Johnathan Issac's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: -ProG- RegiFire - LordFire

IC Character Name: Johnathan Issac

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
Johnathan Issac is a very divided individual. His wife was killed by the Combine during the Seven Hour War. Although Johnathan would hate them like everyone else, he has eaten the purple bags filled with the Universal Union's rations. These rations have caused him to forget why he hates the Universal union as well as foggy up the death of his wife. Because of the rations, Johnathan has lost all knowledge of his past hatred for the Universal Union.

Johnathan is swayed to joining the Universal Union's Combine Civil Authority for another reason as well, they saved his life. Johnathan was in the UCH when a man attempted to beat him unconscious for whatever reason. When Johnathan felt that all hope had been lost, a citizen had reported the actions and a CCA unit came to his rescue. The man was taken in for questioning and was never seen by Johnathan again. This made Johnathan feel a need to give back as he hates leaving favors unattended. A sense of gratitude to the UU was also planted in his heart after he was saved. To keep order, that is the job of a member of the Universal Union.

Another reason that Johnathan feels that joining the Universal Union is a necessity stems from the Seven Hour War and his rations. The Seven Hour War was the brink of the old civilization and the new order with the UU. Johnathan noticed that under the UU, the world was safer in his general area. The means for this security were completely ignored while Johnathan ate his rations, and so he only saw that the Combine Civil Authority creates security and unity among the human civilization. Johnathan admires the order the UU has created greatly. Crime has never been lower in his eyes.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
*Lawful; reports all crimes and obeys all laws set upon him.
*Responsible; will see an appointed task to the end regardless of consequences.
*Obedient; follows orders with little questioning.
*Intelligent; making accurate assumptions based on information.
*Receptive; is easily taught new skills and remembers instruction.
*Stubborn; set mentally on a belief but will not express this physically.

Johnathan Issac is a remarkable fellow, based partially off me, with a few talents that he uses all the time. The first and foremost are his guidelines. Johnathan judges himself constantly, and this makes him be a critique of everything that he thinks of doing. Any and all actions which he performs go under constant criticisms, and so Johnathan thinks his actions through before committing them. Most of the time the most intellectual course of action is to notify a member of the CCA of crimes and other problems which arise in City 45 such as propaganda. Johnathan also believes that laws are set by governments to protect people and so they should not be broken, even if the Universal Union is the one pulling the strings.

Johnathan Issac is a man to get jobs done. When he is assigned a task he will see it through to the end, regardless of the consequences. Johnathan takes any job he is assigned seriously and holds himself accountable for it; this causing most of the work he does to be the best that Johnathan can muster. Although not the best, he will do what is asked to the end and this often pleases his surperiors when he worked through high school-where most of his work ethics were developed-and so Johnathan kept to what he does best. Being responsible.

Johnathan has never been one to openly order others; being a man in power makes him feel watched. When Johnathan is in charge, he feels that his actions carry serious consequences-good or bad-and that even a slight slip could cost him everything he has. Therefore Johnathan simply follows orders, when received, with little to no questioning. This was a work ethic he held while he worked through high school. When Johnathan is put on the spotlight to be a manager he performs his job well; making sure to do the job as efficiently as he can looking at the scene through his Mind's Eye.

There is no way to prove that someone is intelligent; intelligence as a trait is simply too generic. In this case, Johnathan is simply good at making connections. Connections with information to make assumptions. That is what Johnathan does, makes assumptions which are often correct based on the information given to him.

Johnathan is quite receptive. While in college, Johnathan was not much of a troubled student. He was able to quickly learn new skills and apply them to his life outside of the confines of college. His memory was also quite good, and so he was able to retain information he had gained from his experience in and out of school and other education.

Lastly, Johnathan is extremely stubborn. Although he will not admit it, he will often refuse to change his point of view on anything mentally. Instead, he will play his part and lie like a dog even if he doesn't believe what he's talking about. Just so long as what he says benefits himself, he'll say it.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
Every Half Life 2 roleplay server is different in many ways. Some differentiate in how much the canon is used as a guideline wheras others manage factions differently. Communities may have their own, "special," modified version of OpenAura. No matter how each community differs, it all boils down to one important thing: the players. Players cause the roleplay to occur and based what I've seen on the server I can make some unfinished conclusions on what I can expect the CCA to be like. It will be hard to get used to-as not every server is as strict with the CCA as yours-but my experience with Universal Union-based factions will aide me greatly. The roleplay will be passive mostly, developing my character while on patrols. Citizens will ask for aide as I become a high enough ranked unit to be of any use to them. Rebels and, "lolwebulz," will be persecuted against on a basis while In-Character-which is most of the time save when I'm away. When in potentially harmful situations, the roleplay can get more and more tense. All-in-all, I can describe the CCA to be a fun experience on Catalyst Gaming. The faction is quite hard to get into, since the applications are looked at so harshly, and no-doubt roleplays of upmost seriousness will be located within the faction.

My character, Johnathan Issac, doesn't know what to expect at all. The CCA for him is a new domain that he has never even begun to venture into. He believe that it will be a bit fun to converse with members of the CCA while in the force, but his shift will be autonomous in action. Johnathan would simply move like a robot on his patrol route, or so he thinks, because it appears to be accepted behavior from the surface. Johnathan feels like this is like college almost, except more stressful and a higher danger of being hurt. Adapting to the new environment will difficult since he knows nothing on CCA etiquiete currently, but he believe it will be rewarding and even fun. Johnathan is correct about the danger but it comes from both sides, not just from the rebel side. Johnathan doesn't quite realize that his days as a member of the CCA will be dull since he expects it to be punctuated with gunfights and other such events which involve Anti-Citizens-not that'd he tell anyone what he thought. All-in-all, Johnathan believes the CCA will be rewarding for him and quite a challenge to adapt to the new ways of the CCA.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Johnathan Issac; a man who has changed over these many years. Johnathan started out as a child with a dynamic dream, always changing. His father, Frederick Issac, was a man who set high hopes for his child. As Johnathan's father invested in the education held so dear in the Issac family, Johnathan himself found out his real aspiration: Engineering. Although Johnathan didn't know the first thing about fixing cars or repairing a pen, Johnathan learned about Computer Engineering. When he hit the teens, Johnathan would spend hours on a computer and a fat book labeled, "Beginner's Guide to Coding." As the child grew through   college preparatory, the dream was cemented in place and his degree in Computer Engineering was seized.

Johnathan worked as a software developer, trying to sell his product. He borrowed money off his father to support himself while he waited for the opportunity to get his first sale. Now, Johnathan was never a gifted salesmen and would never be able to convince anyone into buying his product, but Johnathan didn't expect to find the love of his life to be an excelling saleslady. Julia was her name and through his time with her, Johnathan grew in love. After they were married, they opened up their business together. Julia managed the marketing end while Johnathan went on developing his software. Frederick continued to fund the business until it took off. Unfortunately, they never really got that far into their work.

As Johnathan headed home after a long day of work, he fished his keys out of his pockets and saw a blue flash of light. As Johnathan looked around the far off flash of light, he saw nothing. As he moved a bit closer, a second appeared. Then Johnathan saw what was happening. The blue light had destroyed everything from what he could see. There was a small indent, or for all he could see it might have been a crater, far off from the city he lived in. The second light moved a bit closer to the town and annihilated everything that it had touched. Blue light rippled forth and hit the town; it was as if an earthquake had struck. Mass panic grew and the people ran into their cars and drove away. The televisions in electronic's stores shone with a new alert, telling people to find shelter in a nearby stadium or public facility. Footage of strange Xen Creatures appeared and warned people of the dangers the humankind already knew about them.

Johnathan fled with his wife to the stadium and they waited. The portal storms went by and destroyed parts of the stadium to bits, many had died. Some were lucky and were able to keep away from the blue lights of death. The police were weak from the Xen Aliens and could not fight them forever. The worst had gone, or so they thought. The Combine came and in seven short hours the world was conquered. Johnathan was spared by a cruel fate, but his wife was murdered. He was relocated to City 45. Rations worked on his mind and soon he forgot why the Combine were so hated. His wife's death was foggy and he couldn't recall how she was killed. So began his path to realizing the Combine were amazing and that he wished to do Our I'M A MASSIVE FUCKING FAG HOYL SHIT hepl well.

5) Have you ever had a CCA character here at Catalyst Gaming?  If so, explain why it was removed.
None.

OOC Details

1. How long have you played on role-playing servers in general?
Roleplay, I have been at for around 6 years. Garrysmod has been less, probably more around 2 years I'd think. And only 1.5 years on Half Life 2 roleplay.

2. How long have you played on serious servers?
Around 1.5 years, I'd wager.

3. How long have you played on Catalyst Gaming?
Month.

4. What Time zone are you in?
UTC-7

5. In what country do you live?
United States

6. How old are you?
14

7. What’s your most memorable quality RP experience?
I believe it was quite a long time ago, even I don't remember it too well. I believe I was promoted for saving the City Administrator within the MPF, the servers Combine authority, from members of the Resistance. As you can guess, the server didn't exactly make the Combine too strong but it was still enjoyable.

8. Do you consider yourself a good listener?
I would consider myself to be a good listener, but that's me. I suppose you'll want other people's opinion on it of course...  Spoiler for Hidden: http://steamcommunity.com/id/RegiFire/screenshot/612714390020398475/? http://steamcommunity.com/id/RegiFire/screenshot/612714390021373657?tab=public

I believe I was never apprehended for a Sociostability Infringement before, my record is clean to my knowlegde.

2. Do you regularly eat Combine Civil Authority Issued Rations?
They're the only things I eat.

3. Are you willing to give your life to the cause of the Universal Union?
My life is nothing to the purpose to which I server; I am merely a tool for the Universal Union. I give my life to the Universal Union.

4. Do you as a Citizen and future Civil Protection Member accept ALL actions performed by you and those under your command as your OWN responsibility?
Yes, and with this acceptance I shall accept full consequences for my actions.

5. Will you remain loyal and faithful to the Universal Union as long as you live?
Whatever the Universal Union asks of me, I shall do it. In answer to your question, I shall for as long as I draw breath.

6. Why do you want to join the Combine Civil Authority?
The reason why I want to join the Combine Civil Authority, or CCA, is very simple. The CCA have been able to bring down crime rates to a low; citizens who resist are often killed or faced with harsh punishments which I believe are appropriate for acts of terrorism. The CCA have also saved my life once in an incident which involved a "rebel," or terrorist as I like to call them, who attempted to knock me out inside the Union Civil Housing, or UCH. An officer promptly showed up before I was able to be beaten with a citizen who reported the crime. The man was quickly detained and I never saw him again; my life most likely saved by a member of the CCA. By joining the CCA I feel as if I'm giving back to the people who undeniably saved my life; the Universal Union.

The Combine Civil Authority has been able to save so many citizens, I find it insane that others would ever try to overthrow them and post propaganda in the UCH.

Please sign the attached oath using only blue or black pen.

I, Johnathan Issac hereby swear my mind, body and soul to the Universal Union forever so long as I draw breath. I do so knowing that my actions will be held accountable to me and solely myself. I also declare my knowledge that as a Member of The Universal Union that I will be required to perform tasks above and beyond as well as perform ANY task ordered to by ANY commanding person(s). I hereby acknowledge the fact that as a Civil Protection Task-force Unit that I will be losing most, if not all, communication and or past relationship with anyone outside of the Universal Union's operational bounds.

Greetings Executor!
What is your favorite video game of all time?
Why is it your favorite video game of all time?
Who is your favorite character from the video game?
What would you rate it out of ten?

1.) Half Life/Garrysmod
2.) Because I get to RP all day every day and shoot NPCs.
3.) Garry Newman, obviously.
4.) 1337/10

You ask why, I ask why not.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Having errors (seing errors) Download this!
« on: October 18, 2011, 07:51:51 PM »
Greetings Executor!
Errors? What kind of errors do they fix, exactly? Model errors? Texture errors? I have a ton of stuff on my computer and don't want to add any junk that I don't need. So I'd like to know what exactly errors they fix. Please use a direct example of it from the server via screenshot or something to that affect if you can.

Plus, why isn't this listed under downloads? I also think that is a problem. Perhaps if you were to depict this download in more detail it'd be helpful for people like me. Thanks.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Red Union?

Greetings Executor!
I can't say I know either, but my limited knowledge can paint you a basic picture of them since no one else will.

The Red Union is an organization which is trying to overturn the Universal Union. My conjecture is that they would be a terrorist group of some sort.

Of course, this is better found out ICly rather than OOCly. And I don't think you need to post a thread to find out, I mean if you steam chatted someone who knows, read a few other threads, or used the shoutbox you'd find an answer.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: The Issue With Citizen +20 Tokens Payroll
« on: October 18, 2011, 07:22:26 PM »
Greetings Executor!
We get tokens for standing around and doing nothing? Awesome!

But I digress. Truthfully, I agree with your opinion that tokens should only be gained via rations-or other things like jobs-because how would you get tokens by waiting around for that long? ICly, it makes no sense which is why I don't think it should be. People who stay on the server for hours JUST to get tokens have no lives, but that is very wrong in my opinion. RP servers should be joined to develop your character not to get money. If this poses a problem, I'd vote for it to be changed.

LINE OF EDIT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, I'd like to know when the screenshot was taken. In the morning or night? I mean there are only three people on the server. How do you know they arn't RPing? I'd like evidence that they're just standing there for tokens.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Lolwebulz!! LOL!

Greetings Executor!
This is bullshit though. For example, People with vests are called lolwebels too and yet if they have earned that vest then they are probably ten times better a rper than you, So also i have never really seen propaganda apart from in D6 area which is where most rebels hide anyway, If thats the way they want to rp let them. But i agree a bit sometimes people just mingerun and stuff not to be pked, But that is the one persons problem not the whole organisation.

I'll have to disagree. I've seen Red Union propaganda inside the Apartments many a time. Inside the trainstation, I have seen propaganda too.
The only thing that bugs me about it is that they are physics gun frozen into walls so I can't throw them outside or give them to a member of the CCA. Especially when the propaganda is outside my door, it makes me look suspicious if a CCA member were to see that.

But yes, of course some rebels can RP very well and people mistake them for, "lolwebulz" for a number of reasons. None of which I can name, but they have to have a reason don't they?

A new player saying hello to another new player. How has the world fallen?
Anyways, I'm sure you will like Catalyst Gaming. The people on the HL2RP server are very nice, aside from the occaisional new player or minge, but admins take care of those problems quickly.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy it here.
You WILL enjoy it here or I will be very angry and upset. And you won't like me when I'm angry and upset. Actually, you won't like me in general I guess.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Change away from City45
« on: October 17, 2011, 09:25:34 PM »
Greetings Executor!
I think we should either get of City 45 or at least make it less laggy for people. I go on that and I cannot stand in the plaza for awhile without feeling a huge drop in FPS. Not only that, but I have crashed quite a few times on this server. This may not have been caused by the map, but it's always a plausible idea since I crash while in the plaza.

City 45 is a good map though, just laggy and causes me to crash. I have no other complaints against it.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Lolwebulz!! LOL!

Greetings Executor!
No, let me wrap this up: YOU DON'T SPREAD PROPAGANDA FUCKING EVERYWHERE PUBLICLY.

You spread it fucking everywhere, even where CPs can see, stop it, seriously. Just because you where allowed to burn down the CWU doesn't mean that your automatically not Lolwebels.

Sincerely
OfC.620.

Okay then, Don. Give me a definition of 'lolwebuls'. Because obviously we do not have the same idea as one another. After that, justify your reason for labeling us as such.

On the other hand, yes. We have a lot of propaganda. But do the CCA even have a hint of where Red Union is? Or who the members are? I think not.

Lolwebels = People who aren't secretive, people who don't act like actual rebels, that they wouldn't go spreading the word about them everywhere, we've destroyed at least 10 pieces of your propaganda already, it's getting old, fucking stop.

This topic isn't dedicated to not calling Red Union 'Lolwebuls', It's about all RebelRP. And what isn't secretive about us? We have not been located, caught, or even identity knowledge.

So many quotes, very little space.

Anyways, this interests me greatly as I keep hearing about, "lolwebulz" all the time but I don't think that a common definition of them has been established. What are, "lolwebulz" exactly? You need a common ground to stand on if you want to debate about them, in my opinion.

I agree with Don Captain about spreading propaganda everywhere publicly. Based on what has been stated in this thread, I conclude that no rebels have been caught or at least no information about the Red Union's members has been leaked to the CCA. Even though the rebels have been secretive when they put up their propaganda, they shouldn't simply stick it up where all the CCA is going to see it. Truthfully, the rebels should be a bit scared that a Loyalist or a CCA member will see them and report them.

However, The Krusader makes a valid point that they have not been caught or information about their wherabouts has not been squeezed by captured members. Also, they should not be classified as, "lolwebulz" because they might not be entirely secretive, but they do act like rebels by the simple knowledge that A. they have not been caught and B. that no instance, an actual instance, of being an, "lolwebul" has been posted in this thread.

To speak of other things; we're getting off topic here. This is to discuss, "lolwebulz" not CCA metagaming or how the Red Union advertises itself. I believe that the first step to debating this issue is to establish an, "lolwebulz" moment using an actual instance from the server. Only then can you actually get this spot on, as I say. Either establish what an, "lolwebul" is or establish what real rebels should act like. Then you can see what people do wrong and classify that as being an, "lolwebul."

As to my opinion, and I am not a rebel of any sort nor am I a member of the CCA, an, "lolwebul" is someone who simply believe that rebels are the best of the best and are able to be Gordon Freeman. They display very violent acts in public-an instance I had witnessed involved a black Asian man forcing me to join an organization which opposed the Combine-with no regard to the repercussions of their acts. "Lolwebulz" do not fear RP very well, in my eyes, and do infact see their character as just a save file in a videogame. They do not see characters as actual people who would not want to risk their lives by attacking members of the CCA in public without a set plan. "Lolwebulz" are often not very secretive and are caught easily by members of the CCA. "Lolwebulz" to me are minges for the most part, as rebels would RP well.

That is my two cents on this issue. Please feel free to return it at any time.

Johnathan Issac's Journal

Entry #01, City 45
Greetings to all who come across this novel of sorts. I am Johnathan Issac, the sole proprietor of this journal. For those whose eyes are not meant for this book, allow me to describe myself to you in basic detail.
I am a white caucasian man who stands at 5 feet 8 inches. My eyes are gray and my face often carries an expression of boredom. My hair is black and untidy, but clean. I have a small scar across my right hand, caused by an acciedent with a sewing machine long ago. My citizen "jumpsuit" as it were is blue and worn. The colors have faded from it. My shoes, made of a brown material, are not too comfortable and a size too big for my feet. My shoes are worn out; the color fading and the laces becoming unraveled.
My personality is a bit complex, however. I am a person who is a loyalist, but I believe Our Benefactors should have some punishment upon them for the genocide of our entire race. A punishment unlike any other, yet I continue to do work for them and often help them with menial tasks and reporting any illegal activities. I am a blank slate, other than that. No feelings no matter who I encounter. I simply put on a fake face and stand silently.

Ah, look at the time! I have wasted so much time writing about myself that I have no time to write much more. Today I cleaned the streets as well as some windows. I also reported a sort of back-door wall that I had seen in the Diordna.

-Johnathan Issac

Introductions / Salutations

Greetings Executor!
Saluations, one and all, I am RegiFire. Most of you are going to hate me, and that is a fact.

I've been roleplaying for a long time...
It started a long time ago when I purchased the game Garrysmod on Steam. There I joined DarkRP for awhile, probably for a year. After that, I found my first server which used OpenAura. The server was owned by X-Hosters and was made for Half Life 2 roleplays.

Since then, I've jumped from many different communities. Each one keeps dying off, so I am quite pessimistic about any server I join.
I have been roleplaying for a long time since I found Garrysmod, probably two years, as well as roleplaying long before I found Garrysmod on other places.
I am the Co-Founder of The Brink Gaming and previous Co-Owner. I am the Co-Owner of Prominent Gaming. And I am the previous Super Admin of Digital Entertainment and Second Suns RP, just to keep a mental note of that.

I love games like Phoenix Wright and Starcraft II. Roleplay, of course, is on the top of my list. I also deem stalking children under the age of 10 an acceptable practice. Causing great annoyance to others also interests me quite a lot.

AND THAT'S IT FOLKS. I hope none of you are twins because GLaDOS told me that they don't have souls. :|
