General Discussion / Re: Dragon's Dogma
« on: May 23, 2012, 08:32:59 PM »
In my honest opinion, I'm not that impressed.  To me, it looks like every other third-person hack/slash RPG I've played.  Even after watching both videos, I frankly don't see anything new in this game.

General Discussion / Re: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier
« on: May 23, 2012, 12:35:19 AM »
Compared to the other first person shooters coming out this summer, I will most likely get this.  I always loved tactical shooters (The original Ghost Recon was hard as shit, but boss), and I really look forward to it so long as they don't go overboard like COD.

It's a third person shooter, however, you are able to aim down the sights when I guess you can consider that one part first person.

The original was first person, but GRAW was third.  Also, I did see a demo at E3 last year that was in third person.  In any case, if Ubisoft doesn't mess this up, GRFS could be a really good game.

Media / Pink Floyd

While this is just my opinion, I am inclined to say that it is a FACT that Pink Floyd is the greatest rock band to have ever existed.  Give this a listen:

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: What happened?
« on: May 08, 2012, 09:31:32 PM »
I hate to shove this off-topic, but OTA are NOT robots in the sense I didn't quite define earlier.  According to the canon, OTA DO feel pain and, if you toss a grenade at them, they will yell "Shit!" or "That's a grenade!" etc.

 Back on topic, kgo

I'm not sure whether it was you I responded to, or another unit with the same mindset, but Hell will freeze over before Rofl EVER considers whitelisting HL2RP.  Yes, we are going to get new players fresh out of Dark RP, and it is our job to teach them.  The least we can do is point them towards the guides on the forums.  Instantly banning anyone who doesn't know how to RP is outright elitism.  I would even consider it borderline RP-Nazism (Russia is for Russians, anyone?).

In short, if a new player connects and doesn't want to learn how to seriously RP, then they have until the time the next admin gets on to leave the server or be banned.  If they do want to learn, however, then stop calling them a noob and teach them!

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: What happened?
« on: May 08, 2012, 09:16:28 PM »
I always thought it was because minges would farm them in order to apply for CP on the day they first joined the server?  Considering the main reason people are saying they were removed (LPs were raping canon), please, do go on about how OTA are basically robots and CCA uniforms are air conditioned.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Guide Thread {Tips for CCA/Rebels}
« on: May 08, 2012, 09:12:48 PM »
I do have a tip for CCA/MPF High Command:

It is understandable that you worked hard for your rank, but do not let it go to your head.  Just because you were chosen amongst all your peers for promotion to OfC does not mean you have the right to act better than them.  You should be a model for them, like any good father figure.  You should never hesitate to help them, and if they slip up, do not hesitate to correct them.  If they do slip up, please try to keep the blackmarks in your pocket.  The only time you want to take them out is if a unit shows chronic signs of failure, whether it be constant dismissal of direct orders or a tick that can't be corrected simply.

Another thing to remember is to make your orders clear.  As Sun Tzu once said, "If the orders are not followed because they are unclear, then it is the fault of the generals.  If the orders are not followed but are clear, then it is the fault of the subordinates." (Paraphrase)  The best leader is one who owns up to his mistakes and moves to correct them.  Losing your patience is a sign of a weak commander.  Your units should respect you, not fear you.

In short, treat your units with respect, show them where they can improve, and, most importantly, be a role model.

If I had to list the pros and cons (Which I will), I would say this:

Master Chief
Pros: Genetically augmented juggernaut, vehicles
Cons: Teammates suck, weapons suck, annoying AI constantly yelling at him

Commander Shepard
Pros: Tech/Biotic powers, accurate weapons, non-useless teammates
Cons: Personal issues

I think it's rather balanced.

General Discussion / Re: Reviewing games.
« on: May 06, 2012, 01:09:03 PM »
Firstly, just a rebuttal of Emperor's review of Black Ops:  In every COD game, the single player has always been awesome.  The story line was pretty good, but I never cared for the graphics.  Online, zombies was always awesome, but the multiplayer has also always been horrible in COD games.  It's always the same thing:  Get the biggest AR, put a silencer on it, even if that weapon realistically can't have a silencer on it (Silenced AK-47, anyone?), and get a stealth perk.  Can anyone hear the sound of that douchebag jacking off as he unleashes his 20 kill streak?

Other than that, I would love it if you could review one of my personal favorite games:  World in Conflict.  It might not be that famous, but it was always freaking awesome.  If not, then how about Battlefield 3?

Social Discussion / Re: Killing Floor!

Even though this reeks of post whore, I'll bite.

Killing Floor is a great game, agreed.  It's endlessly replayable, and the dev team is one of greatest group of dudes on the planet.  However, the game boasts a voice acting staff smaller than any Bethesda game, but the fact that every model has the same voice and character shouldn't convince you that Killing Floor is not a good buy.  Also, if no one else already caught it, Tripwire Interactive also made Red Orchestra.

Social Discussion / Re: WW3
« on: May 05, 2012, 02:21:30 AM »
Agree with all the above.  World War Three is as likely to happen as Justin Bieber hitting puberty (Excuse me for using an overused phrase).  The four most thought of countries to start it (North Korea, China, Russia, and USA) can't afford a total war.  As was mentioned before, if either of these nations were to get into an international conflict, the USA would probably HAVE to use nukes because they wouldn't be able to afford a long term conventional conflict, China would be split between the warfront and the homefront, and Russia and North Korea, please, they don't even HAVE an army.  Every time I play another WW3 FPS (MW, Homefront, BF) I can't help but roll my eyes at the writer's lack of creativity.  However, Battlefield 3 at least had the creativity to imagine a war between the US and Iran, which is rather original, considering the other games out on the market.

Denied Authorizations / James Wong's Authorization Application
« on: April 29, 2012, 10:36:35 PM »
Player Section

Steam Name: Hazard Time
Age: 18
How long have you been Roleplaying? (can be any game): 3 Years
How long have you been playing Serious GMod RP?: 2 Years

Character Section

Authorization(s):
Medical knowledge

Name: James Wong
Age: 48
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Civil Workers Union

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
James Wong was born in Seattle to Taiwanese immigrant parents.  His father was a dentist, and it was from him that James gained an interest in medicine.  After high school, he was applied for a scholarship to Stanford, where he was accepted.  It was there that he studied medicine, earning his doctorate in clinical surgery.  After graduating, he took a job at the local hospital in the Trauma center, where his surgery skills were tempered and honed.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
Upon joining the CWU, James will be able to open clinics and treat citizens legally.  With the right equipment he can save anyone's life.

Defects
Without proper equipment, his skills will be close to useless.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
If I am granted medical authorization, I plan to have James join the CWU, where he can practice medicine legally.  While not supportive of the CCA's policies, he feels that rebellion is pointless.  I have formerly had a CCA character who was in SHIELD, so I will be able to RP it correctly.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
No.

Which server does this apply for?
City
