General Discussion / Heavy Plays Amnesia
« on: September 29, 2012, 04:57:18 AM »
Hey there guys!

I've been recently developing my latest machinima channel a bit, and have added two videos.

Take a look and give me your thoughts, and please constructively criticize where you think I haven't done so well. I understand my aspect ratio was bad in the first video, but that's because I couldn't install Sony Vegas due to my computer being shite. Now I've installed it, the aspect ratios will be better.

General Discussion / Looking For Reviewers
« on: May 28, 2012, 03:56:43 AM »
Title says it all.
On my Garry's Mod Server Reviewing Channel, I've figured that a video a week is too little for the content that is currently in it. So this is why I'm holding 'applications' for people to join me in reviewing servers to push more out per week.

If you want to get involved then leave a message here or add me on steam, where I'll probably talk to you over CG's Ventrilo or a Teamspeak server to see you capabilities. I may even have some on Skype.

I'll probably give you a format of a server, then you'd have to extend it into a review. If you get it, you'll join me and review a random server each week. Hope you're interested :)

Channel is in my signature for those of you who don't know what I do.

General Discussion / GMod RPG Development
« on: May 18, 2012, 12:49:45 PM »
My friend and I are developing an RPG with the intention of making it an MMO for Garry's Mod for some general entertainment, but we can't do it alone.
Here are the words from Garry, the guy who's idea this was.

Quote
Dear Readers,

As you may of heard I have the intention of building an RPG within the platform of Garry's Mod.
I have a few idea's jumbled around in my head, mainly the setting and landscape, but I need your help! I am looking for some willing developers to assist me with the creation of this MMO which is yet to be named, myself and one other have already begun work on the concept and things we would like to include. If you would like to help, please don't hesitate to contact me as I will need all the help I can receive.
Ideally I require; Environment Artists, Texture Artists, Modelers, Story developers/writers, programmers & finally people with imagination and ambition.

The more help you give the better the idea and possibly the outcome will be.

Regards,

Garry Preston

Suggestions / Text Roleplay
« on: May 09, 2012, 05:03:32 AM »
TEXT ROLEPLAY

What is it?
Welcome to the large, limitless and magical world of TextRP where only your imagination is the limit of what you can do. Ever wanted to pretend to be a soldier during the Napoleonic wars? Or a sailor in the days of the British empire? You can be and do anything here without the need for programming skills.

How does it work?
Anything can be thought of, as text is where it happens! However, there are certain types of text that seperate areas such as OOC and IC.

Whenever performing an action always write it in italics. E.g "The ninja jumped onto the wall and ran along it, seemingly defying gravity."

If you wish to explain an event or environment then write in bold. E.g The park was filled with shouting children all running around and playing games.

Dialogue must always be inside two " and in italics at all times! E.g "Where are we going?"

If you want to say something in OOC, or Out Of Character, put the text within two round brackets. E.g. ((This is out of character.))

What Kinds of Text Roleplay Are There?

The most common types of Text Roleplay I have seen are:
Skyrim
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Warhammer 40K
Starship Battles(Something in itself)

However, it is imagination that drives them!

Here is an example of Text Roleplay from my previous community!
Warning! There's a lot of text!

Spoiler for Hiden:
Skyrim Roleplay
If you came here from searching on google you're welcome to join in by simply making an account.

Basic info:

In a cold region in Tamriel.. named Skyrim, you can make a character based of the Elder-scrolls lore.

A humanoid, Dragon, A monster.. you decide.

You can start of anywhere within the borders of Skyrim.

The timeline is starting when the Dragonborn (Dovahkiin) crosses the border to Skyrim, 200 Years after the Oblivion crisis. Don't make characters from Elderscrolls IV: Oblivion.

There can be multiple dragon-borns involved. You decide if you want to be one, or not.

This is multiplayer, so Skyrim in this thread, is not the Skyrim in the game. <- We know there isn't an orc or an argonian in the beginning of the game, in the wagon on its way to helgen.. But in this version of Skyrim, there was.

The story of this game will progress as it does in the video-game, but we will have to tweek the story here and there to make it multi-player. Just go with the flow, and we'll see how this turns out.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________

Below, the format will be found. If you are uncertain of any of the races or something like that, use the elderscrolls wiki.
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Races_(Skyrim)

Un-serious formats will be ignored.

(It would be great if you could remove the examples and explanations followed by the formats when you make your character.)

Format:

Player or Mob: (This if you just wanna take a small part as a mob fighting the players.)
Name or nickname: (Your characters name, depending on your race.)
Race: (Races found within the elderscrolls universe.)
Gender: (Male or Female)
Physical Description: (What you look like at first eye-sight.)
Equipment: (Your starting gear, don't overpower your character.)
Home-region: (Where your character was born.)
Short Backstory: (You don't need to add too much here, make it interesting to talk to you IC.)
Starting location: (Where you first take control of your character.)
Main skills: (Example: Small weapons, restoration. You don't need to sum up every skill. Just the ones that you mainly use.
Any other information?:

I don't think we need more than this. ^ Feel free to add something if you want.

Although I'm the founder of the Skyrim text-RP, You don't need acceptance from me anymore. I don't think its needed, and i trust the ones that even bother. If you somehow managed to decide to troll the thread.. Well, consider yourself warned.

If you suck when it comes to making a character.. I will probably tell you to fix it.

General rules regarding IN character. (IC)

All mobs are controlled by players.. Don't constantly rely on others to fight against you, although taking control of NPC's and mobs are greatly encouraged.

When you fight by yourself, you take control of the mob/mobs.

If you fight in a group with other players, you should discuss who controls the mobs or take the role as the group of mobs as you fight.

The roleplay doesn't have an official "Dungeonmaster".

Until further notice, you will have the upper hand in fights with Mobs and NPC's. depending on your equipment and skill. If you start without weapons, find one and learn how to use it. If you somehow manage to face a dragon, you're most likely to be dead if you're alone.

FIGHTS DEPEND UPON THE PROBABILITY OF THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS TO OCCUR. <- You can't kill a powerful dragon alone.

When you roleplay, don't expect others to constantly control NPC's that are talking around you. I personally enjoy it, but I'm not available all the time, so if you want.. You can always progress the story yourself by making something happen.

You can allways make a new character if you die, or been imprisoned or something like that. Make sure you just have maximum 2 characters at the time.

If you've been inactive for a day or two.. Read what has happened and try to explain what happened to you while active members have progressed the story further from the point that you were active. If you KNOW that you're going to be inactive for a couple of days.. Please state so, and kill off your character or do something to make him/her vanish from the other players. It's ok if he's already somewhere else or something like that.

Example: *Johan walks out of the Inn explaining he just have to do something real quick.* ( I HAVE TO GO OOC FOR A FEW DAYS)

^ You can then join in later by suddenly appearing stating something like this:

*Johan suddenly walks into the dungeon behind them, panting.. "I've been looking all over for you guys!"

You can always make a new character, but make sure to kill off your current character first.

When you fight another player or mob or something like that, prepare to get owned. Accept death if players clearly have a advantage against you..you can always make a new character.

A mage would have an advantage if he's far from his enemy. If you're a mage and close to an enemy with a giant fucking axe, you're probably dead.

If a heavy armored melee-character is close too an archer, the archer stands no chance if he hasn't changed weapon or ran away.

Use common sence in what would have happened. Don't argue each other too much.

?If you're insecure in how stuff works.. Read some history in the thread below, do what players have done.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________

Other information:

Out of character text must be surrounded by ( ) Example: ( Herro! )

Feel free to join in on any time, it's not stated that you have to join in from the start. You could simply pop in anytime!

Here is a small link if you're stuck naming your character: http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=modding_data/ngen

- Any suggestions? Feel free to share anything Out of character (Ooc)

- It would be cool if someone would take the role as some mobs now and then. Anyone interested?
__________________________________________________ _______
Important changes:
- State your spells if you're a mage. You can't just make up spells in a fight in order for yourself to win. .-although, this is not about winning.
- No more than two characters.
- If you're going to be Inactive, please state it and try to make your character dissapear by either killing .-him or making him do something.. ?
- Control your own fights against enemies not controlled by players.

What has happened?:

27th of February: The players have been through Helgen, and Alduin has just left. One of the players died in the process, and some of the players are gathering up outside the walls and some are on its way to Riverwood.

After all that writing (Phew!) I'm sure you can read a bit more!
I would like to put myself forward, if this is created, as Forum Moderator for this part of the forum. This would help me keep everything organised, and filter out anything that is irrelevant to the roleplay
.

If you like this idea, please show your support below and help make this a reality!

<::|| These past few weeks that I have been a City Administrator have been thrilling. I never would've seen myself in such a position back in university. From studying Politics, I would never have thought that I would be writing the speeches I'd also be giving. Last week a citizen came to me to ask to be my assistant, I willingly accepted as he was taken in for brainwashing. I guess it's to ensure nobody tries to harm me in the process of assisting me. He didn't look like the best of men after the procedure, but since his recovery he has been a bigger help than any of my previous associates. He proof-reads my work, ensuring everything is perfect. I owe him my work, and commend him for his hard work the past week. Not only this, but he has become a very pleasant colleague to talk to whilst my other associates are away on assignments throughout the city. The city has also seen some improvements recently, including the screen on the Nexus getting an upgrade to make it clearer. I also hear of possible broadcast to TV's in peoples apartments which would ensure that everyone can hear my talk.
It has also come to my attention that the amount of crime in the city has decreased substantially since the beginning of my speeches, which makes me happy to do my duty. The food is now imported thanks to the CWU, which my Colleague went to visit to congratulate. Their food is top notch, compared to the basic food that Civil Protection or Citizens get. Having a cup of tea during a meeting can really help me focus on what to say. It also reminds me of England, cups of tea were drank more than plain water. Although it will never be home, this is more than I could've hoped for.
I plan to make another log in a few weeks to report on what has happened. I also plan to increase the amount of logs I make to one a week to keep myself up to date with recent events as to implement them into my speeches if the city is improving or dislodging. ||::>

Thomas Peterson's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: Rictalspace

IC Character Name: Thomas Peterson

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
My character has been a perfectionist since he was a teenager. He believes that for something to be done right, it must be done perfectly. This is what got him through his school years well, and allowed him to have a healthy life as he became much more involved in sports. He would often strive for first every time as he aimed for perfection throughout his school life. His grades saw high marks every time as he revised night and day to become the best he could be. This reflects his city life as he aims to be perfect in all his actions, to impress those who guide him and watch him.

This increase in sports lead Thomas to become more confident in his doings, which helping him in his adult life. In his city life, he attempted to make everything perfect to impress the Civil Protection. For example, he would clear out his apartment to make sure every spec was clean to ensure that his superiors were impressed with him. This is what led Thomas to envy the men and women working for Civil Protection, and in turn which led him to want to join them. He would watch them as they would hand out loyalist points to those who deserved them, and the confidence they had in carrying out their duties.

Since attempting to get the required loyalist points, Thomas has wanted to join the ranks of the CCA. From the actions he noticed they do, the patrolling, the clamping, the ration distribution, they all inspired Thomas to do better. From this he was certain that he was going to try and get into the CCA. He believed that they are there for the better good, and Thomas believes that he has what it takes to join the CCA and prove himself to his superiors with his constant strive for perfection.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
Trustworthy, hard-working, motivated, strives for perfection, intelligent.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
For me, I expect the CCA to be a challenge for me at first as I gather all the knowledge I can to try and understand everything about the CCA and its actions. This will be difficult as there is a lot to learn whilst being a recruit as you carry out your superiors orders. However, I do believe the roleplaying side of this will be fun and interesting as it is a newer way of roleplaying for me on Catalyst-gaming. I have the roleplaying skills to carry out roleplay well, but I will need to learn the knowledge that is specific to CG's HL2RP. So the knowledge side of the CCA will be difficult at first as I start out at recruit, but as I hopefully move up the ranks I will further understand my position in the CCA and how I can carry out my day to day actions. However, the roleplay side of the CCA will be easy as long as I am able to understand the knowledge of the CCA to accompany the roleplay I carry out as a unit.

My character will find the CCA much alike how I will find learning the specific rules of CG's CCA. Thomas will find it difficult to learn the new ways his life will need to adapt to. Change is hard to adapt to when it happens quickly, but Thomas will soon understand how to be a unit for the CCA in time. He will find it difficult to become a recruit as he will have to learn many codes and procedures to carry out in his day to day actions. Slowly as he begins to climb the ranks, his training will start to settle in and he will understand what it is to be a unit of the CCA. It will become easier for him to understand what to do each day as he learns and trains more. The actions he takes will push his limits as he tries to be the best unit he can be and strive for perfection.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Early Life:
Thomas was a fufilling student, always aiming for perfection in his lower years. He attempted to strive for the highest marks he could achieve. He could see himself in the future as a large part of his country. Growing up in a deprived area of England, he felt that he could make a difference to the area he lived in. He wanted to be a part of the Government and to help those who needed it. His constant strive for perfection led to him helping around his home a lot. His parents, without jobs, were desperately trying to help Thomas in anyway they could as to not let him fall down into the life that they were currently living. Thomas felt like he could make a difference to his home and his deprived town. People were scavenging for food anywhere they could, some even resorted to stealing. Although Thomas was only in his early years, and still going to school, he would help in any way that he could by working at a nearby shop to earn them the slightest bit of money. Thomas' efforts put enough food on the table to survive. This led on for several years, to when Thomas entered Secondary school.

Although he was earning money, soon it would not be enough as his parents had another child. Thomas now had a little sister to look after, which made it even harder for him. Thankfully his father found a job in a factory as a worker, which he used alongside Thomas' small job to put better food on the table. This left his mother to look after his new baby sister, who he was not overly fond of. Several years would pass where we wondered where they could've been if his sister had not been born, was she holding them back money-wise?

Adult-Life:
Thomas continued working to get as much money for his family in as possible, until he finished his secondary school life. Continually striving for perfection, Thomas had built up a powerful concentration state where he would be able to concentrate on a subject for long periods of time without distraction. He had left sixth form with three A's and a B. His next goal was to get into university, but his family life kept him back as he had to supply them with food. He soon got a higher job working in an estate agents which gave his family a livable salary. Although his adult life was short lived as it was not long until portal storms began to strike in 2004 near his household. His family was in danger from attack by ferocious creatures which would kill anyone on sight. As time passed on, he could not protect his family enough. They were soon evacuated into the heart of London where barricade walls were set up several years later to protect people. And soon enough, Thomas and his family were back to square one, a slowly growing poverty stricken area which too little food to live on. Protection was limited as his family came under threat several times.

City-Life:
It wasn't long before the seven hour war took place, Thomas was in the middle of London during the event. Hiding out in apartments as he attempted to look for food and work, he quickly lost his family in the heat of the battle. He and a few others escaped london through the long maze of sewers which led out of the city. As he was seperated from his family, Thomas was forced out of the city for his own safety. He was holed up in a house in the countryside with several others from the apartment building he previously left. He was stuck out in the misty countryside, again scavenging for food. Thomas didn't know if he were to die in this building or to live on, but he kept his faith in the latter choice.

It was one misty afternoon, that a helicopter noise went overhead. A member of Thomas' group ran outside yelling for help, until he released it wasn't a normal helicopter. Thomas attempted to run down and pull the man back in, but tripped on his way down the stairs, hitting his head on the base of the stairs and losing conciousness. When he awoke, he was on a train on his way to City 45. This new world that was layed out before him was unknown to Thomas. He was unsure of what to do, so he adapted to his new life. Until he noticed the Civil Protection, the authority they had over others. Thomas had his mind set on what he wanted to accomplish, and so set his goal on becoming a Civil Protection unit.

5) Have you ever had a CCA character here at Catalyst Gaming? If so, explain why it was removed.
No, I have not had a CCA on CG before.

OOC Details

1. How long have you played on role-playing servers in general?
In general I have been playing on Roleplay for a good few years when I used to play Dark RP.

2. How long have you played on serious servers?
Serious being gamemodes like HL2RP, then around two years exactly when OA came out and was known as 'Prototype'. I was roleplaying seriously a few months before that too before the run up to the Prototype release.

3. How long have you played on Catalyst Gaming?
I have played on CG since late August and have been active ever since.

4. What Time zone are you in?
GMT (London time.)

5. In what country do you live?
England

6. How old are you?
17

7. What’s your most memorable quality RP experience?
The most memorable RP experience I have had is back in my old community when Prototype was first released. As we reached Blueprint version, I ran the server and was the Sectoral Commander for the city, which in many cases I planned events for citizens and CCA.
The best event was when we planned a large scale attack on the city when the power to the Nexus was lost partially, causing thumpers outside the city to fail. This caused antlions to move into the city as we had a population of 50 as Resistance groups banded together to attack the CCA during this time of crisis. I was part of a resistance group to take the plaza, which succeeded at first until we were pushed back out of the city by OW. Throughout that time we Pain RP'ed, Fear RP'ed and generally roleplayed throughout. The event lasted for hours which made it the most memorable event I have been in. Sniping Hazard (Who was in this community) will remember his event himself.

8. Do you consider yourself a good listener?
Yes, I can listen to whatever I am told.

// This is a story I'll be developing from time to time since I just wanted to. I'll probably include music with it sometimes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agp6_IqNVLw

The Day Before Darkness
It was a cold, misty afternoon in Denmark where Thomas stood. Mist covered many parts of the area around the infrastructure that Thomas had come to call 'home' over the past few days. His life, his future, his loved ones, all gone in a matter of hours. There was nothing but the dull, endless mist in all directions, Thomas' life had almost ceased to exist. A door behind him opened, as a young girl known as Lucy stepped out of the building. At a considerable young age compared to Thomas, Lucy had brown hair with a smooth texture of a face. Thomas didn't know her real age as she never disclosed it with the group, all he could guess was she was below the drinking age. He could only guess that she was a teenager filled with hopes and dreams of her future, all relentlessly crushed in front of her large blue eyes. Thomas had only known Lucy for a few days, but in this place it may have well been years. With little to do, all there was to do was to get to know each other. Quiet and observative, Lucy was a smaller voice of the group. Usually keeping out of decisions made by the group to relocate or to gather supplies. She stood next to him, and stared into the abyss of grey. Thomas extended an arm, reaching for her opposite shoulder. He grasped her shoulder, almost as in a protecting manner. All Thomas could do was feel sorry for her, her entire future had crumbled before her eyes. Her history, although short, was a fufilling one where she was studying for her exams. She would not state which, as they would give away her age but Thomas knew she was bright. He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small piece of chocolate he'd been saving like a squirrel saving nuts over winter. He handed the piece to her where she extended her arm, and began to feast on the little amount of sustenance.

Thomas' life had not been an easy one, no job, decreasing amounts of money, a sick wife and a world against him. This new life he was living seemed the slightest bit better than the predecessor, where he was not the only one suffering. He could still remember the last day he'd seen his wife, laying in a hospital bed under intensive care. Not only was she sick, but was also in a coma where the doctors did not expect her to wake. He was faced with the daunting choice of whether to pull the plug, or to sit and wait. He could not tell if she was suffering, or was perfectly content. It was on his way to his parents house further away in the countryside, did the catastrophy that stranded him here occur. He knew it was too late for her and with nothing to turn back to, he remained in the countryside. It was over a period of a few days where more survivors from a nearby village moved to this structure, looking for food and shelter.

Both Thomas and Lucy turned back inside, to the group of 'refugees' that huddled together for warmth. The cold was ruthless with no heating remaining in the household, there was no warmth but the comfort of each other. Supplies were running low, and the group were getting smaller. With accidents happening almost every time they left the house to gather supplies from a nearby village, it was more of a death-run than a supply-run. Creatures, that were the portrayal of children's nightmares, lingered the streets looking for their next attack. Thomas didn't know how many more times he could risk their lives without losing them all.

It was a mere few more days, when the supplies had dropped to near zero and two of the six members of the group fell sick from the cold, that Thomas and the group were 'found'. It almost happened like a dream, as if it never happened. A large creature followed them home one trip, and had the power to smash through the front door. As it attacked a nearby group member, Thomas quickly ushered the others to run upstairs. The look of horror on the face of Thomas could've turned water to ice. As he, Lucy and the three other members ran upstairs, the distinct noise of rotors could be heard. Thomas opened a wooden curtain to look outside, as a floating object stared into his eyes. He slammed the curtains shut, still oblivious to what it was. He gathered the group in a corner, as firing could be heard downstairs. He ran to the wooden door, opened the golden coloured knob and swung it open. He practically jumped the length of the stairs, onto an unsteady wooden step. It broke under the tremendous pressure of Thomas as he was thrown forward where he hit his forehead on the wall opposite. He attempted to look around but all was a blur as the door near him was kicked open as his vision faded from him. All he could hear was the distinct scream of a girls voice, Lucy. Thomas, almost knocked out, attempted to open his heavy eyes but could not. His senses failed him as darkness overcame his vision.

Yeah, the new MMO by Bioware (Creators of Knights of the Old Republic, possibly one of my best games.) and Lucasarts (If you don't know who these guys are, you shouldn't know what Star Wars is.). I'm planning to get it on it's UK release of 22nd of December, but by pre-ordering it, I get an early game access code to start early with a level cap until the game is released. This is to ease people into the game so that the servers aren't overwhelmed on the first day.
At the price of £30 for the normal edition, you get the game and a free months subscription. The subscriptions after that are exactly like WoW's.
Now I know what your going to say, WoW is for nerds. I agree.
However, I've always been a Star Wars fan at heart since I was a toddler, and I've found that the time period around KOTOR has been the most enjoyable. Give me your thoughts on if your going to buy it.
Here's a great Cinematic Intro trailer for it:

Civil Workers Union / Note to all Tier 3's
« on: October 18, 2011, 11:04:13 AM »
Congratulations on joining the CWU. There are a few basics I'd like to share here if you don't already know.
If you're interested in a certain division, specializing in that division is probably your best route. For example, Business you should keep shops open for long periods of time and show that you have read the Guide. You should also open a Civil Relations Centre in which you answer Citizens questions and hand out free request devices/fliers on CWU recruitment.
However, medical wise, try and spend some time with current Medical members in the clinic or get into it yourself.
If your worried about promotions, don't worry. Show us that your active enough on your CWU to be promoted and that you also have the skills necessary to join a certain division.
Business Leader - John Bourne (Me)
Medical Leader - Organizers until a new leader is found (Monkey with a Gun/Adam S)

Hope this clears your questions.

Guides / Fear RP Towards the CCA
« on: October 11, 2011, 03:01:47 AM »
Now I know that Don Captain made one of these earlier, but there were tons of disagreements about it throughout the thread. This is what I believe people should be doing, from looking at those disagreement posts.

The confrontations are split into two categories:
 • Distant - Across the street or on the other side of the road.
 • Close - Within talking distance.

Distant Confrontation:
RCT-02: These look like your run of the mill CCA, however you always notice the stunstick in their hand. Since Recruits are new to the force, they would be eager to hold it out in front of you to attempt to scare you. This means that you should have a fear of a beating if you were to do anything wrong. From far away, they don't look like much of a threat, but knowing that if you do something wrong, making them run at you, should inject fear into your actions. So be cautious of your actions, but know that no immediate threat may occur due to the distance. This of course changes if the higher ranks have any ranged firearms. They should be using their stunsticks first, but any line of sight whilst your running could mean a bullet to the legs, so this should cause you to fear if you notice a firearm on their backs or in their hands. It should deliver more fear than a stunstick would, due to the pain and possible death led from it.

01: Now to many new players, these are the CCA in skirts, meaning that less Fear RP is usually caused. However, to enforce this, they have large shotguns. Now you may or may not know that shotguns at long range are not as big of a deal as a side-arm, but the authority they may have in a division means that they can get several other units to chase you. Although this is not always the case, more units would listen to an 01 than a RCT. So say an RCT were chasing you, units in a line of sight would probably join the chase, but if an 01 were to chase you. He would probably be able to get a radio call in, causing units to follow to the location you were last at, meaning less chance of escape. This means that the fear you see from them should be higher than for RCT-02. The difference in their armor also states that there is a different look about them, they look higher than the other generic looking units in the uniform they recieve from RCT-02. Meaning that you may or may not understand their capabilities, so be weary of their actions and be cautious when in a direct line of sight to them.

EpU-OfC: These units are the next step up in the CCA. OfC is part of High Command, meaning that fear towards him should be higher. They command the divisions, meaning that they have a wide range of communication abilities. From a far, they can order units to do much more than 01's. Fear towards them should from this distance would be more of a keep your distance from them. You don't want to get on their bad side, meaning you don't want to give them any reasons for beating you. Staying further away from these units whilst they are not noticing you is your best option. You are afraid that if your too close, they will find something your doing wrong and cause you trouble. Not to mention their ability to order their entire division to detain you, beat you or even amputate you. Their authority is what scares you that keeps you away. They range from their weapon choices, but either way, staying away is the most ideal option for your character.

DvL: These are the top dogs for the divisions. They can command an entire division, which is quite a lot of units. They are also the most stern towards citizens, meaning that they don't enjoy talking to you or perhaps not even seeing you. Distant confrontations are the best when it comes to DvLs. Usually they are patrolling in a group, or can make other units patrol in a group. Steering clear of even their view is what your character should be doing when it comes to noticing them. Not only their weapons but their strength can be devastating. It's like looking at a 7 foot bulky man whilst you are only a 5 foot weak man. They can order your amputation if they wish so, crossing paths is not advised. The authority they hold for their division is what implements the fear into you.

SeC/CmD: The SeC and the CmD are the top CCA in the entire sector of the city. Even looking at their cold looking masks injects fear directly to your heart. They are known for their nearly humanless bodies, as many have robotic augmentations. They aren't even looked at as human anymore. They are beyond what you can imagine a CCA of being. They usually patrol in groups of heavily armed CCA, meaning looking at them could get you killed. They have the say in anything they wish when it comes to punishment, if they wish that you should be killed for staring, then they will order it. Fearing these is an understatement. Any character, brave or not, should be scared of these units. Any humanity left in them has been washed away at this stage, they show no mercy, and will not help in any way. If you see one walking towards your location, head inside or walk the opposite direction. You don't want to be near these units.

Close Confrontation:
RCT-02: These are the more sociable class of CCA, asking them questions won't get you a beating. But it may get you a "Move along!". However, that does not mean that you can ask questions to your hearts content. Your still worried that something may happen whilst in conversation with them. Stutter a little bit, or be thoughtful when speaking to make it seem as though your trying to say the right things so that a beating is not on its way. Don't ignore them completely, but when it comes to speech with them, don't be scared to ask a question or two. When it comes to punishments, you know that it will be painful, but you can still be assured that it will be less painful than sterner, higher ranking units. Obviously when it comes to any punishment, you don't want it to happen. But at least you know that the pain will be lesser than higher ranking units.

01: Although these units may seem like less authorative due to their dress-looking attire, they aren't afraid to inflict punishment on you. Their large shotguns mean that confrontation at close range with these units can be deadly at best. Although not all 01's use their shotguns, you know that they won't take anti-citizens lightly. Regardless of your punishment, you know that these units will deliver such a punishment as to not make you do it again. Again with these units, you can be slightly afraid of saying the wrong thing when in conversation, but don't make it so that you can't speak to them at all. Speech with them won't get you a beating, but you'll sure as hell want to make sure that you say the right thing. When it comes to them speaking to you, you will really want to think about the right words, so stutter a bit, or use /me extensively on your actions that make you look as though you are thinking.

EpU-OfC: Close confrontations with these units isn't advised. Punishments delivered by these guys will have a story to tell. They will leave a mark on you as to make sure that you don't even contemplate thinking about doing what you did wrong. When it comes to conversation, you should try to find a lower ranking unit if it's a simple question. However, if its an application interview be sure to look worried whilst speaking to them. Make your character keep eying his firearms or his hands for any movements. You want to be aware if these units are thinking about delivering a beating or a punishment. Not only should you stutter when speaking to them, but you should include /me to look at any possibilities that they may use to hurt you, as to make sure you do nothing wrong.

DvL: Usually, if your using Fear RP right, you shouldn't go up to these units to speak to them. You know that these units are extremely tough in their punishment deliverances and have a zero tolerance for anti-citizen activity. You know of their authority throughout their entire division, meaning if you irritate them, you know he's not going to be the only one who's going to be delivering the punishment. His strictness that you might notice injects fear into you, you know that if you do one action wrong, then you might not live to see the next day. This is only a paranoid thought, but you can't help but think it. Due to this Paranoid thought, your fear when being spoken to by them should be seen by everyone around you. Never stand within an arms reach of them, as it is possible for them to reach you and possibly hurt you. They may or may not even hurt you, but you want to make sure. When being spoken to, try to edge yourself back, and make sure he is speaking to you and nobody else. For example, "Are you speaking, to-... me, sir?"
With that, include several /me's of your weary actions.

SeC/CmD: Crossing paths with these units is a death warrant. You know that they have the capabilities to kill you if they see fit, steering clear of these guys on the street is a necessity. You don't even want to look at them, but you want to be aware of where they are, as to stay far away from them. If spoken to by one, you must be dead scared. Your head runs through different thoughts of "Am I in trouble? What did I do?"
These paranoid thoughts are what causes the fear to run through you, as why would such a high CCA unit be speaking to you? Stepping in their patrol route, or inspection route, could cause large problems for you. If their doing something somewhere, you know that you don't want to be near it. If you cannot help it, such as in a sector inspection, then keep your eyes away from them, but be sure to listen to anything they may have to say as to not get in trouble for not understanding. But you should always be weary of their presence and what they are doing, as to make sure your not doing anything wrong that they may find as a reason to hurt you.

If you have any suggestions to add, please post. If you have any Criticism towards this, please post constructive ones rather than "Oh you don't know what your talking about, why post this."

Civil Workers Union / Suggestion
« on: October 11, 2011, 02:47:23 AM »
Basically, since the CWU seems to be undergoing some great changes, I thought we should expand to find more RP.
I thought that maybe the CWU could run the housing apartments? Such as keeping them clean, removing doors that are owned by offline players (So new people don't think "Oh, owned, moving on." Since they don't know they can press F2 on the doors if the player is offline).

I thought this would introduce a large amount of roleplay to the CWU as we now are including Civil Relations with it, we could set up the Civil Relations desk inside one of the CCH's.

We could also (If people wanted) Roleplay handing people keys to rooms, and be involved in housing allocations (If there were to be any)

Give me your thoughts, don't just post "No, bad idea." Post why it's a good or bad idea.

IC Chat / Business Commanders Log

File: Report
Time: 14:42
Enclosed:
The transfer to City 11 was a success. We managed to move all of our stock over to the new warehouse successfully and had zero damages. This thanks can only go to the Universal Union who managed to get it done, back in the old days you'd expect at least three breakages with two of those being 'misplaced' by the workmen. Our new headquarters has been opened and I must say, in contrast to the old HQ, it seems to have a nicer look to it than its predecessor. I feel like the working conditions are much tighter than they used to be, allowing efficiency to increase. The number of stores in the main street is also far better than City 18. Just yesterday I invested in a store for five-hundred tokens and we are receiving a commission as a result. They have almost reached the money invested and we shall soon see a profit.

In other events, our co-organiser Ted Simmons opened a noodle store, allowing other to franchise it. This business strategy is a key one in bringing the profits in. Soon I hope to invest our profits on advertising our new stores and employment, that way we will only expand. We must be weary with this new city, expanding too quickly may cause us to fall short on our expectations. The members of my division seem to be doing a fine job in their stores, bringing in profits all around. The move has caused many citizens to buy more of our stock. Food sales have seen an increase by 14% compared to the last week in City 18. Our general goods have remained steady, however, as their profits continue to flow in.

I hope to soon create another advertising campaign to bring in new employees and more customers, signs will soon be seen around the street. We have seen some competition from other citizens who wish to sell general goods, in the spirit of competition I believe they will be worthy competitors to gain customers. They seem to be using tactics against us to take customers. I will continue to inspect their sales and finance and see if they stand any chance of remaining open in the future.

Signed
John Bourne - Business Commander
