Title: Fallout or Skyrim?
Post by: Cat With A Mustache on June 21, 2012, 09:52:18 PM
Fallout is a great game, its a role-playing game with guns and choices ans such and set in a future time period after a giant ass nuclear war with Chine (I think) . Skyrim is the The same thing but involves swords, bows, magic, and is set in a time, i don't know, the past or something, anyways they both seem like great games, but i don't know what too choose. Fallout or Skyrim?

I have always liked the fantasy like game series Elder Scrolls, I am a nerd for that.. Fallout is however good as well and I would take either one.

I like the aspects of both. Skyrim brings the mythical and fantasy aspects to the table, but I'd almost have to go with Fallout, because I like the post-war 1950's retro feel.

In my honest opinion, when I played Fallout 3 and New Vegas, my mind was blown.  However, after playing Skyrim, I can't go back.

I have to say, New Vegas was good.. but it felt like I was playing Fallout 3 over again.

They are both great games, although Skyrim really didn't keep me hooked on the game. I played it for a little bit, but I got bored of it easily. The quests you have to do are not that appealing to me and just the game bores me. It is fun when you come across a dragon when you are exploring, but other than that, the game just got really dull really fast. I like Fallout 10x more, as the quests you have to do are amazing and fun. When you explore I am mind blown, I walk to the top of a mountain and see the tall buildings of New Vegas, or I walk though a bunch of buildings and find a massive ship/town in fallout3. The Fallout series just seems so much better than the Elder Scroll series, although Oblivion was a really good game, a lot better than Skyrim.

tl;dr Fallout is better than Skyrim.

For both Elder Scrolls and Fallout (that I've played) this is my opinion:

Fallout 2 & 1 > Morrorwind > Oblivion > Fallout 3 > Skyrim > Daggerfall

Best     ---------------------------------------------------- ------------ worst (but not bad)

The original Fallouts and Fallout 3 can't even be compared to any elder scrolls game. Fallout is just so much more immersive and and enjoyable, The Elder Scrolls just feels like some generic nerdy knights and dragons RPG, no where near as original as the Fallout series.

Wasteland nuclear apocalypse is original now?

Wasteland nuclear apocalypse is original now?

When Fallout originally came out, it was a somewhat original setting that hadn't really been done on the scale that Fallout did it. Also I have to say its 10x more original even now than The Elder Scroll's setting, yet that's just my opinion.

Skyrim-Easier to mod, better character, wide variation of customization, not as creepy, Horker  ;D

I am going to have to agree with cow on this one. While Skyrim is fun and enjoyable at first after a while it becomes dull and boring when the quests are running thin and they become even more non-exciting. Somewhere near the end of the game while I was playing my Two-Handed warrior I literally did not take damage and I killed everything in one swing. I had insane amounts of armor because of my heavily worked on heavily crafted and heavily enchanted armor (of the Daedric origin.) One of the main things I don't like about skyrim is the lack of choice in character skills, being limited to Thief, Warrior, and Mage is very boring even though there are some area's in them that are quite... Other worldy ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhBiNx749Zw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhBiNx749Zw) )... One more thing is that while exploring you will always find yourself in either a plains or a forest which is very dull.

Fallout on the other hand has quests that are extremely fun and exciting and never really bore you even on the second playthrough. One thing about weapons in Fallout is that you either have a high powered weapon or a lot of ammo, not both which can and will balance out the game. Fallout gives you a lot of choices that your character can take unlike in Skyrim if you take time to think you can come up with almost anything that you want to fight as in Fallout. On this I agree with cow that in your exploration of the environment you can find almost anything and because of the good graphics it is pretty good eye candy when you stand atop a mountain to look down upon Vegas.

Fallout is the way to go in my opinion.

I loved Fallout 3. That's a game I can go back and play over and over again. The only reason why I play Skyrim again is because of mods and stuff.

I haven't ever played Fallout 3 with mods installed.

To me it seems as skyrim is more extensive to me (more side quest and goodies) as just the game itself and no dlc or anything i usually just play the main story line and dont bother with any else unless its DLC.

Though i have to say Fallout 3 has an amazing story and intresting to play through and thus how they extended its ass kicking with an dlc that extends the story further.
FalloutNV however feels alil cut shorter so it seems more fitting to the vet of fallout games while the new guy happens to be dumb struck with all the new features of the game.

Skyrim i felt as i said more extensive on its side quest. but still offers a good story the least. Plus the new DLC coming which will involve vampires which ill pick up skyrim again for that.

In my hand i'd vote for the fallout series sorry but fallout 3 and NV have currently more bright sides in my eyes. :)

Skyrim. Massive freerom, and along with a medevil setting. The many diffrent bows, sword, and paths you can take in the game are all amazing. I played mage myself. Fall out or Skyrim you will still get some glitches however. In conclusion I would have to go with Skyrim.

Well Skyrim was like an "WOW" experience..  and i has a great mod-system.. but i just think it went the same really quick.. on the other hand Fallout.. Man i cant get enough of that.. even though I've finished fallout 3 and fallout NV i still play it just to find new hidden quests :D!

So.... Fallout <3

I got bored of skyrim after hitting level 23.

Fallout 3 though I've gotten to around level 40 before getting bored.

So it would have to be fallout for me.

Fallout and skyrim are two whole different games.  Fallout is a post apocalyptic role play game where you explore the world having gunfights, helping wastelanders, being an all out murderer, etc.  Skyrim is a game where you are the dragonborn, an adventurer in medieval times fighting dragons, skeletons, and anything you find!  It doesn't use guns or anything but it's still pretty fun.  I haven't played Fallout much so I prefer Skyrim.

While I love Skyrim, I must go for Fallout. I have spent almost 600 hours in the Capital Wastes and around 560 in New Vegas, the games just have such a strong atmosphere to them, just exploring the world over and over offers different thing to be seen every time. I've even taken to attaching myself to trade caravans and moving with them/protecting them as the go from town to town.

Fallout, The slightly creepy feeling you get keeps you awake slightly longer if pulling an all nighter.

Got bored of both games in less than 5 hours, I guess I'm not much of an RPG gamer, but I like MMORPG's. It's sorta weird, right?

IMHO, They are both boring. Fallout it's cool, but in 20 minutes you will be bored as hell. Skyrim.. well, overrated. Good, but nothing special.

Fallout 3 is my all time favorite game, and in my opinion one of the pioneers in One Player Roleplay. It combines deep development and content with a format that literally opens up a world for you to explore at your own pace. Skyrim was a great game, but in all reality, the map was designed to make it linear, which to me defeats the purpose of "open world". When Vault 101 opened, sure the door pointed toward Megaton, but all sides were open and you could take any path you chose; as opposed to Skyrim, where the only legit "IC" choice is to follow an NPC to the nearest town, then be sent up a road to the next. I think it was less entertaining because it limits the adventure, unless you disobey the game and stray from the clearly over-beaten path.

Also, the writing of Fallout 3 was amazing. The most unimportant characters had their own stories and consistent personalities, where as in Skyrim, the only characters with any individuality are directly quest related.

Let me know what you think.

Before anyone jumps on my last post, I know Fallout 3 came WAY late to the party as far as RPG's go, but being a huge fan of RPGs, old and new, I felt that Fallout 3 introduced another dimension to gaming by adding character development and even self-discovery (with the Karma system and emotional response from NPCs when you aren't trying to solicit either one) in a way older games and other new games failed to do. That is why I feel it is a pioneer, because it introduces something new to the genre as a whole.

I would say Skyrim, it is a much more immersive game in my opinion and I believe Bethesda took much more time with Skyrim than they had with fallout.

I personally prefer Skyrim. Fallout can get boring after consistent hours of playing and isn't very immersive. Skyrim, to me at least, has better reply value along with it being much more immersive. There is a larger map and many more locations to go to, so in the end, I choose skyrim

Really liked both Skyrim and Fallout. However, Fallout scared the crap out of me sometimes because I'm a stupid girl.

So Skyrim is my favorite, mainly cuz I can play it without flipping out.

I disagree with the Fallout statement, I have ended up playing it for hours on end and not even noticing. You should try playing with mods to make your experience more immersive.

Not played Skyrim yet, but Fallout: NV was pretty good imo. Not got through the entire thing since I need to be in the mood for RPG's but I played a bit and it seemed good.

Just noticed last post before mine was a necro post. Shit lol :S

Locked.
