Suggestions / Police Computer -- Improving Realism
« on: April 23, 2013, 02:19:14 PM »
I've got a few ideas that could help improve the realism of the police computer:

  • Doors
    • Remove "OWNED BY: NAME" and replace it with the name of the property and "OWNED" if it has already been purchased. If it is your own property, then state "NAME".
      • This will enhance the usage of the police computers to check owned buildings.
  • Vehicles
    • Remove "OWNED BY: NAME" completely. If it is your own vehicle, then state "NAME".
      • This will enhance the usage of the police computers to check license plate numbers.

Also, a miscellaneous suggestion:

  • Make vehicle headlights able to be toggled via a desired button. My use button, for instance, has always been set to "F", so when I get in and out of a vehicle, my headlights keep turning on and off.

Yeah, happened to me too. This occurs when using the police computer.

Jobs only show for admins above the name.

Oh...Didn't know that.

Can't we do a recognize system so It's not completely removed?

I'm just requesting that OOC doesn't show their IC name. Some people have large OOC and IC names, making the chatbox much too big.

EDIT: I didn't realize I put to remove them from chatbox. I meant from the OOC chatbox only. IC it should stay the way it is.

I agree in all of above but one. About removing IC name from chat. It is always good to know who is who. It also help the dispatcher!

I'd rather it show up in the TAB menu instead.

Fixed Bugs / Bugs Following Release
« on: April 21, 2013, 01:30:13 PM »
Bugs:

  • Most of the vehicle scripts are very screwed up. One big one are the police cruisers.
  • While mayor, even with $500 in the city safe, cash blocks show with a red font as if you can't purchase it even though you can.
  • Invisible radios appear around town and can't be turned off. I can hear them from the suburbs, and they are stuck somewhere in the city.
  • Many cop cars don't have license plates, while others do.
  • Fishing rod causes console error spam.
  • The Social Player award gets awarded to those who already received it, and it also repeats multiple times when the server gets full.
  • Move the job of the person to right under their OOC name, rather than much higher above their IC name.
  • More to come as I find them...

Suggestions:

  • Allow the cash register to be bought via an NPC. Mayors lose out because people are forced to have Carpentry Crafting to have a cash register to make their shops legal.
  • The cellphone should be able to be moved, as it blocks the messages that pop up on that side of the screen.
  • An in-game rules list should be in the "Q" menu.
  • Make the chat in the chatbox smaller and able to hold more lines.
  • Remove IC names from the OOC chatbox.
  • Completely remove the blue jumpsuit outfit and have a different default model.
  • Add a timer to show the time left while crafting.
  • Add furnace as a requirement for those items that need it.
  • Add a number to the bottom right or left of the picture of an item in your inventory telling you how much of an item you have, rather than having to highlight it to see the amount.
  • More to come as I think of it...

Social Discussion / Re: My Dog

I will say this straight up, to teach a dog, you can consult all the methods in the world but the one sure fire one I know works is the same method you use on unruly children.

Beat their mother fucking asses into the ground until they get it. (I am exaggerating.)

Now, mind you, not to the extent of nearly killing them. That is way too far. But what I mean is, when they do something bad, hit them over the head a few times. Not enough to give them a concussion or anything but so they get it. If it growls at you, punch the bitch in her nose and tell her 'No!' so that way she associates hostility and being a mongoloid with pain.

That may sound cruel, but it works. You need to teach it respect. It's an animal, thus it will work off animalistic instincts of establishing dominance. If you don't assert yourself, you are percieved as beta (no joke intended) and that animal will take advantage of you. As with children.

Is that how you would treat your wife or your children? If so, I wish you and them luck. Just make sure you've saved enough in case you need to pay child support in the future.

That's some horrible advice.

Then clearly you and I were raised in different homes and in different parts of the country or world. Because being raised in a Hispanic family, you are quite familiar with la chancla(sandals) and el sinto(belts). Also, this is popular and widely used practice among many, if not all where I am from. I believe it builds character. However, if you establish from the beginning that you are in command, hitting anyone is not necessary. Don't get me wrong, I love animals. I love my animals, I have several animals but you know what? Say what you will, my dogs don't act up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYviBsqwwzE

And yes, because I am disciplining an animal by other means than tapping it on the nose and saying 'Don't do that sweetie~' I am automatically a woman beater. Okay. Pro-logic 2k13.

So because you're Hispanic, you think it's right to punch your pets and/or children or wife in the nose as a form of discipline? There's many other ways of discipline, and hitting with force is not the most effective.

I for one was never hit as a child. However, I still have fear in my dad at times when necessary, even though he's never laid his hands on me. I was still disciplined as much as you were, but more verbally than physically.

That's your prerogative and you are entitled to it. And I never said I punch woman or children in the nose. Don't put words in my mouth, please. I'm not going to argue with you over up bringings. You make it seem like I would beat an animal senseless. There's a difference between socking an animal in the nose hard and a whack to get it to stop acting aggressive. You can stick to your methods of dispilining an animal and I stick to mine. As far as I have seen, the methods I've used are very effective and fast acting. I have not the means of money nor patience to take it to a trainer for weeks.

But I do appreciate the attempt to make me look like an abusive cunt. One gold star for you.

Putting words in your mouth? You said "punch the bitch" and "same method you use on unruly children." That definitely shows that you would in theory do the same to your family.

News and Announcements / Re: Orange Cosmos RP 2 Release Thread
« on: April 19, 2013, 07:46:51 PM »
Due to complications with LUA and such, we can't really make the HUD look as we originally wanted because text effects are limited, making our ideas limited as well.

We hoped for this look:

Regardless, it's the gamemode that matters most, and it's finally being released!

a loading screen still needs to be added
Do you have one to use already or does it still need to be made?

We have ones that will be used for information, but a "release welcome" screen still needs to be made. I was unaware of it until yesterday, so I've got to get on it quickly and get it done when I find time. It'll be ready; don't worry.

The last bit of visuals should be done by tomorrow. A small change in the HUD as well as a loading screen still needs to be added, but after that we should be ready to go.

In order for us to do this, we would definitely need an SMF theme to work with. We're not switching to another host as that's way out of question. Messing around with the theme can also be a pain because sometimes things you "think" would look good actually don't turn out to be. Turning the white on the theme right now to grey would make things look a lot less "professional" in my eyes.

We'd need something good to start with, then people willing to spill in suggestions to improve it from it's standard form.
