease after some time. He called a tall Asian man in a dining suit towards him, as he took out his wallet.

"This'll do for the drinks, right?" He said, speaking the treasured language of Japanese. He raised 20 dollars from the wallet and held it out to the man.

"Certainly sir, it should cover the rest of tonight's beverages also." Replied the man, also speaking Japanese. He pinched the small paper from David and placed it in the pocket located on his chest.

"You seem rather agitated tonight sir. Care for another bottle?" The butler said once again.

"No thank you... it's just... the bad dreams. I feel like it's all happening again." He said, taking a small syringe out and jamming the needle into his arm. A small sigh of relief escaped his lips before he quickly pulled the needle out.

"Well, I must say sir, you look like you've grown younger as the years go on here, rather than the typical phrase of the years affecting you here." Said the butler, smiling and walking away, tray in hand and several empty bottles atop.

"Yeah... that's what worries me." David said to himself, preparing himself for another, gentle slumber, unless the dreams were to return, and eventually reach out into David's inner-most fears. As he laid himself down, a rather large, unsteady man approached David. He wore a green military outfit, complete with several medals and badges. He pointed his finger towards David as he began speaking to two other men, one wearing a plain suit, with a small American pin on the collar, and the other wearing the same, but with a Russian pin on the other side. As he stepped over to David, David heard the man's footsteps, and clenched his fist. He sat on the beach chair next to David, smirking as he began a conversation.

"So... David... The years haven't treated you well have they?" He said, straightening the documents within the small dossier.

"Two things. One, should I know you? Two, should I care?" He replied, closing his eyes and preventing all eye contact what-so-ever.

"To answer both, would the La Li Lu Le Lo help you in any way?" He said, as David tensed at the sentence, giving in and staring at the man.

"Haven't heard that name in a while..." He said, attempting not to sound intrigued, but failing at every possible chance.

"Not surprised. You went under many aliases David. But we both know the one you're most famous for." He replied.

"Why are you here?"

"To brief you one last time. FOXHOUND REVIVAL was a little displeased with your sudden retirement, and we'd just like you to do this one more time... as a leaving gift."

"I can't... I promised someone that I wasn't looking for trouble any more. I just want a normal life." He said, sitting up. The man tried to clutch at his arm, but suddenly, David flipped the man and held his arm around his neck, pointing a knife to his throat that he suddenly produced from his shirt. He grunted as he did so. As the man coughed up sand and pushed at the arm, the man replied once more.

"You gave up normal long ago David... Metal Gear... it's back..." The man barely choked out, before David let him go and pulled him up, his face in a state of shock.

"No... who could... why would they... how?" He asked the man, as he dusted himself off, sat back down and picked the dossier back up.

"Remember an old pal under the name 'Psycho Mantis'?"

"Of course... a good man in his final breath."

"He's been seen walking the streets of Tokyo."

"Impossible, he died twice, once after his little 'event' with me and... a woman I knew. And the second time after he revealed his ordeal in the 'Raging Beauty' incident."

"Yes, but it appears his psychokinesis is allowing him to possess the bodies of military officials. We worry that it's getting to the point where he'll be able to possess corpses." The man said, producing a small laptop will a logo of a large "O". David was reminded of an earlier memory of an old friend.

"We are fully aware that the mission may not be the best considering your recovery from FOXDEAD's latest effects. The cells repairing inside of you was an unforeseen side effect which we'll have looked into... For now, onto briefing." He spoke.

"You may remember your comrade's brief encounter with a female known as 'Fortune'. Able to deflect weaponry at such a rate unseen by the government."

"Yes, she was killed after saving me and Jack from an oncoming missile from a RAY model Metal Gear."

"Killed? Or just waiting for another creep like Mantis to possess her?"

"What do you mean?"

"Her ability allowed an ominous version of herself to roam the Earth, and she saw what was left of her lover, 'Vamp'."

"So I've got a pissed off ghost after me, happened before."

"David, I'd love to tell you this once that it was a ghost, but Mantis had other plans..." The man said with ease, David staying silent for a moment, not needing to decipher what the man was getting at.

"You mentioned a 'FOXHOUND REVIVAL' before?"

"Yes, with the help of Mr Rory Campbell, we were able to obtain the locations of several previous members including Jack, Mr Emmerich, Rosemary and other such previous members. We've revived the previous militia-group FOXHOUND and wish for you to join."

"Well... I don't know if I can go back. You know how much I lost back then."

"Don't you think the team would love to meet again?"

"... I suppose so." He said, rising up from his chair. "Just give me a summary of the debriefing."

"Well, a Japanese soldier under the name Titan has made the new edition of Metal Gear, SCREAM."

"Jesus... what's new?"

"Nothing much, Titan, so far, has only revealed that the model is a hybrid between previous designs of Metal Gear, meaning this one could be the biggest challenge yet. He plans to unleash several models of SCREAM unless the UN pulls out of the latest bill to hunt down the rebel groups in Japan."

"You mean the 2015 rioters against President Haroshima?"

"It would seem so."

"So, Titan has a team I assume?"

"Yes, a group known as T.B.R.F, or extended, The Bloody Red Fists. They plan on a world economic collapse and presidential collapse of every country, in order to liberate the world once more."

"It's like the first briefing all over again..."

"Yes, except this time, we don't know what more we can do without you." David sighed, buttoned his shirt and stood.

"Alright... brief me on the way to the airport... I'm in."

"Excellent. Your nano-machines should still be working so the codex is fully operative. We hope you enjoy the new design."

"Sure..."

"Oh and David, you're going to need a new suit." He said, tossing David a small latex suit.

"You're now under the codename Silent Snake. Solid was taken by your new partner."

"Partner?!" Yelled Silent, as the man chuckled.

"By the way, the name's Jonathan Campbell. Son of Rory Campbell." Said John, straightening his tie and heading to a limo with the two previous men. Silent placed his old FOXHOUND pin onto his chest.

"Just like the old days..."
