Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
Jonathan SeVille was born in a mediocre family, in Estonia. Jonathan didn't have a common name in that area, that's because his parents were immigrants from America, who moved there due to hardships, Jonathan doesn't know much about life before Estoni and he never brought it up with his parents. Well he had a pretty decent childhood, had lots of friends, he was a smart kid, but one thing about Jonathan, was what people would call special.
At a very young age John had began tinkering with objects, he was asking questions like 'How does electricity work?' and 'What is the main component in a car engine?', he began practising with small science kits at first, then moving onto actual electronics, under parental supevision ofcourse, he was only 7 at the time. A few years later he got into tech aswell, computers, consoles etc. He did basic programming, his favourite subjects were chemistry, physics and IT, although many may have considered him a nerd, he still kept up his physical health aswell, besides all this he had an interest in the military, because his dad had been a high ranking officer in the military and he saw him as quite the rolemodel, his mother represented the more intelligent nature of his personality.
After graduating highschool Jonathan gladly went to server his mandatory 6 months in the military, which was (is) law in Estonia. He was quite disappointed at first, due to the lack of any learning or studying during his military training, but then he discovered specialities in the military and he immeditalelly fell in love with the engineering position. He found the perfect combination of what he loved, military and tech, he was overjoyed. Well.. the time finally came and those six months just flew by, Jonathan still wanted to stay and make this as his primary career and skip college overall, but his parents would not let him, but he talked them into letting him join the military if he were to finish college.
John went to the 'Tartu University' in well.. Tartu, a large city in Estonia. He immediatelly chose to major in IT and physics. Overall his progress in college was remarkable, he had a goal and wanted to thrive towards that, he knew after graduation, he could continue his line of work in the military. So he studied hard, knowing that if he got a higher education he may become a higher rank in the military and get to take part in more advanced military technology development. Well his goal was certain and he had the will to carry it through, surely enough he graduated. After arriving home, he didn't even stay for two days, he just ran off to the military.
Jonathan was gladly accepted and placed into the 'Kuperjanovi' batallion, known well for their engineers and skilled fighters in Estonia. But before he could get into more advanced subjects, he had to earn his ranks. So he voulenteered for missions into Afghanistan, knowing full well the risks he had to take for his craving of higher knowledge. He carried out his missions as a squad engineer, even in tough situations he would always use his head and be resourceful, he had also often 'modded' the military vehicles or equipment, for superior performance. But the higher ups did not like this, but he still continued on, his squad buddies kept his secret well.
During one of the missions they had to deliver medical supplies to a small village near Baghdad, they had two humvees and a truck in their convoy, the truck storing the medicine. On their way there, they were ambushed and the leading humvee exploded due to driving into a landmine, Jonathan quickly swerved around the road and past the truck, driving his comrades into the safety of a nearby alley, that was in cover of enemy fire. His squad moved back to secure the truck, Jonathan got shot in the right shoulder trying to help his comrades get to the truck and drive off, the managed to do it. John was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, luckily the bullet went straight through and the bone suffered minor fractures. A few months later he was back in service, but events like that did not occur anymore during his time in the military. After a year, John had achieved the rank of 1st. Lieutenant and was now ready for a simple desk job in a research facility.
He was stationed in a military research facility on the Paldiski peninsula in Estonia. There he got a better understanding and an education of higher military grade technology and weapon and vehicle manufacturing. Again he was overjoyed, he got good pay and was happy and satisfied, he had reached his goal, his next goal was just to benefit his country with his knowledge and help advance the military into a new future.
Although that all changed, when the portal storms began happening, Jonathan knew something was terribly wrong and that something horrible was going to happen, fearing for his loved ones he quickly hurried home to his parents to see how they were doing. He lived under the radar for that time, doing research at home, via his computer. When the war began Jonathan knew that if he was discovered to be a military officer and tech savvy, he would surely be killed, because most of his buddies had gone silent, the ones that were still alive warned him of this, he immediatelly went to his computer and hacked into his governments database and deleted himself from it, giving him a blank slate and not getting him killed. Although he still forgot something, his father. He had served in the military aswell, his father was taken away by force from his home, never to be heard from again, Jonathan expected the worst.
Him and his mother were moved to a nearby combine controlled city, he lived there in misery, he knew he could no longer satisfy his hunger for knowledge, his spirit was broken, as was everyone else's and he died inside, the man formerly known as Jonathan died. He kept living his mundane and boring life, living off of rations, forgetting more and more about who he was and what morals he held dear to himself, his mother also passed away soon after, she had been ill from cancer, but had not told Jonathan to not worry him, things could not get any more down for him, he had hit rock bottom.
On his way home one day, he was mugged, he was beaten sensless, but he remembred the faces and clothes of those who made his shitty existence even more unbearable. For the man had nothing left in him except anger, he made a makeshift knife and went out to get revenge. He had finally found the two punks who had robbed him, but as he was about to stab one of them, the other fell down, whilst pulling down a large curtain revealing a starving family, he saw that the two were only boys and that they stole his tokens to buy food for their family, Jonathan threw his knife away and ran. He knew he had nothing left, but that triggered something in his mind, his anger was nolonger pointed at himself and his life, but rather at the Universal Union, for what they did, he realised that they had been the only blockade between him and his previous life, he wanted his old self back..
He set a goal and as determined as ever he was dead serious about fulfilling it, he was going to escape the city and join a resistance group that he had heard of in the slum districts of the city. He began digging and performing several acts of vandalism and taking part in anti-Combine propaganda, he worked his way into the underworld of the city, gaining trust among the rebellious people. He was finally offered a chance to escape the confines of this desolate place that was the city. They began making preparations and collecting supplies for the journey that was to come. Food being the main resource requiered for his endeavour. After weeks of planning the plan was set, John and a group of refugees were going to escape the city via an abandoned sewage tunnel.
The timing was perfect and the weather was great, it was an early morning, the sun was still rising and everything was quiet, it could've been about 6 or 7 am in the morning. They made their move, they got out of the city. But they reached a swamp, it was filled with dead bodies of those who most likely tried to escape aswell, there were shells imbedded into the ground around the area, so they knew to look out for necrotics, the air was thick with the smell of rotten flesh, it was quiet, eerie even, when suddenly one of the group members stumbled into what could only be described as acidic waste, the man screamed like a pig, as his skin slowly melted off his bones, alerting all the creatures of their presence, they began running. Moans and screams of the 'undead' could be heard coming from every direction, everyone ran as if hell itself was after them, which in this case wouldn't be very far from the truth.
As they were running they reached an old warehouse and began desperatelly blockading themselves in, finding nothing but rusty metal chairs and old desks, that were barely standing up. It didn't take the necrotics long to break through, Jonathan climbed up onto a metal railing in the ceiling, escaping through a window. The other's however were already mauled to death, their bloody bodies distracting the savage fiends of the swamp. Jonathan quickly ran and never looked back. He finally reached the end of the swamp and could finally breathe, it was strange, the air was fresh and the feeling of freedom overcame him, he had gotten out. He continued on his journey into the outlands...

Perks
- VERY practical and useful skillset
- Strength and survival capabilities, due to military training.
- Intelligence of tech and ability to affect it.
Defects
- A big red target on my back saying "Kill me Combine."
- This character is emotionally dull and numb, due to his lack of luck with life.
What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan on manufacturing goods (reasonable amounts) for the Resistance, so that they will finally have an independent source of supplies or ammunition, tech and vehicles to help aid in their operations.
