So, I got the Mass Effect pack on sale the other day, and I saw this article in the news section: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/20/bioware-asks-should-mass-effect-4-be-a-sequel-or-a-prequel/?ns_campaign=article-feed&ns_mchannel=ref&ns_source=steam&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0 (http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/20/bioware-asks-should-mass-effect-4-be-a-sequel-or-a-prequel/?ns_campaign=article-feed&ns_mchannel=ref&ns_source=steam&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0)
Of course, along with every other Mass Effect fan, my first thought was, "Why?" It took four years to build what would have been one of the most respected game trilogies of all time, and only 5 minutes to bring it all crashing down. Is a fourth installment worth it? If so, should it be a sequel or a prequel?

been one of the most respected game trilogies of all time
uh no

Uh yes.
Despite the sub-par ending I would like to see how the universe has changed after out actions of green/red/blue. Perhaps it could mean radically different campaigns.

I would prefer a prequel, maybe something set in the first contact war?
overall, what happened with Mass Effect 3 is they wanted to put so much of the extended universe that you had to read the entire fucking thing to understand the ending.
But personally, I like the extended cut endings and think they do their job well.

You left out the keyword before the quote: "would have been one of the most respected game trilogies of all time"
On topic, I'm one of those people who would prefer Mass Effect: The Game to just die. Bioware killed it, and anymore attempt to continue it will only alienate more people. I'm all for expansion into the books and anime, though.

Except the anime they are making looks to me like a crappy cash-in.
GOOD anime would be nice though.

I enjoyed all of the mass effects and though I hate saying this but the ending they put in the last one was needed. Playing Shepard for a fourth time would have gotten repetitive and the gaming community would of pointed out their cash cow motives not diverting from the "safezone". Either way if it's a prequel or sequel I will buy the game because of how good of a trilogy it was and the amazing gameplay it brought forward.
