Creations / What do you guys think?
« on: January 04, 2012, 08:54:03 PM »
Hey there people that read this topic. As some of you may not have known I have been developing an app for iPhone/iPod for the advanced programming class that I've been taking and I think I may have done pretty well for my first app. Here's a picture of it along with the SDK used to create the app (yes, I know it's on a mac, get over it; it works after all): http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=147fwm&s=5 . It's taken me about 5 days of school work to pull it off since I'm fairly new to programming in lua but I've tested all the buttons and they do work. The resume however will only work if you used the pause button. Also note in the picture that all the buttons used were of my own creation, the banner picture however was not of my own creation, but rather a resizing through photoshop to make it fit across the screen. There's a poll up for you to leave anonymous comments if you so choose, however, if you don't want to be anonymous then go ahead and post. Thanks for allowing me to take a moment of your time.

EDIT: Sorry guys, did a little more revising on the app, it's still kickass, but I made the glare effect of the button less so that people have a better chance of being able to "read" the song titles (at least to the best of my ability to put them on a 77 x 37 size picture which doesn't use all of the size) so I'll keep the link up with the first version and have the revised copy up here: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1z4ki06&s=5 .
I hope that it's possible to get it up on the app store, not sure but considering I've been doing this on a trial version of Corona SDK I'd say I've done pretty well for only just starting to learn a little bit of lua. Thanks for the support for the guys that went with option 2 - 4 on the vote and those that gave their positive opinion about the app. Also Noah, I mainly did this because a sound/music board app is one of the easier things to start out with and the fact that it's basically my final in Advanced Programming, yes I do get a grade for doing this stuff in school even though it's not a registered class you still can have it count as a half math credit which means I'll graduate with 5 credits in math :)

EDIT 2: almost forgot, the next step in my app, after seeing if I can test it on my iPod or soon to have iPhone 4S, is to make the app thumbnail to be the album cover.

Read homestuck/Look at homestuck forums/Look at homestuck pictures/Watch homestuck video's/HOMESTUCK.

Besides all that, I tend to either listen to music or hang out with friends.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that reads Homestuck, I need to get back to reading other webcomics like Grim Tales on SNAFU or something, but otherwise I listen to music, doing something for my creative writing class (need to get my 40 pages of "raw" writing done before we get back in) thinking of things that could turn into a story for my creative writing class, thinking of what I could've done better in adv. programming (a class I'm in and finally making an app for which we might be able to put up in the app store, not sure yet), learn programming languages (learning lua now, have enough basic knowledge of HTML, CSS(5), VB, and C) watch stuff on Netflix (or Nutflixquackster or whatever you want to call it (those that watch SNL will get it, don't worry if you don't)), find new anime to watch (even if it gets borderline-ish, then it's really fun to watch :P), browse the forums sometimes, or try to hang out with a friend or two. But that's pretty much it. Oh shit, almost forgot that I sometimes look up the origins of sayings, still trying to find where "cool beans" started.

You forgot to take everything that is under tetlol and set it to Krystalneka... tetlol is not my account, Krystalneka is....  I joined it today and got mad D:
^ lol
But yeah, it's great to see that the mob disguise works, although I can't tell it myself since it shows me in my skin when I do the F3 view. Although the book writing, that's going to be a little funny for some people, although I could probably make my own book with a list of warps. I'm also kinda shocked that you added a silverfish mass mob wave like I sarcastically suggested in-game. XD
If you think thats a joke just survive till wave 20.
I have seen people that survived wave 20 and the rest died on wave 23 I think it was, god though, I was the chef for that party XD

General Discussion / Re: What games should I start playing?
« on: November 11, 2011, 04:50:28 PM »
I agree with Veran about Borderlands, it is a kick ass game and they're about to come out with Borderlands 2 which gives a little more story to the guys from Borderlands 1.
Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe are also great, they both have multiplayer capability, but both are for xbox only. PSO is xbox, gamecube, and PC though. PC version however is PSOE4BB (Phantasy Star Online Episode 4 Blue Burst) which is episodes 1 and 2 combined I guess and has a little more on it. There are still some servers up for PSOBB but not really many. Still need to get back to playing PSU since I am almost done with the story and haven't been on it in a while.
Not sure if you would count game mods for this, but I'd also suggest getting Nightmare House 2 cause it is supposed to kinda scare the shit out of you. Although if you saw the walkthrough vids that I did, it made it so funny and you just can't take it seriously when you see the Easter Egg.
One of my favorite RTS's would be Dawn of War by Warhammer 40k and there's quite a few of those with free multiplayer and you can get the first one with the first 2 expansions pretty cheap, got them for me for a total of $30 at Best Buy.
That's all I can really think of at the moment for good PC games to get and play around on.

Wow, what a plot twist. Gotta admit, I love the darkness of this story. Then again, I've always enjoyed reading novels that have some sort of death in them, whether it be the death of some ideals or a person. God damn though, good job.

you like to do haikus?
Meh, they're easy to do, even if you break the tradition of them being for nature; like my Creeper Haiku above your post XD. But I really like to do any kind of poetry, it's just that limericks have become a bit harder to come up with. Main reason I've been doing all these though is cause I'm in a Creative Writing class with 3 deadlines that are 500 points each: 80+ lines of poetry, 2000+ words of fiction, and 1000+ words of non-fiction. Thought the poetry would be the easiest to do and be done with, especially since I have to play the violin part for the musical You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. But really guys, this isn't a thread of my poetry alone. Let out your own inner creativity and share with the community. Or just plagiarize off of those that post their poetry for your own English poetry assignments. :P

Edit: managed to get another poem in with the help of a friend yesterday. Damn though, it sounds sorta like a Nickelback song really, I mean, just look at the title. Anyways, here it is, the last of the poems I needed for at least 80 lines of poetry:

Stone Cold Drunk Love

You tend to defile what I gave to you,
I wanted to make you mine, but you were.
You said that you really wanted it too,
I grasped the concept for you were ere.
Like the hammer forged for the god, Thor,
I am calm before I make a large storm.
My heart aches for you are endless, therefore,
I ask that you gaze at my wilted form.
My body asks that I get you back,
My heart will beat twice as fast for now.
If I do not get you back, I will yak,
Pain is excruciating, I yell “yow!”
My beard is much more like an unkept lawn,
My life is not the same with you now gone.

EDIT II: Made some more for my poetry deadline, totals up to 94 lines now when I only needed 80. Anyways, here it is:

Spring Tides

The flowers blooming,
The air so sweet and secure,
A sweet, fresh season.

Summer Break

The children abound,
The grass green, the sun shining,
The pool is filled.

Fall

The leaves wither, die,
They fall to oblivion,
They become crushed.

Hells' Agent

There was once a boy; Joe,
Nobody wanted as a foe,
He bound them in binds,
He blew out their minds,
They were going far down below.

(Please note that the last line isn't perverted, I know your mind was there; it was to mean they're going to Hell, hence the title Hells' Agent)

Might get in touch with my friend to tell him about this, don't have a copy of HCE though, so I'll not be able to play unless they have it Mac compatible. If it is Mac compatible, I will definitely be willing to install it if I can find one for free or try to get it sometime.

Yes, I've heard of it from one of my friends that graduated last year. He ranted on and on about how awesome it was. XD Tbh, I'm kinda curious to see all the custom content created for it as he talked about how there was a sort of samurai sword he found once that he could climb walls/ceilings with.

A little more poetry. Came up with these and finished today. Hope you enjoy.

Creepers

Green and explosive,
Mysterious and creepy,
Hissing and sizzling.

Laundry

People had a ball,
They all had awe.
They were about to fall,
Like they broke the law.
The stage was set,
The people panted like a dog.
They all took a bet,
Writing up on their blog.
They all hear “ding”,
They stand and cheer.
They entered the ring,
The screaming was sheer.
The boxers wrestled.
The rest settled.

Here's a little poetry I came up with today. Hopefully it might come in use for some of you guys in an English class or something. Please note that the sonnets DON'T follow the rules and most of the haiku's don't follow the traditional form, anyways. Here goes the poetry, the only thing I'm good at in the English Curriculum:

Forced Papers

Forcibly written,
Making students sad, upset,
Writing blank faces.

An Excuse

When writing a paper,
It is frowned upon.
It really is bitter,
When it was due anon.
Playing Donkey Kong,
People have fun.
Others played Pong,
They're all done.
The time has passed,
The family is glad.
It was half-assed,
The student is sad.
The paper is written,
The dog has bitten.

A Grand Piano

It was Ebony,
It always has Ivory,
The piano keys.

Magic Trick

It really is tragic,
The crowd in awe.
Might it be magic,
What they all saw.
The cops are abound,
There weren't any ducks.
Everyone went all around,
It was only bucks.
Filed missing were all,
The thing was black.
Only was a ball,
Guy was a quack.
The bank was robbed,
The bodies have bobbed.

The Passing of Time

A plum blossom fell,
The tree limbs creek for the time,
Fall has arrived.

Who?

A smooth blue box,
A witty, tall, mystery,
The doctor stands.

Banjo and Kazooie

A bear and bird fly,
Red bird, brown bear, blue back-pack,
Grunty is angry.

Stone Demons

Calm and collective,
Cold and motionless, they come,
The Weeping Angels.

Winter

White and fluffy,
Soft and cold to you,
The snow glistens now.

Important information about Half-Life 2 Roleplay:
This is a roleplay gamemode based in the Half-Life 2 universe.  Instead of playing Gordon Freeman, you are a citizen who is just trying to keep himself alive in this system that the Combine and the Benefactors have instated.  You can work your way up to become a Loyalist, and from there choose to join the Combine Civil Authority or the Civil Workers Union, or you can choose to integrate yourself into the resistance style of play and work to help the citizens.

Important information about Orange Cosmos Roleplay:
Orange Cosmos Roleplay is based in real life.  Amongst the things you can do are: set up shops, make friends, earn money by becoming government, get cars, and most importantly have fun.  Unlike Half-Life 2 Roleplay, in Orange Cosmos Roleplay you are able to become almost anything as there is nothing but what is legal and illegal to own in the game.  You can choose to be a businessman, a taxi driver, join a gang, etc.  The biggest thing is to have fun!

Garry's Mod Racer Rules

Important information about Garry's Mod Racer:
Garry's Mod Racer is an old (but still very fun) racing gamemode made by Hunts and developed by multiple people over the past few years.  In it, you race to gain money, upgrade your car, and (on some maps) go full out deathmatch style.  Newer players, while at a slight disadvantage, will easily make their way up the upgrade ladder with some quick thinking.

For more information, visit:
Garry's Mod Racer Boards - Most information you could want is in these boards.  If it isn't, ask!

Catalyst-Gaming also offers two other servers:
Harbor Roleplay
This roleplaying gamemode is based around a ocean/harbor style play.  You can choose to become criminal and smuggle shipments, or become coast guard and catch the criminals.  For more information, visit the forums for Harbor Roleplay.

Sandbox (Wire Build)
Our sandbox server is just what is needed to build what you need, and nothing more that causes general derp.  We have Wire, Builder STools, and a good map.  Join and start building.  See anything we could add?  Visit the forums for Sandbox.

Support & Help / Re: Another Problem | Dark Screen
« on: October 29, 2011, 10:07:07 AM »
The reason it's this way is simple as I have the same problem when trying to play HL2RP. OpenAura says "Fuck you" to Mac's and isn't very reliable to play on with a mac. You will need a Windows OS really to play HL2RP, all the other gamemodes are fine (note that Outlands is just another HL2RP server rebel based) with Mac. The only suggestion I can give is get another PC with a Windows OS, Bootcamp your Mac with a windows OS, or just don't play HL2RP at all since the only thing you could RP is a blind man.

You should most definitely make a tutorial on how to make that pyramid full of traps and stuff on MC; sure that is a bitch to make, but hell it is fucking amazing and I'd love to know how to do that.
