Backstory
//The name for the character in the start of the story is different. It’s change is detailed later. The bulk of his pre-life isn’t detailed as he would of had a standard upbringing and detailing an average life isn’t really too interesting or required.

Andrew Thompson would best be described as your typical fan boy geek. He had a nice upbringing in a middle class family, lived in a nice area, had a few likeminded friends but was of course obsessed with one thing… Comics. As a child Andrew loved to read comics with his favourite being V for Vendetta. He loved the idea of a realistic, intelligent figure who could destroy a government to create such anarchy. Andrew would read the comics for hours a day going over every detail and enjoying every moment. As he grew older his obsession became more than just comics, he spent his time outside of work making a V costume and even writing a diary as if he was V himself. He spent countless hours trying to make the costume just right but it wasn’t the best and he knew it. Regardless he continued to spend money on his obsession and was now intent trying to learn how to use daggers like V would.  Andrew went online and bought some custom made rubber daggers, when they arrived he spent most of his free time practicing with them but he was never really happy as he felt what he read was different to what he did. While he was doing this he continued to write his diary, it was written as if he was V himself but in a setting he thought more realistic.
In 2005 however, everything changed for Andrew as the film representation of V for Vendetta was finally released. Andrew became so excited that he now had a film and an actual character which he could base his ‘training’ off. He watched the film over and over spending a lot of money going to the cinema, he tried to take in everything about V from the way he spoke to the way he entered a room and moved. Andrew now stepped up his fan boy antics to a new level, he spent most of his money buying a real V for Vendetta costume from the film. He would practice every day he could trying to not only perfect his knife skills but to also improve his stealth and computer skills. He became so engrossed in his obsession that he started to hate the society he lived in. As he learnt about hacking he began to practice by hacking real software and servers. He never did anything major but liked to think he was ‘destroying society.’ Really though he was just a fan boy on a computer but he still had some decent skills. While he taught himself his V skills he would update his diary putting some basic notes about his training in the back after his ‘real world V’ diary.
After a few years of practicing his fan boy V skills the portal storms began and like his family and friends around him he panicked. Despite his obsession he still knew he wasn’t really V and that he was useless in this time. The city in which Andrew lived became a ‘safe zone.’ The army stormed in setting up perimeters around the city to try and keep the inhabitants safe. This was a scary time for Andrew and his friends and family who now surrounded him but he continued to write in his diary. His diary became the only thing keeping him sane as the world fell around him, he adjusted his story to the world around him trying to keep it ‘realistic’ and keep himself happy. His diary kept him sane and somewhat happy during the portal storms but that all changed on the fateful day of the 7 hour war. When the combine started their assault the city became a prime target as it was a population center. The city was assaulted by all means of attack and Andrew had to watch as the city burned around him. The Army around him was powerless in comparison and as Andrew ran with his family he saw many of the people he had come to know die in horrific ways. Andrew and his family tried to hide in a park, an area they thought would be left alone. But they were wrong, as the combine attacked they set fire to everything from the parks to the tower blocks.  Andrew tried to run to find cover but flames surrounded him. He tried to look around for his family but couldn’t see anything through the smoke and flames around him. Suddenly he saw a burning figure come screaming toward him… it was his father. He watched as his father ran burning toward Andrew then falling to the floor in front of him dead and almost melting from the heat. Andrew was horrified and tried to find a safe place or even anyone else he knew but all he found was the burnt, bubbling corpses of his family, friends and other citizens who thought the park would be safe. After a few minutes Andrew managed to see somewhere he could hide, a cave but his path was blocked by a few trees, all on fire. Seeing nowhere else to go Andrew ran forward running through the fire hoping to be quick enough to not get burned but he was wrong. Andrew easily caught alight and began to burn but he continued to run toward the cave. After a few seconds he reached the cave but he was engulfed in flames, he screamed in pain as he desperately tried to look for water. As he looked around he was a small pond in the cave, he quickly dashed to it falling to it and rolling it. He signed as the flames went out but then screamed as the pain of his burns got to him. He got up running about in confusion and pain but as he did he tripped on one of the many rocks in the cave and fell smacking his head on a rock passing out almost instantly.

Andrew woke slowly after a few hours, he screamed in pain and confusion. He looked to himself screaming once more trying to work out what happened to him. However as hard as he tried he couldn’t remember anything, not even his name. He looked around the cave trying to find anything but he saw nothing but a small object next to a pool of water. Next to the water he found a small book that was burned at the edge but was still readable and intact. He slowly began to read the pages looking for any kind of clue to where he was. He had to stop often due to the pain but by the time he finished he was confused. He looked around to where he was seeing a park outside. He linked the book to him and began to think it was his diary, it seemed to explain his burning, the park and what had happened around him. He picked up the book holding it close as he slowly got up. He went to exit and try to find anyone outside.

//The next bit is the diary extract (In a spoiler) after that the story is written as if he is V. He Isn’t but it is written as if he is.
Spoiler for Hiden:
The Beginning
Not much is known about V before his incarceration. What is known is that he was a convicted criminal incarcerated for having gone ‘too far’ in a protest in England about the social structure and state of the country. However, he has only ever said he “Did not go far enough” but what he did exactly will remain unknown. What he did though was extreme and caused to government to put a media blackout on him to ensure that people did not panic or unrest. Due to the nature of his actions, he was sentenced to a ‘secret trial’ outside the standard laws of the UK. After his secret trial and conviction he was sentenced to life imprisonment in what was only known as “Facility Alpha.”  Facility Alpha was a top secret government facility that worked on protecting the inhabitants of England against attacks using outlawed methods such as chemical and biological warfare. The location of the base was unknown and the experiments inside were just as classified but involved acts against every human rights law set in the world.
V was incarcerated about 6 months prior to the first portal storms. In this time he was subject to large amounts of experimentation that involved being injected with certain diseases and chemicals then being subsequently injected with  various antidotes to find a cure for the public. These experiments caused excruciating pain and would often scar V as the chemicals burned his skin and virus’s caused his insides to deteriorate greatly. After 6 Months V was at his weakest point, after being injected and gassed with hundreds of chemicals he was weak and in constant pain but on his final day in Facility Alpha, this would change forever.

Escape from Facility Alpha
The day started like any other for V. He woke after a couple of hours of sleep screaming in pain as the night terrors and burning woke him once more. As he arose a small hatch on the large metal cell door opened at the bottom. A clunk echoed outside the cell then the scraping of a metal food tray could be heard as a tray with an unidentifiable food goop slide into the cell stopping just in front of the door in the cell. V crawled to it eating what he could as quickly as possible eating every morsel on the tray and floor around him. As he finished he crawled toward a corner of the cell. He scrunched himself into the corner trying to sleep but just a few seconds later a loud clunk could be heard from the door. As the door opened a silhouette of a soldier could be seen, it marched closer then taking V’s arm and dragging him out of the cell. The hallway was cold and clinical like always, the only dirt was the trail left behind V as he was dragged. As V was dragged he let out cries of pain but no one cared, no one ever did. After being dragged for a minute or two, V was dropped in a chair in a clean white room surrounded by tiled walls and a single mirror. As V was tied into the chair another figure entered the room. He wore a biohazard suit with a reflective visor to not show his face and to only show V himself. As the soldier finished tying V down, the scientist in the biohazard suit began to speak…
“You are a survivor five. You have managed to survive six months of this, the board is impressed.  Now according to your file **Looking at a clipboard** it is your birthday not that you would remember. So as a treat, we have a new substance to test on you. It’s called Substance 5, it’s a virus but for one percent of people it won’t kill them but aide their healing process. We have yet to find anyone with that immunity, so you’re the next subject. If your immune, your DNA will hold the key to a cure like no other! So let’s begin.”
As the scientist stopped speaking two more entered the room in the same kind of Biohazard suits as the first man. One of the men stood behind V holding his arms down with the other then going to his left arm holding a needle in his hand. Inside there seemed to be a green liquid. V didn’t really notice any of this as he looked down to the floor. A few seconds later he felt a prick in his arm as the needle was injected into his arm. He didn’t flinch but more set out a small sign of relief as the arm numbed for a second and he had a brief second or lessened pain. However a few moments later he began to violently shake and scream in pain. The scientists loudly sighed as they coldly watched V suffer through their masks. They turned to leave but then suddenly stopped as V seemed to stop shaking and screaming and instead just breathed normally. He did not wheeze or cough but he just sat their breathing. The scientists turned back, they now seemed to perk up and took a genuine interest in V. The main scientist then spoke out “Jackson, untie him. See if he can walk!” One of the men nodded then going to undo the restrains on V. V still just sat there however, breathing normally still keeping his gaze firmly on the floor. The main scientist then spoke “get up in your own time five, just get up and walk for us.” His voice was not so cold but instead he spoke like he was speaking to a child. V remained there for a few moments then suddenly an alarm sounded and the room was suddenly flooded with a red flashing light. The scientists promptly stopped taking interest in V and took notice of the alarm then listening to the PA as it crackled into life
“We have a perimeter breach! All staff to breach stations! Class 6! I repeat Class 6 Breach!” **An unearthly zap and buzz is heard. A scream is heard from the PA announcer then some unearthly screaming and silence**
Suddenly a mass of soldiers is seen moving past the door along with various persons in Hazmat suits. The men with V in the room quickly exit the room leaving the door open in their haste. Suddenly a  loud zap like that on the Pa is heard and a flash of green light fills the hallway outside the door. Some of the soldiers seem to stop and start firing down the hall shouting at each other. A scream is heard from a soldier further down the hall and after a few more shots from the soldiers near V’s room, they scream stops and the soldiers continue to run.
As the chaos erupts V begins to look up and around the room. Something about him seems to have changed, no longer does he shiver from the pain of his injuries and his breathing seems to be more regular. As he looks around he manages to find some strength from within himself, he puts one foot forward off the chair followed by the other. He flinches slightly from a minor pain but he continues to attempt to get up. He pushes himself from the chair then standing up in front of the chair. He stands for a moment in amazement of what he can do but his appreciation of his newfound strength is shattered as the mirror on the wall shatters and an odd human-like creature is seen screaming from the other side. Instinctively V goes to run from the room stumbling as he tries to get his balance. He runs to the hall holding on the wall looking around seeing a large amount of blood then a pile of both human and non-human bodies. He quickly moves toward the body of what seems to have been a soldier. He bends down going to grab some of his kit. He fumbles about trying to take off his vest and helmet. He fumbles about for about a minute as he tries to get control of his hands but eventually manages to get the kit off. He tries to slide into it but is interrupted as a weird green and orange entity forms down the hall from him. V goes to try and grab the gun of the solider but fumbles with it. After a few moments he manages to grab the gun and get some kind of grip with it. He clumsily aims toward the glowing entity but as it vanishes a figure appears from the glow. Out of reaction V pulls the trigger sending a hail of bullets toward the figure.  As he fires the gun uncontrollably flies up spraying the entire hall and roof as the gun shot up. A thud could be heard however as the figure fell down. V dropped the gun as he released the trigger then going to finish putting the vest and helmet on. He picked the gun up again shakily putting a new magazine up. He then slung it on his back taking out the combat knife from the vest he now wore. He then turned and started moving quickly down the hall stumbling as he moved. On his way to exit the base he saw a few men in Hazmat suits, soldiers and a few dead bodies of both human and non-human decent. They didn’t really take notice of V, they didn’t really care at this moment. As V got to the top of the base he looked out seeing utter anarchy. The weird portal things were all around, a mixture of fighter jets and odd, alien craft filled the skies and the early morning darkness was now filled with flashes of red and green as explosions and portals illuminated the area. As V looked around he noticed where the base was. It was in the middle of a city, a convenience really for V as it allowed him to escape straight into an urban environment. As he left the compound no one really bothered or noticed him. They saw someone with a helmet, vest and a gun and in the chaos they didn’t think much of it. V ran from the compound, now remaining stable and even picking up some speed. An alarm sounded through the city he was in and he could see hundreds of people running in one direction. Thinking they had been told where to go V followed them keeping to the shadows somewhat to avoid being an easy target for a bomb. As he followed the people, he came to a central park where a mass of people could be seen. The park was surrounded by huge numbers of armed soldiers who were desperately trying to protect the park and keep it as a safe haven. V threw off his gear at his point then running into the crowds and following them into the park to try and ensure some kind of safety for him…

Surviving
Over the next few years V remained a civilian. No one questioned who he was or why he was there. To everyone there he was just another guy who is trying to survive. The Army had started to put a perimeter around the city and maintain an area where people could stay safe. While trying to keep low he had also managed to get a rather nice wig to cover the burns on his head but alas his face was still heavily scarred. No one ever questioned it but he tried to keep as low as possible to hide his true self. V managed to just blend in, he was waiting for some kind of stability. However he did make a good effort to pick up what art and antiquities he could find so that he could keep them in his new home, a small apartment close to the park. But this was all in vein as on that fateful day when the storms picked up again and the Combine came through, all he had was lost. On that day V was in the park, looking for anything of use when explosions and fighting was heard in the city. V looked around and found a cave, he decided to go inside and try to lay low until the fighting stopped

As V left the cave he couldn’t hear the fighting. He looked around looking for anyone but saw no one. He wandered for a bit then the announcement came that the world was now under the control of this new Combine force. V listened to the announcement and went to the designated rally point, the outer edge of the park. There V saw many citizens and an oddly dressed army. Some of the men took seemingly random people to the side to a special group. Suddenly another group of these soldiers opened fire on the group killing them all… V was horrified at what he saw but remained quiet hoping he wouldn’t be picked out. V was lucky enough to survive and remained in the same city for a few months while the Union was established. He stayed in the same apartment. He now wore the civilian clothing he had been assigned but managed to keep his wig. The Combine didn’t seem to care about his scaring, he could work, that’s all they cared about. After a few months of living in the city he was called to the relocation center. V packed up his bags with some rolled up paintings, clothing and small bits of art then headed to the center. When he reached the booth he was asked for his name, V had no idea what to say for a moment but then remember some trash he saw. A beet can with the John Smith on it. He chose that as his name and was given a formal identification pass with his name and a CID. He was then informed that he would be sent to City 17 for the foreseeable future. He was herded onto a train and was sent to City 17…

City 17
As the train pulled up V was greeted by a mass of propaganda film and depressed citizens. V was sent through the checking barriers, in these barriers there seemed to be some kind of police. They wore gas masks and all black clothing. They searched all of V’s stuff, they questioned the art but let it pass as it posed no threat but they took any of the electronic stuff such as DVD’s claiming it was “Anti-Union.” V was aggravated by this but didn’t fight back, he could see he was hopelessly outgunned and fighting would be pointless at the moment. After a while they did let V pass however and he was assigned to a small apartment in Precinct three. V started to set his life up, he wanted to try and live a straight life but as memories came back to him and he witnessed the violence of the Union he started to turn once more. V could take no more of the atrocities he was witnessing and decided he would do whatever he could to stop the Union.
As the city was still so new he knew that some materials wouldn’t be too hard to come by. Currently the Union had swept for major problems such as armed persons and anything that could directly damage the Union so clothing was still easy to find in some of the old housing. V spent a few weeks searching through old, unused housing trying to find anything of use. He found little for a while but he did manage to find some rather nice clothes in various houses. Knowing these clothes would become contraband he took special care to hide them in his apartment, he pulled up some of the floor boards and used a small space under the floor as his storage. As the weeks passed V only found more basic supplies such as food and clothing but on one particular day he did manage to strike lucky. While searching an old antiques shop for any appreciable art he could take V found a rather nice painting still on the wall. As he went to try and take it V found that behind the wall as affair sized safe. Not knowing anything about how to crack a safe V ponded what to do. He decided to search the shop office trying to find any kind of clue to the combination. After an hour of searching he did in fact find a bit of paper with three sets of numbers on it, it was all he had to he decided to try the numbers on the safe. He tried the first combination to no avail but as he finished the second combination a clunk could be heard as the safe unlocked. V opened the safe and inside he found a few items. The front contained some old paper money, now useless but in the back of the safe there were a variety of books and a rather nice case. The books were some old first edition history books about various different events. V put them into his backpack and then proceeded to take the case. He put it on the table behind him and proceeded to open the case in which he found two old medieval daggers. They seemed to be in good condition and would make a suitable weapon for V to use. He closed the case then putting the case into his backpack. V continued to search for the rest of the day finding only a few more books and a few old films. He took what he could then headed to his apartment where he stored the items he had found that day.
Over the coming weeks V read up on the books that he had found learning about various historical events and even learning some new skills. Although his memory was now mostly restored, V’s old skills were rusty but he knew he could not practice and refine his skills within his apartment. In his travels V had found some old blueprints, he thought nothing of them but one took his attention, an old sewer layout that highlighted an old power room. The room seemed to be split in two. The first room contained some big power generators but the other, connected by a small corridor contained only spare parts and was for storage. This place seemed like a good place to look place to lay low as the small corridor could be used as a concealed entrance. If something was put in front, it could become a hidden hideaway. V packed up what he could and at the dead of night he moved from his apartment through Precinct three and into the sewers ready to find his new home.

The Printworks
The Printworks of C45 was authorised a while ago. The contacts and resistance side of the Printworks was authorised
A week before the events of City 45, Gamma was still just the Printworks manager, he ran a small resistance Printworks that aimed to help people survive in the world in which they now lived. He would hire citizens, pay and feed them and distribute the books free to help his fellow man. But behind the scenes, he knew all was not right. In the back he had a large radio array that he used to keep in contact with various other resistance groups. He had always kept good contact with the other sectors of City 45 and a few other cities but he had started to lose contact. At first he thought it was just the odd one or two sweeps finding the other groups but alas it was not. In the final week of City 45, other sector outposts all shut off one by one leaving just Gamma's sector and a couple of others. Fearing the worst he tried to get in contact with the Third Eye. He had no idea who was a member or even how to contact them but one day, by pure coincidence a man named Daniel Slater enter the Printworks. Trying to get the word out that he needed to speak with the Third Eye, he told Daniel of a few of the problems and the supplies that the Printworks need. At this time, the supplies weren't for an uprising, just to survive but that was going to change. A few hours after speaking to Daniel, Gamma was working in the Printworks when suddenly he hears the door being closed. He looks up and see's a figure by the door. The man was wearing dark, Onyx colour leather and appeared to be heavily armed. Gamma was fearful at first, backing up fearing an authority spy. However, as he examined the man, he  changed his view. After a few minutes of weary observation, Gamma spoke to the man. Realising he was like him, a freedom fighter he explained to the man the problems the city was facing and what Gamma needed. The man explained to him that the citizens will make a move first, he told him to listen out for a code-word. He also said that he would deliver some supplies to the Printworks. These supplies would be the tools of revolution and when the announcement goes out, gather the supporters at the works to get them ready to reclaim the city.

The Revolution
A couple of days after his encounter with the Onyx clothed man, Gamma was preparing the Printworks. He had received no delivery but was readying the place anyhow. He used the ink from the machines to make paint bombs and he had stripped most of his computer network. Yet he kept one radio network on. Having heard no more from any other Sector, he tried to make contact with other cities. Only one city replied offering help. A small outpost in City Seventeen said they had somewhere a few people could lay low in if they got to the city. Gamma spoke to them for quite some time as they explained various things about where the base was and how to access it. gamma took detailed notes of what he could but he stopped as he explained the final thing. The member of City 17 said the base would be deserted as the current inhabitants would be moving out to help a small outlands group in a pass to the north. They said they would be not returning to this base but to another area of the city if and when they return. Gamma replied acknowledging the message. Just as he was about to note this down though, he was disturbed by some movement behind him. He turned to see the Onyx coloured man once more though this time he had a few large packed dufflebags. He dumped them on the floor in front of him then without saying a word he left. Gamma moved to the bags, he looked in seeing a large amount of MP7's and a lot of ammunition. He smiled as he took one for himself. As he pulled the primer back there was a sudden alarm from the Embassy. A few moments after, the dispatch screeched into life. A voice was heard, a voice he recognised as being the Onyx coloured man's. He listened intently taking in every word. The dispatch ended with the code word he had been waiting for, Gamma smiled then moving to the Printworks activation button. He pressed it sending a large buzzer sound throughout P3. After just a few minutes, a crowd had formed at the Printworks. Gamma started to give a pep talk to the men. He explained what he knew and that they would make their move that day. Moments later, the Onyx coloured man entered once more, he turned to the crowd and began to speak. As he did he gave Gamma a nod. Knowing his signal, he went to the back taking the dufflebags and bringing them out the front. He lined up the 'troops' and handed out their weapons and ammunition. A few minutes later he went to the Onyx suited man. He spoke to him about the plan. After this, they spoke to the troops and got ready to move out.

The Embassy
The resistance readied by the Embassy exit, ready to take the Consul. Another suited man went to the roof overlooking the tunnel road, a few moments later some fire was heard. The Onyx man then called to move forward and with a passion the citizens moved forward out of the tunnel. They quickly moved out firing a barrage of rounds at the woefully outnumbered units at the embassy. Some of the citizens kept the units suppressed ensuring they moved back, the others like Gamma moved to the Embassy. As they forced their way inside a sound erupted from the nexus. The dispatch called out across the city with the words Gamma had never heard... "Autonomous Waiver is now in Effect!" Gamma gulped at the sound but quickly went back to the job at hand. As the embassy doors opened, he moved in, leading the pack of citizens. As they cleared through the building Gamma looked for the Consul, expectant of where he would be Gamma went with a few men to the Chambers. Once the door was open Gamma stormed in, he searched for anyone and behind the desk he found a quivering, pathetic Consul. He pulled him up as the people around him took his radio and anything of use from him. Gamma then looked the Consul in the eye and said "Consul, you have been deemed guilty by the Civil Alliance. Your punishment, death!" He then aimed at the Consuls head as he pleaded for mercy. Gamma looked at him for a moment, hesitating but as he closed his eyes, he remembered what this man represented and what he had done. He then opened his eyes as they widened with adrenaline. He then pulled the trigger realising a burst of three rounds into the head of the Consul. As the Consul fell Gamma smiled at the cheers from the men around him. He then quickly moved back to go and defend the Embassy

The Plaza
After the embassy, Gamma and the Onyx man called the resistance back to P3 and into the sewers where they intended to get into the Plaa through the old sewer network. As the men moved through the sewers, Gamma thought of what would happen. He realised the Union wouldn't let the city just get taken and sure enough at this moment, a dispatch was heard, even in the sewers. "The nexus core has been destabilized, thirty minutes to detonation!" The words made Gamma shudder as they echo'd around the sewers the the shop where the men were going through from the sewers. As Gamma exited he readied his gun once more trying to forget about the nexus. At the his call the resistance stormed from the shop into the Plaza. The units at the P3 hardpoint were shocked as the first bullets flew at them. They had little defence from the attack from behind and Gamma could heard their screams and biosignal lose alarms. Gamma kept firing no longer thinking about those he might be killing. As he looked around he noticed a few units running toward the CWU building. Gamma, fueled by adrenaline ran behind the plaza tower and to the shops at the end of the CWU road. He looked down seeing units running. He aimed his SMG firing some controlled bursts toward the units. He saw one of them fall as they ran but the other escaped. He saw the CWU door closing as he moved up but he noticed a trail of blood. He smiled as he went to open the CWU door. He looked around and saw a weapon on the floor and a unit trying to crawl up the stairs. He smiled yelling at the unit to stop. He fired a warning shot as he moved up to the unit. He looked down as the unit cried out for mercy but this only angered Gamma. He yelled at the unit "You want mercy! Like the mercy you showed citizens!" Moments later as the unit tried to plea more he spoke once more... "Unit, you are deemed guilty by the Civil Alliance. Your punishment, death!" Gamma offered the unit some final words and as it pleaded with him more, he fired a shot directly at the units head. As he did the nexus called out once more "All citizens and units. Get to the train station, the nexus will self destruct in twenty minutes!" Gamma sighed at this moment, he looked around the CWU HQ, he noticed an old CWU bag. He dropped what weapons he had and put them in the bag. He then went to run out toward the train station.  As he ran he noticed several citizens firing from the tower. He yelled to them as he threw the bag in their direction, they looked to the bag then taking it. They didn't notice what Gamma was doing as they took the ammo from the bag. Gamma then continued to run toward the train station. He scurried quickly inside, he went past a unit as he entered. The unit quickly patted him down looking for weapons alone. The unit found nothing but Gamma's notebook and UU supplies. The unit let him pass so Gamma run toward the train. As he arrived he observed the injured units, Gamma tried to hide his smile of pleasure at this moment. A few minutes later the citizens were herded onto the train with the units. As the last person get on the train pushed off. A few minutes later a unit called out the destination, City Seventeen. Gamma sighed with relief when suddenly a huge explosion was heard from the city. A bright light could be seen as the train moved further from the city. Gamma sighed once more in both relief and sadness for the men lost but he looked forward to the city where he could start once more.

Suggestions / Apocalypse SRP Server
« on: October 12, 2012, 09:52:08 AM »
So we need a new server to get new players and keep everyone interested. We have tried to bring in alternative game-modes to try and get away from Rp but the community clearly loves it's RP like myself. From looking at changes of recent it seems a new serious Rp server would make sense. Most sensibly an OA or Clockwork (GM13) server would make the most sense. So with that i put forward this suggestion:

Apocalypse SRP

Overview

In basic the RP is set around a post-apocalyptic world where small groups of survivors have banded together in "Safe zones." These areas are protected by the Global Defense Initiative who help kill hoards of mutated "Zombies" on the outskirts of the population centers. As well as the GDI there are also various amounts of other military factions (mainly mercenary groups) who help keep the zombies back to defend themselves and their interests while they undertake contracts with people around the population center. There are also traders who, for a price help supply the factions with their much needed supplies. For the other survivors they must hunt for scrap and supplies or join a faction to develop their character.

For a full example of a canon please see this topic. http://visualitygaming.com/index.php?topic=94.0 Yes it is from another community but i am merely using this as an example. Ours would change and this is not to be copied. This is the same as looking at another servers HL2RP canon for a basic idea of the game-mode.

Factions
  • GDI - The Global Defence Initiative are the world's last combined military force. They operate to keep what is left of humanity safe from the world beyond the safe zone. People must make forum applications for the faction and it is run like a normal military using the same ranks. For simple comparison we can use the same structure as HL2RP's Civil Protection but use ranks not numbers. There are several sections of the GDI including medical, support, mechanical etc etc
  • Mercenary Factions - These are super admin approved, player made factions. There will normally be only one or two mercenary factions at any one time to stop idiotic groups being formed by everyone that will cause big IC and OOC fights. These factions work like the GDI and will do patrols into the red zones to kill infected/mutated beings but they will mainly undertake contracts from others for cash. They are self funded and only a few supplies are attained from within the organisation I.E they have weapons that traders can't sell but food etc is bought by the players from traders to increase Rp with traders)
  • Traders - traders are just that. As you would expect they buy and sell various things from all factions for a profit. However, although each trader has business menu access, they may NOT sell everything from it and within an application they must state what sort of items they sell. I.E weaponry, clothing, food, medical supplies etc. If they breach this they are removed from the whitelist. Traders may not supply themselves with anything idiotic such as weaponry.
  • Civilians - Civilians are the normal players at base level. Civilians can create their own Rp and their own, small groups and jobs such as with any RP. Although big mercenary groups must be approved, freelancers may be approved alongside them to create more Rp. However they recive no whitelists or extras and remain a citizen. Most citizens will either find a job of some kind or will go "Scrap hunting" where they search for bits of rubbish and scrap that is randomly spawned around the map by auto-generation. Some scrap is worthless and can be turned into money but other stuff is more useful and although it can be turned into money it is more sensible to keep it to sell or craft.

Key features
  • Crafting - Players may craft certain things such as weapons (Like a basic gun or knife) or even combine them to create things such as anti-septic bandages (They heal more than using bandages and a medical item.) The base items for crafting are gained through scavenging for randomly spawned items such as - blades (For a sword,) Gun parts (For guns) or cloth (For clothing, weapons, bandages etc) However to craft people must first buy the recipes from traders that allows them to craft
  • Better backpacks - Rather than have limited bags and backpacks along like HL2RP players can now purchases more levels of storage and carry more of them. Players can now buy types of jackets (From ragged to trench-coat,) bags, dufflebags, backpacks and more. Each of these is placed onto the players model using custom models so people can tell how much someone is carrying. This also creates immersion as someone clearly has somewhere to hold their stuff.
  • Scrap hunting - As previously mentioned players can now hunt for various bits of scrap around the map. This scrap is generated in a few places around the map every 30 minutes or so. The locations would change between predetermined spots to stop campers. Within these piles there are several types and tiers of items. they are:

Junk - Junk is the literal crap that spawns. There are three tiers of junk with each one being worth a little more. Tier 1 ir $1, tier 2 is $2 and Tier 3 is $3. This stuff has no use and tiers are determined by item size (A can is a tier 1 but a large bottles is tier 3)

Craftable items - Craftable items are needed in recipes to craft various different items. They can be scrapped but are better used or sold. items include - Gun parts, cloth, wrenches, planks etc. These items are rareer than scrap and some, like gunparts are rarer than bits of wood for example.

Repairable items - Sometimes items like radio's can spawn. These items when used with a wrench could be repaired into a radio entity that plays basic music. Other types of items like this could be added such as TV's or walkies-talkies.
  • NPC zombies - Within a certain area of the map there will be a section where different types of zombie NPC's will spawn. These NPC's are hostile and will attack anyone within the area they spawn. This area of the map would be barricaded off but within there are some good RP buildings. Also when zombies are killed they SOMETIMES drop things such as food (burgers, human flesh etc) or even scrap. Just basic items. [l/i]
Donation Packages

Of course the gamemode needs to generate an income so there are donation packages that could be made. This is better decided to the owners and developers but the basic things that a package can include are similar to what HL2RP offers but no flags are offered within a package to stop a destruction of the economy as people won't use traders. Some things that can be included are:

PET flags for passive rp creation in houses
In game currency
Access to a special, purely passive class such as an infected (With restrictions)

I hope you have enjoyed this idea and i look forward to your feedback. Also if you look at the link provided in this topic you wil see that this game mode is already successful in a community and it is a very enjoyable game mode. I would welcome people to try it to get a better idea of what CG could create.

Also. I am aware of the previous suggestions to this but they have lacked the detail and seem to show a different, less serious kind of gamemode that is more about zombie DM than normal survival and character development that is achieved in the OA/Clockwork gamemodes.

Name: Alex Hitchens
Age: Mid 20'2, exact age unknown.
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Resistance

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
Alex Hitchens was an alliance member in the outlands. When he left for an unknown location (when I got robbed at xmas) he wasn’t seen again. he left to find something important from an old friend. he ventured for weeks through all kinds of terrains, he found what he needed from a friend (something not important and no auth needs.) As he went to head back for the canals though he saw the alliance vehicles in convoy, belting on the roads with combine in tow. Alex decided to follow them from a far and when they entered a mountain tunnel he decided to climb up and over to avoid combine detection.
As he climbed on the second assent he slipped falling several feet down and breaking his leg, he thought he was a goner but by pure luck someone found him. A member of another resistance group made up of a rag tag team of members from larger groups. They took Alex in and helped him back to health. while he was with the group they taught him of mountain survival tactics from living off the land to rock climbing properly. As he learnt he got to know one of the members well, his outfit shared the same lambda logo Alex had on his arm from back in City 8. They got talking and he found out that this fellow was helping a much larger group and was given some items to give to those who could help as he was told.
Alex learnt that a much larger group lead by 'people from the start' as he was told and that they were working on a special project but had gotten stuck and needed help, they sent out a squad of trusted men to deliver the message, they went far and wide to deliver the message. Alex explained who he was looking for and the man knew just where the group was, in an old cold war Russian bunker, he explained how they were seen moving in while scouting but they didn’t know if they were still inside. He told Alex the directions and gave him a package. He said to give it to the 'brains' of the group, they may be able to help, he explained notes were inside if Alex wanted to know more.
Alex agreed to deliver the package and set off with supplies for the base. Alex made camp along the way and read the notes as he went on, the box contained the following items:
-Notes on the project
-Blueprints for the project
-Blueprints for the contact device
-A sealed letter containing a frequency.
The notes explained the project was some kind of teleportation device using the same technology and ways the combine used to get to earth, the portal storms, it also noted about it being safe for humans and a group of men had proved this in an emergency. It didn’t say much more of them. The notes explained how the teleporter wasn’t near completion, it would just blow into bits or fry into smoke. Blueprints were contained on how much had been done and what the intentions were. The notes also said that IF in the event of working out how to get the teleporter working the leaders should be contacted on the video frequency on the sealed envelope, at no other time should they be contacted and they could only be contacted via a special satellite with the codes also in the envelope. The final part of the note said that the teleporter wouldn’t work for anyone but the leaders as they possessed a special 'crystal' that would make it actually teleport making it impossible for the alliance to actually teleport.
Alex ventured for days and eventually found the base...

(The rest was IC and this has been done IC to statua alone. If authorised it stays otherwise its voided)

An OTA Hunter for outlands use (Unless called to the city in very rare cases)

Name: OTA.SYNTH.95095
Age: 3 Years since Manufacture
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Combine

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
OTA.SYNTH.95095 was manufactured from an unknown species of zen in 2004 in a Zen factory. It was manufactured without an problems and once complete was put into invasion team delta. This team was in charge of moving through wastelands around the penned up cities and amputating any humans who have escaped the cities. Tactics and training were uploaded to the SYNTH and it was put into testing. It passed through testing, shooting targets, testing team tactics and general training that any SYNTH would need. It was placed into short term stasis to await the invasion.

The SYNTH was taken from stasis in 2005 on the day of the invasion, it was put into formation on the front line with other SYNTHS, the portal's were controlled and opened and the first squads entered, moving to the cities and population centres. Shortly after the SYNTHS squad was moved in, the portal storm bought them into a wasteland outside the city that would soon become City 45. The squad was huge at its first attack, made up of around 100 SYNTHS and about 500 OTA soldiers and 500 Soldiers of zen (//The OTA is human mixed, no that many would have been converted, only a few cities would have been transported to zen and changed so zen would of used their own soldiers in theory) The first citizens were seen cleaning the city, moving in large groups foolishly. The Squad split into smaller groups of 110 in total. Snipers took out the first runners, the SYNTH teams then moved in. SYNTH.95095 was in one of those squads, they moved in shooting every human life form, a few units died but the SYNTH was unharmed and around 100 humans were killed. The squad continued to move, killing stragglers and other large groups, the city became surrounded by squads and teams, humans started to stay inside and hope they would be enslaved rather than go out and get sniped, shot or stabbed by the units and SYNTHS waiting outside for them. Large amounts of both human and combine gunfire came from the city. All SYNTHS around the city were called to move in, units stayed and secured the boarder.
SYNTH.95095 moved into the city from the west with 4 other SYNTHS, they moved in with orders to kill any armed human, as soon as they smashed through boarders they had huge resistance, one SYNTH took a large amount of damage, 95095 taking minimal damage, all armed humans were exterminated in their sector and they continued to move in, they killed any armed citizens they found and herded the unarmed to the centre where units waited for their judgement, either conversion or slavery. After 2 hours the city was under control, people were grouped and taken off for conversion or kept in the centre for slavery. Supplies were bought in and the city quickly had a lot of new Combine buildings, a conversion centre was made and  a temporary camp was made for the slaves. After the surrender of the human race globally the city's conversion began on a bigger scale. SYNTH's were ordered to watch over then after just a few months of ruthlessly efficient work a nexus was set up, SYNTHS were sent to stasis until the city was complete. They served little purpose during this time.
SYNTH 95095 Was bought from stasis a few months later, the city was in its conversion and had been renamed to City 45, SYNTH's were ordered to move to the outlands once again, they were ordered to kill all non-combine lifeforms out there. SYNTH 95095 was moved to the spot in which he secured during the war, as it knew the surroundings. It was an old industrial area with canals running through it. This location needed to be secured and it was up to SYNTH.95095 to help ensure that task is completed. Upon first arrival there were a few non-combine lifeforms, a few zombies and headcrabs along with a few corpses, SYNTH followed its orders killing everything, in its first few weeks it had managed to kill many necrotics, exogen, a few humans and even a biotic (Vort) or 2. SYNTH.95095 is now in the outlands. Constantly working to better the union and taking its orders.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
-The ability to put large amounts of fear into citizens just be existing
-Being very strong, well armed and heavily armoured.
-Being able to clear places in outlands units can get to or go.

Defects
-A big target in the outlands, people want to prove they can kill a hunter.
-A lot of places can be accessed.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan to help on OTA patrols on outlands and if authorised go out alone to clear a sector or building. Also it would assist units if they need hunter support.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
Just me.

Resistance Group Leader - **Name unknown**

Name: Alex Hitchens
Age: 30
Gender: {gen}
Affiliation: Resistance

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
(This is the characters accepted backstory to the point he is in outlands)
Back in the winter of 2015 only a few months after the war, Alex escaped to the canals with 2 other people, only one was injured. Every day they tried to get closer to the coast passing through the large networks of sewers and tunnels along the way making small camps and trying to get as much sleep as possible. Along the way they found no edible food but at one point they managed to catch a small rat which they ate, bones and all. They met few other refugees’ on their way but those they did meet they shared as much information as they could and continued on their way.
Alex and one other made it to the coast but the other, injured man died from a wound injection in the sewers, not surprising but it was a big setback. Once on the coast other 2 managed to find a ship on the beach. Once inside they found a large amount of dried and tinned foods with military markings. They quickly made camp in the ship, searching it as they went for any weapons as it was an ex military ship. They found nothing.
Over the next few months they made 'alterations' to the ship which they thought may be useful later. They managed to survive on the dried foods in the winter until spring came. When it did the antlions started to spawn and a few often came onto the ship. Alex and the other man managed to defend it using whatever they could get their hands on. They kept the antlions they killed as food to make sure they didn’t use all their dried food. But one day, the antlions just stopped. Overwatch had been and installed thumpers but luckily they hadn’t detected Alex or the other man.
But after a few weeks the thumper stopped and of course overwatch came to sort it out. Only 3 units came to fix it but this time they noticed heard a noise from the ship. A Couple of units went to investigate while the other continued work on the thumper. As they got onto the ship they split up, the first one breached a door and was met by the roof collapsing on him. The other unit as he heard this, moved to the other unit not realising the loose panel beneath him which caused him fall down into a small pit of metal pipes. Both units were killed but the third unit was moving in. Alex managed to get to the pit where one unit died and took his SMG and some clips. As the other unit got onto the ship he was met by a barrage of smg bullets. Alex wasn’t the best shot but was at least able to control the gun enough to kill the unit.
Knowing that more overwatch may be on their way Alex and his friend quickly packed as much food as they could then took the weapons from the dead units and the armour from 2 of them. It was heavy but it may save their lives. Once they had everything they quickly headed back for the tunnels they used to get to the coast, thankfully the thumpers held back most of the antlions.
It was easier getting back into the canals this time but Alex and the other member quickly got tired as they has a lot of weight on them. They decided they would hide a small cache of food and the spare smg for later use. They then set about breaching the city. In the summer of 2016 they breached the city undetected. They stayed in the slums in an old warehouse for a few weeks. They managed to barricade every door but one and they made defences in front of the door.
A week after getting into the city and being in the warehouse a sweep was called for the city. The warehouse in which Alex and his friend were hiding was targeted by 4 units. They breached the door, all rushing in, the last thing they expected was the barrage of bullets they had fired at them. 2 died instantly, one ran off, injured and the other was finished by Alex as he rolled on the floor in pain. Alex and his friend quickly took the weapons from the units including a shotgun and some pistols as well as a lot of ammunition. They then changed their armour for the units lighter Kevlar. They then quickly made tracks, they decided the city would be on high alert and the canals would be the best place for them to help.
They once more got out of the city and back into the sewer system. They pushed through and on the way took their cache they stored as they were now low on food. They then moved into the canals through the sewer network. On the way they put a few of their spare weapons and ammunition into safe spots as caches for later use. They managed to make camp in the outlands, they made sure they were ready for the overwatch and for any other refugee's they may find.

(New section)
Alex sprayed his kevlar in different shades of green to camoflauge it making it slightly harder to spot him and stop other refugee's confusing him for a CCA unit which is the exact opposite effect he wanted. Once he had his new clothes on Alex made for a old, blocked off sewage system under a mountain, he found an old hatch into what looked like a disused bunker, climbing into it he found untouched supplies of canned goods, rather old medical supplies and an assortment of other useful items. He put these items to good use, securing the bunker, hiding the entrance to the sewage pipe and making space for any refugee's he may find. Alex made this his camp, it had just what he needed to survive but he needed weaponry, ammunition, what he had wouldnt last. Every day Alex would go our scavenging for anything useful, after days of searching he found a few old guns and a bit of ammo but not much. He only found signs of refugee's though.

On one of his scavenges though Alex found someone, this person also had a vest of some type, it seemed to be more organised though, with a logo on, sadly the person he found was badly hurt, Alex took him back to his bunker, fed him and patched him up as best he could. After many days this man came round. He was still unable to walk, over the days Alex cared for him, ensuring he was safe and getting better. After a few weeks he was good as new, able to care for himself. Alex and the man had gotten close over the weeks, he told Alex of the resistance he was in and what they are doing. Alex listened intently to how they helped and what they did. He asked him to come back and fight with them, Alex knew what he had though was just as useful and declined, saying that he would act as another point of help for all those who need it. He would look for people to help him and ensure that everyone they find in the outlands can survive and to show the combine that the human race doesnt just back down. After much talking and the exchange of radio frequencies to get hold of each other the man departed.
Now Alex helps anyone who comes his way with food, water and a safe place to hide. After many weeks though he started to look for others. He painted a symbol into his uniform he once saw in City 8 and made it his uniform and the uniform of any of those who prove themselves to him, prove they will help him and help the refugee's.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
-The ability to be a more recognised symbol of hope to citizens
-The ability to give a vest to those players worthy of one.

Defects
-A more wanted figure in the combines eyes.
-Constantly hassled by players for a vest (Not that people get them by asking)

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan to organise a new resistance that helps players survive the outlands. Giving food, shelter and medical care if required. Also to give players who prove they are worthy of being a member a vest but only the best players.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
Just me.

Hello everyone. For those who don't me I'm Mmmaaattt94, mainly on HL2RP and OCRP and sometimes on other CG servers. In real life I'm an active person and I'm often doing things for charity. One of the things is a sponsored skydive i will be doing. The charity it is helping is Breast Cancer Campaign, a very good and important charity.
If you wish to sponsor me please do, i will post the link in a spoiler underneath.

I hope that this topic is ok here, i want it to get the most attention and its not advertising for profit, its for charity. If an admin wants to move it i will not object.

Thank you for reading this topic. I will keep the forums updated on the skydive.
