Jonathon Bill Reave's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: The Cyberrabbi

IC Character Name: Jonathon Bill Reave

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
My character wishes to join the CCA because throughout his life he has searched for a place of honor and dignity. Given that his life's story tossed him a curve-ball in regards to the American military, he has been disciplining himself and preparing for something he can admire. Though there is likely a bit of desperation in his motivation as well. Given how disenfranchised he felt watching the U.S. military, he was perhaps too eager to jump onto the next power.
One could also say that the pursuit of the "perfect authority" has been an obsession of Reave's. As such as he grew more and desperate in his idealism, he became more and more willing to overlook the flaws in an organization. This also caused him to quickly hate politics, feeling that politicians took advantage of a man's patriotism for their own gains infuriated Reave. Then the war, or as Reave might call it, the great "equalizer" happened.
Whenever the occupation occurred, Reave knew that a military that quickly overthrew the corruption couldn't be all bad. Much less one that so quickly enacted such carefully constructed ranking and divisions. In many ways, Reave had finally found his benevolent dictator. All he needed to know is where to sign.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
I would consider Jonathon to be intelligent and cunning, but primarily respectful to authority and the concepts of duty, honor, and order. He detests anyone that would disrespect that authority, and would destroy anyone that would hurt that order. Jonathon would train himself for physical perfection, and study all codes and knowledge of his job to become as perfect as possible. In other words, I designed him to be born to be a unit. Defends his comrades to the death, destroys anyone that would hurt them, and follows orders and law to the letter.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
Given that I am not in the CCA I can only go by what I've seen and what I hope for, but mainly at first it's going to be annoying and boring. I suspect I'll have a low amount of respect and trust, and most officers wouldn't trust me to wipe their ass. I also wouldn't care, as I would take the steps and train hard to be the best unit I could be, if only not to risk the lives of my fellow man. Not only this, but Jonathon would expect "grunt work", cleaning the barracks, shining shoes, that sort of thing. As such Jonathon welcomes the opportunity to show how dedicated he is, and hopefully quickly rise through the ranks and begin serving in a real fashion.
Other than that, I hope that the CCA is fluid and malleable, as I tend to notice, as others have, that the longer people stay in power, the more inactive or uncaring they get. Without checks and balances and a healthy dose of fear within a unit, people get lax. Thus Jonathon would figure that the UED making sure everyone falls in line would be a good thing, and would also think that he has nothing to fear from them. As such I feel Jonathon will excel and overcome any adversity he may face in the CCA.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
My character was born in the South, his father moving from military base to military base to keep up with where he was needed. Jon thus pursued excellence in his own way, quickly giving up on the concept of "friends" with civilians as it became obvious that they were "weak" compared to the ideals and sacrifice Jon saw in his father. Thus Jon was quick to dive headfirst into his studies and athletics, joining the ROTC in the hopes of one day becoming a soldier like his father, and make him proud. Unfortunately the military ideals and honor that Jon believe in was taken away one day...

When the Iraq war started, Jon's father was of course called to duty, and Jon wasn't even sad or afraid, realizing this is what his father had been training his whole life for. Unfortunately for his father, there was an error in a training mission his father was overseeing, as the recruit he was overseeing fired onto an encampment rather than scouting it. The recruit was killed quickly and Jon's father's leg was torn to hell. Although Jon's father eventually recovered, he was dishonorably discharged and his name stricken from the military records... Jon became disenfranchised with the military, wondering why such an organization built on honor would discard his father so callously. Jon thus abandoned thoughts of a military career, and studied hard in his own time on the arts of war, and exercised his body as much as he could bear.

Now as Jonathon gets moved from city to city, he’s the sort of citizen that goes up to officers at attention and saluting them, feeling that such brave men and women, risking their lives to protect people that distrust or even hate them, anonymously even, have given the bravest sacrifice daily and quietly. Thus he goes about shining shoes, cleaning windows, and whatever else he can do to prove his loyalty and support for such people.

5) Have you ever had a CCA character here at Catalyst Gaming?  If so, explain why it was removed.
I have not.

6. How old are you?
Twenty.

7. Whats your most memorable quality RP experience?
My most memorable RP experience was probably whenever I roleplayed a vortigaunt on an Outlands server on ShhRP. Basically I was with a group of rebels and while scavenging we discovered a trashed computer that could be repaired. I don't remember exactly how it was brought up, but the leader of the rebels said something like that the machine was a tool for our service. The Vortigaunt was offended and explained that all things, all matter, had energy within them, the Vortessence. I stated in my odd way that life is merely matter assembled, but at that core of it, there is motion in the atoms themselves. They move with purpose. They wish to bond and be complete like us. The energy of the world itself aches and moves with feeling. I asked them where they thought they got personifications of "Father Time" and "Mother Nature", and basically I believe I made some people actually think if whether the very Earth beneath them moved partially because it chose to. Even if it was uncanon, or oocly a load of religious hooey, I remember it as a time where I used a character to come up with ideas I never would have, and was forced to pause and consider those same ideas

8. Do you consider yourself a good listener?
I believe so yes.

Sir/Ma'am. To go into every detail of why I want to join the Combine Civil Authority would take more paper than this application allows, and would most likely bore you. I am a simple man. I believe in the tenets of honor and integrity, and the pursuit of peace and order at all costs. My duty as a man with the strength within my own two hands is to serve my fellow man and protect them from any harm that would ever come to them, even from themselves. The Civil Authority has single-handedly annihilated all war, most diseases, and that disgusting imbalance in class and status that was a pestilence upon this world. Seeing what the CCA has accomplished in so little a time is an inspiration and a blessing to my pitiful soul, and my only hope is that I can provide my body, mind, and heart, in the pursuit of protecting that which has saved this world.

I have a med authorized CWU worker that people have seen me RP with? Added an RP example anyways.

3
I don't oocly know it so I don't exactly understand how I'd display it icly. If you mean can I -rp- like I know it, I'm not sure how I'd prove that. A "canon back story" is different from a "example of roleplay"...regardless I guess I'll add that as well.

4
I reiterate, anymore detail is unrelated to the application but okay. I'll make it sound prettier : )

5
She was a plastic surgeon, thus she has history in plastic surgery. What details related to her background would help justify her having it otherwise O_o

Accepted Authorizations / Elizabeth Coont's Authorization Application

Steam Name: The Cyberrabbi
Age: 20
How long have you been Roleplaying? (can be any game): I believe seven or eight years
How long have you been playing Serious GMod RP?: Four to five years, on and off.

Character Section

Authorization(s):
Advanced medical training, some knife training (due to skill with scalpel), and the ability to do facial alterations to other people if given enough time, i.e. plastic surgery.

Name: Elizabeth Coont
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Affiliation: None

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
Elizabeth Coont was a problem child, always interested in books and animals more than socializing or making friends. This was perhaps due to her family constantly moving from job to job as her father tried to make ends meet. Though Elizabeth never directly blamed her father for her situation, she always felt cursed to live in a place of semi-poverty, never setting up healthy roots. In spite of this background, Elizabeth did well in school, finding fascination with the mechanics of biology and medicine. The first time she dissected a frog, she realized she wanted to use a scalpel for a living, doing surgery on people, the most interesting animal of all.

Unfortunately for Elizabeth, money for college did not come easily. The financial burdens her family suffered helped her achieve numerous scholarships, along with her grades, but she still had to work hard in the same dead end jobs her father partook in, to try and raise the money to rise up in the world. After some time she finally made it...at least one could argue that.

Perhaps the highlight of Elizabeth's life came when she finally attended classes. Though balancing the aspects of a full time job with a full time class load was an act of insanity, she never felt more in her element then at school. She especially liked the anatomy and physiology classes, finding out where bones lie, how they hook up, how the muscles and tendons bind together. She was especially fascinated with the number of muscles on the face, and how each one gave a minor, but necessary, addition to facial expressions and movement. In many ways though, through learning virology (not her favorite class) and seeing how easily humans are infected horribly, to just genetic biology which showed how easily humans can be cursed due to a scrambling of the genes, Elizabeth gained a sense of mortality and frailness to human life. In spite of this, whether it was through learning the proper amount of anesthesia to sedate a patient, and not kill them, or whether it was just fixing simple issues such as a dislocated shoulder, Elizabeth attempted to learn it all, absorbing the knowledge like a sponge.

Elizabeth Coont achieved her medical prowess slowly, finding it difficult that in spite of her talent, she barely had the money to afford classes for medical school at any point in her career, balancing a challenging work load with a full time job. She retained a slight bitterness as her richer compatriots paid, and even in some cases, bribed their way into better schools, and higher grades. Though Elizabeth didn't attend the most prestigious of medical schools, she believed she understood the value of money, and as such went into plastic surgery, finding it a necessary decision. In truth over time, the poor girl slowly lost her aspirations of helping people for the sake of taking advantage of her opportunities. This wasn't helped by the fact that through her various internships, she saw how easily the rich received care, and the poor were put on lists.
Though she was just as good at the boob job as the tummy tuck, Elizabeth primarily enjoyed, and flourished, at the art of the new face. Indeed, after some time, the mafia itself requested her skills to change the identities of some of their bosses on the run. Given that Elizabeth had no particular loyalty to the society that made her struggle for every step she took, she accepted, keeping some of the worst scum in society on the streets. At this point she no longer cared about the petty morality invented by those that use it to enslave others. Sure, she wasn't a Robin Hood, but at least the people she helped didn't make pretensions of being good people.

Unfortunately, all her ill-gotten gains was quickly taken away when the war came. Though Elizabeth's riches quickly became meaningless, she still hoped, naively, that the invaders would be the great equalizer. However she quickly realized that society had traded one bourgeois for another...and she was eager to take advantage of this new world again.

RP example:

Elizabeth Coont's gently snips and snags the pieces of flesh, pulling wrinkles tighter, making new wrinkles elsewhere. What people fail to realize is the key to changing an identity is to NOT make the person beautiful...beauty is suspicious...easy to tell. No, for the least suspicion you make them look flawed. Moles...wrinkles...little hairs....anything that seems like no one would want to keep. Sure you can make some things prettier...trim the fat....but in the real world of criminals, you take what keeps you unseen.

She disinfects the cuts she makes, using hydrogen peroxide to sizzle and bubble. Using biodegradable stitching she covers the wounds gently, making sure to make tiny stitches so as to prevent scarring...except for the parts where the scarring was intentional. She sighs to herself, remembering how simple regular surgeries are. Just open them up, disinfect liberally, and keep a steady hand.... It was amazing how many drama queens there were in medical school.

"All done Mr. Fazoli," she says, bandaging him up.
"You'll be sore for a few weeks...and I'd try and speak with a deeper voice."
"Gratsi mi bella....You are a life saver." Said the man drowsily, his face wrapped like a mummy.
"Just keep my wallet full and you can use me anytime," she said giving a greedy smile. Hey, it's a living.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
Medical training, given the medical school education a plastic surgeon would have to obtain, would allow Elizabeth to be very helpful in treating wounds that others might not otherwise be able to treat, such as gunshots, stab wounds, that sort of thing. Plastic surgery abilities would allow, if given enough time, her to change her allies' identity and thus protect them, should she choose to invest her time in such a manner.

Also, given that "name and CID" are typically the only things asked by the CCA, it would allow people who were on the run access to precinct 1 again, as long as their name's weren't recorded of course. Thus presumably she would be a valuable recruit for resistance organizations or others.

Defects
As far as I can tell, none really.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
As of right now, not really "resist" but perhaps help those that do in precinct 3. Likely until she gains trust from some sort of organization, she'll just provide medical help for the downtrodden, and perhaps use her defensive knife skills to defend those that would otherwise be defenseless (such as Loyalists going into Precinct 3).

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
No.

Which server does this apply for?
Both

Extra Notes (optional):
I say both because given her circumstances, she may go to the outlands.

Shoot...sorry...I just saw this and I had like three meetings today. A good idea I suppose and I'll be sure to start adding it in. Do you want us to make a new post each time? (as in all the meetings of the day) Or just keep adding to our original post, and just put the date in which it occurred?

The only way you'll feel better is if you stop giving a shit about what people think of you. You aren't going to wake up one day and suddenly not care - it'll take time. If people give you shit, give them shit back. If you let people push you around and give you shit for everything they're never going to stop. Don't try to fit in. Be yourself, if you try and fit in your entire life you're going to be miserable. I would stay away from medication, you really don't need it regardless of what doctors tell you. I've been through the same shit, and it took time but now I'm happy as I've ever been.

With all due respect clinical depression is a real condition, as is bipolarism or numerous other things people may be struggling with. I would agree that trying to have a positive outlook is a good idea, but don't claim that you somehow know what he needs better than what he himself, or his doctor would : /. I've had people...well...hurt themselves basically, because they refused to get the medication they needed, and it really helped them.

I reiterate it shouldn't be your first port of call, but it shouldn't be unheard of.

Guys depression is different from sadness.... If he randomly gets depressed often, then probably it's a medical condition. Literally a chemical imbalance in the brain.

Obviously this is all good advice man, but also advice you've heard before. Likely you should talk to your doctor. I myself have clinical depression, and having my medication really made all the difference. It doesn't make you a zombie, doesn't make you stupid or manic, all it does is make your base state from "Depressed" to...well....normal.

It may NOT be that, but if nothing else works it's probably that.

I "play them" i.e. accuse them of sexually harassing me, use request radio, they get beaten, they learn to leave her alone. Regardless you are right that apparently people aren't taking this the way I was intending.

................also just figured out I can lock my own topic. Sorry.
