Title: Rust Server
Post by: ?Vakarian on July 10, 2015, 07:51:16 PM
Hello all

I've been playing Rust lately and remember the times playing previously when CG had their own Rust server.
My box has been sat around for months not doing anything, so I thought I'd stick a Rust server on there.

You can connect by typing "client.connect 91.121.153.45:28015" into the Rust Console. (Start the game, press F1 to bring up the console).

The server is currently completely vanilla, however, if people start playing and call for modifications, they can be added.
We are on a freshly baked procedural map, so coming across people may be rare at first, due to the large size.

You can see the map here (http://map.playrust.io/?Procedural%20Map_4000_1720768#%5BUK%5D%20www.Catalyst-Gaming.net%20%7C%20No%20Wipe%20%7C%20Vanilla%20%7C%20Large%20Map%20%7C%20)
It is 25km squared. I think this may be a tad too big, personally, and should probably be switched for a smaller one, at least until the player base increases. Let me know what you think.
Switched to a smaller map (Still relatively large)

Wish I could still play rust. It's been too laggy for me since the jump to the new engine.

Rust is strange. It gets my GPU fans going more than games such as Watch Dogs or GTA V :L

Have you tried the DirectX 9 mode? Perhaps that would help?
Or maybe even try running it in Windowed mode. That helps with a few issues.

I've never understood why windowed mode can help with performance. What is the difference in processes between full screen and windowed?

Not sure, but it especially helps with those who tab out often.

In some games, though, it makes a big difference. For the Fallout games, it seems to prevent crashes somehow. There is even a top mod for it that sets it to fake fullscreen to avoid the issues or actual fullscreen :L

Well, it's worth a try.

Also, fake fullscreen fallout3 still crashes for me :(

Dunno if it's worth it. Playing fine, but the moment I have to defend myself, lag spikes like crazy.
