Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Castles Fall, but the Foundations Remain
« on: August 25, 2012, 05:50:23 PM »
Goodbye Catalyst Gaming

Its been a ton of fun, and I really mean that. Between the ups and downs of running the Castle, the paragraphs upon paragraphs of debates on the forums, and the backdoor shady steam conversations that fueled the Castle, I can honestly say that it has been a blast. I'm not going to create a long goodbye as Toxillium has because I'm not all that good at that kind of writing. But I would like to simply say goodbye, I'm joining the United States Airforce here in the next few months and as you can imagine that kind of business doesn't leave very much free time.

Good luck to all of you here at Catalyst Gaming, despite the arguments we've had this really is a one-of-a-kind community filled with good individuals.

When you first invited me to CG did you expect our partnership to go this far?

Greg Castles says you're doing it wrong... nice attempt though.

You know people always talk about "RapeRP" and I don't doubt that its happened. But I have literally never seen it, or heard about it from anyone. I saw more rape victims back on the city server then I do on Outlands. You must be missing a lot of RP if all you think happens on Outlands is rape.

I've got to admit that I'm really excited about moving to the Outlands, the city has gotten extremely boring for me. Nowadays I find that I don't enjoy running the bar, I don't enjoy meandering around Precinct Three, and I can't set foot in Precinct One anymore because if I do my character will be hauled off to the Nexus in a heartbeat. The city has just gotten real old for me and I really am looking forward to the change of scenery.

The Outlands is just a whole different ballgame. I find that the roleplay is much more slow paced which I like because it gives me a chance to develop my character and choose my responses. I've found that in the city I end up talking in three different conversations to six different people and I never am able to actually ACT like my character. So I'm happy that I'll finally be able to develop my character's personality and everything that goes with making a unique character.

Roven has a great vision for a plausible and possible economic system that could be implemented on the server. While it will take time and effort by a lot of people to get it done I think in the end it would be of great benefit to the server to get some of Roven's projects rolling like this Civil Affairs Bureau

This event is being postponed until Roven gets back from his trip. Sorry to everyone I spoke to and told that it was Monday. I'll try and get into contact with everyone so I can update you all on the situation. Once again I apologize for delaying the event.

Im not sure what this arguement is about now. First it was that people disconnected to avoid RP but we moved on from that. Then it was where people got biogel and apparently we've moved on from that as well. And now we are talking about how difficult it is to use biogel? I'm not sure what the point of any of this is but if you have any problems with how I or anyone else roleplays please feel free to give constructive criticism.

Toxillium has already stated that he will post an application for medical experience as he wasn't aware that you needed to apply for it. It was an honest mistake that is being fixed as we speak. So that problem is resolved.

As for where we get our supplies, we get them through IC means and we don't just spawn things out of the business menu (Well I will admit it has happened a few times). Most of the time we get it through various suppliers who come through The Castle, they roleplay their shipments and usually do it very well. I don't see a problem here, quite a few admins know about how we get our supplies and none of them have said anything about it. If its a problem then we can work on resolving it instead of causing drama over it.

And as for what happened in the server with Sectus I'm fairly sure we are just moving on. Whether it was miscommunication between Sectus and I or something else I don't know. If you still believe there is a problem then maybe we can discuss it through private messages or over steam.

I'm not trying to cause drama here, drama just naturally arises when you have groups like these. I'm here to resolve any problems anyone might have without causing a fuss. If you have problems you can private message me, add me on steam, but I do want to do my best to keep this thread free of the drama.

Also, you all just need to learn to either deal with Roven or ignore him, thats just who he is. I've known him for years and he has always been like this. The sooner you accept the fact that he is just an asshole the sooner you can get along with him.

All of our supplies are obtained ICly by a number of suppliers or from those who have donated supplies to The Castle. Everything I've gotten I've been told is through legitimate IC means. And no Roven's CWU character has not given us any supplies. We try to receive our supplies from out-of-house individuals to avoid these problems.

So much drama stemming from a small player-ran group, sigh.

Unfortunately thats how its probably always going to be. Its kind of unavoidable even though we try our best not to cause drama.

What?

Im confused as to how I or anyone else disconnected to avoid RP when I asked you if it was ok to disconnect (It being 4 AM) and you said that that it was. I stuck around far after I should have and finished the roleplay between us just so this wouldn't be a problem. You held us up in The Castle and told us to give you biogell, I gave you the keys to the clinic and told you our biogell was there, I told you that I was wanted to disconnect and go to sleep and asked if it was ok if I left, you said yes, I left. That was the extent of all the events I took part in while I was on the server.

Not to mention, we weren't held up at all. You were locked outside of The Castle for almost an hour, I'm not obligated to answer the door. And from what I'm told the only time you got into The Castle was after I disconnected and the door became unowned. If you could explain how you "Held us at gunpoint." When you never ICly got inside the door then that would be grand.

Also I don't think its fair to say we are scared of losing when we are the most underpowered group on the server. We've lost plenty of people to Civil Protection and other criminals. And we started it all, and got where we are today because the players in The Castle put effort into it. I don't understand how we are afraid of losing.
