Authorization(s):
Priesthood clothing (Lenten)
Gold (fake) rosary
Small Bible

Name: Father Andrew Zaroli
Age: 51
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Rebellion

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
Father Andrew Zaroli was a Catholic priest who worked in a small community in Romania. It was filled with mostly Americans so Father never had to learn another language. He preached at an old church before the war. When the attack began, Andrew went to the church and grabbed two Lenten robes, a pocket Bible, and a rosary. He then fled to the nearby outlands after telling everyone that they should scatter. He found a few houses with kind Romanian families who understood his predicament. They allowed him to stay for a while as the battle raged. Father stayed for a day and left, wandering the woods. The Overwatch sweeped the outlands areas and Andrew stayed hidden. Andrew found an old destroyed church and preached to people who passed through. He prayed to the only thing still standing, the cross.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
Nothing really, just a purple robe with a gold cross and a Bible. WORD OF GOD YEAH!

Defects
The purple is pretty bright, people can see me well.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
Passive RP. I wanted to RP a priest, so I will.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
Nope, just me.

Which server does this apply for?
Outlands

Extra Notes (optional):
I am Catholic so that's why I'm doing this.

Chapter 1
Beginnings; “Every story has a start.”

I woke up to screaming, guards shouting, people running, people being pummeled as the mob tried to run. I got up out of my bed and got dressed. I ran outside to the sirens blaring and people panicking. Guards trying to guide people out of the Vault, children crying, everything was happening.  I don’t know why, maybe it was instinct, but I ran into the crowd and fought my way to the lab where my father was, only he wasn’t there. I looked for him and there was no trace. I followed the people out to the atrium where the Overseer was in his office, watching the riot unfold. Guards screamed at people as they tried to run, some actually fired at attackers, which made the riot even worse. I tried to follow the line of people going the right way when someone ran up to my with a guards gun and pointed it at me and screamed, “Get down! You’re being robbed!” He seemed to be laughing like a maniac. I immediately grabbed the gun’s barrel and twisted it sideways making it face the wall. He fired once, hitting a glass window and shattering it. I pulled it away and his fingers released. He stepped back when I aimed at him and he ran. I pocketed the weapon and ran to the exit with the people. When we finally got there, the Vault door was open. I was the first to enter the Vault Exit room when I heard a screaming noise and a loud boom. I turned to see the horror. The Vault had collapsed behind me. I was the only survivor from Vault 101.
I gathered my wits and left the tomb. It was a burial now. When I stepped outside, I was stunned by the destroyed landscape. I thought there would be more people. I walked down the rocky slope farther from the Vault. I saw a small town. It had maybe six homes in it with cars parked next to each one. They were completely demolished. As I continued on the path of the broken up road, I took a right and saw a large town of rusted metal and old searchlights. In front of it was an old Protectatron robot. It rotated about 75 degrees, stopped, and began to rotate the other way. It would say, “Howdy partner, welcome to, Megaton.” It would pause between every syllable for about half a second and for about a second for words. I didn’t bother to mess with it. When I was approaching the gate, someone grabbed my leg. I turned to see a man dressed in old rags and flip-flops. His hair was dirty and greasy. His face was a mess with dirt, grime, and blood all mixed in on it. “Please, I need. Water… Please.” You could tell he was dehydrated just by listening to his dry, raspy voice. “I’m sorry, I don’t have any water. Why don’t you go into the town and get some?” “No caps… No water…” “Caps? What do you mean by caps?” “Caps, money, buy water.” “So caps are currency? You mean like, bottle caps? From Nuka-Cola?” He simply nodded. “How much is water?” “Ten for dirty… Twenty for clean…” “I’ll see if I can get you some clean water. Just stay here, ok?” He nodded. I turned and walked away towards the gate. I pushed it open.

Chapter 2
Water: “Where ever there is water, there is life.”

I saw a rusty old town with buildings posted into their places on the slope. All of them were rusty and old. There was a mess of pipes under each one and a maze of bridges that connected everything. I hardly thought they were safe to walk on. I saw in the middle of the town was a huge mass of metal with a bit of water around it. I got a bit closer and saw that the metal mass was an undetonated atomic bomb. A few people were fearlessly surrounding it. One was speaking to it like it was a god of some kind, calling it Atom and saying we are his children, but I had no time to listen. I walked over to the nearby building labeled Brass Lantern. The woman working there asked if I wanted to business. “Yea, I need some clean water. Do you have any?” “Yea I do actually. Twenty-five caps.” “Could we do a trade?” “I guess. What do you have?” I searched around in my pack and found the old baseball bat, guard’s gun, and the BB gun I got for my tenth birthday. “How much will I get for the BB gun?” “Hmm… Forty caps But I’ll pay a cap every ten BBs.” I looked a bit harder in my pack and found a package of BBs. It said ‘100 quality, steel ball BBs!’ I gave her the BB gun and the BBs. She reached into her pocket and put twenty-five caps on the table and a water bottle on the table. “That all you need?” “Yea, I’ll be going. Thanks.” I took the caps and water and put them away. I walked out of the town and to the man. “Did you get me any water?” “Yea, I did. Here, take this.” “Thank you stranger! Here, I have something I want to give you…” He got up slowly and led me to an area next to the town. “Open that box and take what you want.” He was pointing to an old wooden box. “Are you sure you want me to take anything? I mean, I don’t want to rob you.” “No, you take what you want. You saved me.” I slowly approached the box and opened it. It was empty. I made a curious face and figured it out almost instantly. I turned as quickly as I could and saw the man holding a 10mm pistol. It was pointed at me. “Now hand over your bag, and your caps. Do it now!” I slowly took my bag off and put it on the floor close to him. I took out a little baggy of caps and put them with the bag. “Good… You fell for that one. Real easy. But you see, I can’t have you telling the sheriff. So I need you to turn around… It’ll be quick, I promise.”
As I slowly turned around. I heard a faint noise. Like a metal screeching of some kind. Then I heard a noise that was abrupt and quick sounding. It sounded like a laser. I heard the mugger drop the pistol and say, “Ah! That hurt you stupid robot!” I turned around and looked at him. He was holding his hand. I saw the robot nearing us saying, “Justice will be administered swiftly, and fairly.” It fired three more times missing the first two, and hitting him in the forearm on the third. He fell back a bit but caught himself. He got up and began to run. I picked up his pistol. I didn’t aim at him, I just shot to scare him off. But when I did, I saw a faint red puff come from his leg, and he fell. I didn’t know what to do. I had just shot someone. He was going to kill me, but I had still shot him. I lowered the pistol and let it hang from my hand. The Protectatron stopped and said, “All threats neutralized. Justice has been administered.” It went back to its post. I sighed and picked up my bag and caps and walked away. I didn’t bother to go get the water back from him. He could keep it for all I cared.

Chapter 3
Safety; “Safety can be a shield, or a shackle to adventure. Choose wisely.”

When I got back into Megaton it was obvious that people should of heard the gunshot, but it seemed like no one cared. I wasn’t surprised though, people here can be cold and unforgiving. I walked into town and the Sherriff came up to me saying, “I was told what had happened. Are you okay?” “Yea, I should be fine, how did you know?” “Crow, my watch tower guard, saw the predicament. He sent the robot over to help.” Well that explains why that thing came over there. “Well be sure to thank him for me.” “I will, hey, and I wanted you to know that you can have the house over above the Brass Lantern. Okay? It’s the least I could do to ease the troubles you’ve had here.” “Thank you for that. I really don’t have anywhere else to go as of now.” “No problem.” He says as he walks off into town. I go to the shack he assigned me and when I went inside, it was bigger than any other home here, it was pretty big. It came with a bed, desks, food, and everything else that is needed at a home except for running water… Not many homes have that at all here.
I go upstairs and drop my bag on the floor and lie down on the bed, exhausted. This day was the longest I had ever had, and with that in mind, I find myself drifting off to sleep.
When I awake in the morning, I find myself all sweaty from the clothes I forgot to take off and the heat of the un-insulated home. I got up and walked myself downstairs after grabbing my bag. The metal walls were actually hot from the Sun. I made a mental note not to touch them. I go downstairs and open the door of my home, into the open world.

Chapter 1
Private Kodiak Miller

“Hey, Kodiak, go see who that is over there.” said Sergeant Keller. “Yes sir.” I walked over to the group of people next to the NCR-Desert Ranger monument. I noticed their pack Brahmin so I said, “If you need to pass the South-Western Mojave Outpost you need to speak with Major Knight in the barracks.” “Alright then. Where are the barracks?” “The small building to my right. It’s the far one.” “Thanks man.” They continued on to put their Brahmin in the pen and go speak to the Major. I walked back to my position at the outpost. The NCR Ranger, Ghost, was on the roof of the trade center. I’ve always hated the nicknames rangers take. They think it will make Caesar himself surrender at the final battle, they wish.
I am Private Kodiak Miller, I’m an NCR Trooper stationed at the South-Western Mojave Outpost. This outpost keeps track of traders and other people passing into California from Nevada. We don’t get very much action here because Caesar’s fort is north of Cottonwood Cove, which isn’t close at all. So really, there is no thrill here. I was hoping to be stationed at Camp McCarren, but I guess this is better than Camp Forlorn Hope. They don’t even have water clean water over there, even the name is bad…

Chapter 2
Five days later…

I woke up this morning to the sound of pack Brahmin bells and traders speaking to Major Knight. I got up and grabbed my Service Rifle so that I could deal with Raiders or Fiends if I had to. I stepped outside and saw an unusually busy day. More traders than there should be. I didn’t question the orders of crowd control. Some of the Brahmin were uneasy around each other. I had to help keep all the traders in line and not fighting to get to Major Knight. I was later assigned to helping with the people entering camp, getting their I.D.s, passes, proof that they are legit traders from Crimson Caravan, things like that. But one man walks up with his Brahman and asks me, “Where do the troops here stay?” I was surprised because of that being his first question. That isn’t really what a trader asks when they first get here. “I don’t think that matters… I need you to go to Major Knight in the barrack over there.” I point to the troop barrack, realizing a second later what I had just done when he dashed over as fast as he could trying to get there. He pushed over troops and trampled traders and ran over to the gate. He kicked it open and the troop in front of it fell over. I aimed my rifle and tried to fire but it never gave off the loud bang. It seemed to be jammed. He was almost into the barracks, troops unaware of the situation, thinking he is just annoying and ignoring him. I pull the ‘jam-bar’ back and a round flies out of the chamber. I then aim and quickly fire three bullets at him. They all missed, one almost hitting a trader. I ran to chase after him, throwing my rifle down to pick up speed. I passed by the people he knocked over, not bothering to help, I raced him to the barracks, he was at the door, I was passing the gate. He was inside and the door was shutting, I was almost in. I kicked the door in and he was standing there, in the middle of the room, arm raised, detonator in hand. I did the obvious thing and jumped at him. He fell to the floor with me, the detonator clattering to the floor, the small switch un-flipped. We were safe.
Chapter 3
Rough Starts
I had blacked out from the adrenaline rush in a bed, with Major Knight next to it. He was speaking but no words were heard. I passed out again after a minute of madness in trying to interpret his words. I awoke again, able to hear and with Major Knight still there. He began to talk again and this time I could hear him. “You awake now?” he says. I nod slightly. “Good. That guy you took down, he was a bomber from Caesar’s Legion. You got him Kodiak, you saved the base.” I smile at the thought of what I had achieved. I had just saved around twenty lives… That’s a great feat. I nodded to the Major and he continued. “You have also…” He pauses for dramatic effect. “You are now a Sergeant.” I froze in my bed, thinking about it. I had only saved about twenty men. That isn’t worth such a rank in the NCR. But he explains how I had also saved the outpost from capture. If we had lost this outpost, trade control would be lost. Thanks to me, I was now one of the war heroes that the NCR has, I had saved their trade lines from total failure. I take this in and nod at him. He continues, “Along with that, you are to take your gear when you’re ready and head out to Hoover Dam, you’ve been reassigned.” This was the hardest for me to take in. I was thinking I would just be moved to Helios One or something. But this is big. Being able to protect the dam with all those Rangers. I think about it like it’s an offer and say to him, “Ok… I’ll get packed up.” “Good, the caravan will arrive tomorrow.” I get up and pack my things into a big sack and put it beside my bed. I walk out and see two soldiers standing at the gate guarding it. They both stand at attention but do not salute. I nod at them casually and they loosen up. I walk out to the road, watching the caravans pass through.

When I finally got bored, I went inside and laid down on my bed, thinking about this day and the day before. I was stopped when Knight walked in. He went to his bed and just fell asleep. Long day for him I guess… I did the same though. I was fast asleep instantly. And when I awake, I’m looking at Brigadier General Abernathy McAlister, my new commanding officer.

-Unregiestered citizen
-Zipties
-v Flags

Name: Harris "Haggle" Bermington
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Resistance

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
BEFORE THE INVASION: 1988-2011
Harris was just a simple teenager that worked a gas station. They had lots of items, the place even had a pharmacy. He was born in Oklahoma in 1988 and at this time, was about 19. He worked long hours as a cashier there, selling general junk and food. One day, he was selling to a man and he made a mistake in the counting, the man was honest enough to tell him. The man's name was Eulogy Jones. Eulogy was a great trader and survivor. He didn't live by the book at all. Eulogy taught Harris his haggling tricks in spare time, and actually became a good friend, coming in often to see him. One day, when the large blue storm clouds appeared and a portal formed, Eulogy knew what had to be done. He went to Harris at the gas station and they gathered many items and stuffed them into bags, items they would need to survive, foods, water, sheets of camoflauged material. They grabbed a bunch of items from the pharmacy too, just in case. Before they left, Eulogy grabbed a container of zipties (6 ties). They got into Eulogy's car and drove off away from the portal.

INVASION SURVIVAL: MARCH 2012-AUGUST 2012
Knowing that it was too late for Harris' family, Eulogy comforted him with an old Gameboy he got for a friends child. They drove to an airport where people were unaware of what had happened. Eulogy explained to Harris that they needed to get to Russia, he knew a friend named Nikolai that could help out. They bought two tickets for buisness class and flew off. When they arrived in Russia, it was night, people were asleep, but Harris and Eulogy were wide awake. They got off and went to Nikolai's apartment, where they met his step-brother, Carson FitzGibbon. They spoke about what had gone on in the U.S. and decided to stay quiet and low profile about it. A day later, the invasion had begun in Russia, people getting cut down like animals, explosions, blood... So much blood. Harris and Eulogy gathered their stolen goods and ran off into a panic room Nikolai had installed. Carson and Nikolai had left so they wouldn't mind. They stayed there for a very long time, waiting out the explosions. Finally, when they stopped, they emerged, pale from the lack of Sun, their eyes burning from the bright light they had forgotten. The city was in ruins, large beasts roamed, searching for people. Flying things flew about, loudly disrupting the bit of silence they had. They ran out to Nikolai's car which was somehow not destoyed. Eulogy hotwired it and drove off, avoiding the aliens and heading towards the forrest. When they arrived, they unpacked and ditched the gasless car, heading into the forest and setting camp at a small cave.

TRANSFER TO CITY 45: 2013-PRESENT DAY
Eulogy and Harris had survived there for a fear years, eating foods they took and some they had found at old camp sights. They hid from the new Combine soldiers and Eulogy taught Harris all his tequniques, how to hide, survive, haggle, even how to use a bow that he made from old wood. One day, an Overwatch patrol came by and spotted their camp. Eulogy was there, alone, while Harris gathered items for their survival. They gunned Eulogy down in his rest, Harris heard the shots and Eulogy's final screams. Luckily, he had taken most of the supplies with him, but not Eulogy's bow. He knew it was too late for Eulogy and the other camp items he had. Now, Harris only had 4 zipties. He walked to an old canal and followed it for a day or so, not stopping due to his determination to get answers to the slaughter of Eulogy. When he came to the outskirts of City 45, he knew it was the right place. He walked into the dark areas of the canals, finding his way to the exit walking into the Precinct Three canals. He saw something, a floating ball. It flashed at a note on the wall, and began to come close to Harris, he didn't know what to do! So he ran behind a dark pillar in the canal, not knowing why he chose this place over the inside of a dumpster, but then he remembered one of Eulogy's teachings. "Sound also applies to stealth." The dumpster would make noise as he shut it. The scanner flew right by, not even flashing him. Harris then ran for his life, he went into the P3 apartments and hides there now, quietly holding onto his items, learning about the city he never got to see obliterated.

EPILOGUE
Harris now hides, surviving and staying quiet. He sometimes goes back to the Outlands, but rarely ever. He sells items he had gotten from the old store he worked at. He set up a small memorial in a vacant area, quietly going to speak to the body that should be buried there.

Suggestions / Outlands too many player spots
« on: May 11, 2012, 07:25:02 AM »
Why does Outlands get 50 player slots but City get 40? City almost always fills up and needs more people playing whereas Outlands usually caps at about 15 players.

Events / [SUGGESTION] Friendly Fire
« on: May 06, 2012, 01:08:33 PM »
Okay, this event involves a misfire of headcrab canisters from City 17. (C17 is close because of how the Citadel can be seen from the D6 Hardpoint.) It all will begin when C17 is firing canisters at a suspected rebel outpost, but one launcher jams and is reset, but it was reset in both its launching system and automatic reloading system, so no one set the new launch data. It fired inside its own bunker and destroyed that part of the bunker, causing the other guns to go haywire and fire randomly. Part of the shells hit C45. Now, they have a major headcrab infestation in all the Districts, and one canister hits the side of the Nexus, causing a large titanium shield that guarded the side to fall and block the front door, this brings the need for dropships to get the units out onto the streets to deal with the threat, which wastes a lot of time. Eventually, COTA is deployed along with CCA units to deal with the threat while VICE units work away at the wall, trying to move it. When a unit is outside of the Nexus, they may not be sent back for a resupply, this brings the need for ammo to be available. I think that the CCA will be able to sanction a shop to use as a temporary armory, any citizens that near it will be shot on sight. Along with that, it will be guarded by one COTA unit. Later in the event, COTA units from C17 are deployed to deal with the other Districts and the threat is removed. Now, this is how we fix the citizen problem of not being able to do anything but sit in the UCH. They will be confined to the UCH. But one canister has hit the roof and nobody saw it. About 4 headcrabs will go into the UCH and the citizens will have to deal with them. (They cannot be REAL NPCs! Nominate 4 trusted RPers to do it, citizens have no way to OOCly hurt the headcrabs so they can \me and all with the crabs.) Then we just call in 11-44s to clean up the mess!

Suggestions / APC Vehicle for HL2RP
« on: May 05, 2012, 07:19:44 PM »
I think we could use an APC for HL2RP. It would be added along with the new map, I saw the new map and how it had that underground bunker and garage. I think it would be pretty sweet to have an APC there to use in certain conditions or if we need to move HC units from one place to another in bad conditions.
What should it need to be able to do:
     -Have a working turret
     -Be drivable
-Not be just the model put onto a jeep. (Needs moving wheels and all.)

Requirements to drive:
-Must have an active biosignal that is VICE 02+. (All HC can drive)
-Must have been trained in proper vehicle maintenance and operation.
-Must have HC authorization to deploy.

Extra suggestions:
-Be biolockable to prevent a lolwebul entering it.
I.E.
Durp Hurp gets in the APC
Durp Hurp drives out
Durp Hurp kills da cps
Durp Hurp charswaps to Gordan Freeman
-Have 4 extra seats in back. (If not possible we can weld chairs and use color tool to make em invisible.)

Ok, das about it.

Authorization(s):
-Special Fighting Moves.
-Special Knives.
-Unique Clothing. (Grimy Black Hoodie, old makeshift denim facemask)

Name: Daniel Parson
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Rebellion

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
Daniel Parson was born in Southern Alabama. Being a 'red neck'. He liked to blow things up and shoot. But his favorite thing to do was throw sharp objects. One day, he took his father's hatchet and went to the field and threw it at some trees. He did this for months everyday, his accuracy improving each day. When he was finally strong enough and accurate enough to throw the hatchet and hit the tree in the middle of the trunk from 10 to 15 yards, he moved on to knives. He did not have to practice as much with these, it was just like throwing the hatchet except the knives go farther. When he was 21, he bought a full knife kit filled with all kinds of knives including special knives used in throwing. When he was about 13, he enrolled in a martial arts class and worked his way up to a black belt over the coarse of a year or so. He later moved to Paris and got a job as a professional knife thrower and did parkour for the circus. He lived in an apartment building. He kept his knives under the floor boards of his bathroom. When the invasions began, he hid in his room until it was all over, he strangley survived. He kept his knives hidden when inspection teams came looking for any weapons. When he was going to be relocated, he could not take all of his knives, so he brought these:

-3 Throwing knives (Out of the 10 the kit had.)
Spoiler for Hiden:

-1 Folding Knife (WARNING: Big picture)
Spoiler for Hiden:

He got these weapons into the city by hiding two of the knives in the soles of his shoes and the other in his sock. The folding knife he had was folded and hidden in the opposite sock so that a difference in height could not be distinguished. He made his way into D6 and hides there today, using his secret spots to avoid the Combine. He later came across a rebel that did not hide fast enough and was shot. He took the black hoodie from him and found some old jeans in an apartment. He used his knives to cut them up into a makeshift mask that he cut holes into to make his face hidden.

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
Being able to take down a CCA opponent rank RCT to 05 on a 50-60% chance of winning, being able to take down an 04 to 02 with 20-30% chance of winning, and maybe being able to take down an 01 or OfC with a 10% chance of actually surviving. DvL+ will really need some good rp and fighting from me, maybe 5% chance. It will also give me the knives listed in the backstory.

Defects
My character may not have any type of extra armor as it would slow him down and make certain fighting moves harder to accomplish.

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan to enhance the fun and seriousness of some D6 sweeps and add to the unique qualities that the rebels have.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
No, this is a single character authorization app.

Which server does this apply for?
City

Extra Notes (optional):
My character is not part of a formal rebel faction, he simply hates the Combine and stays in D6.

~IC PART~
Full Name: Sarah Collins
Citizen identification(CID): 10508
Last Assigned Apartment Number: A1
Total Loyalist Points: -No more loyalist points-
Sex: Female
Age: 28

How long have you been in City45:
I have lost accurate track, but it should be about three weeks, give or take a few days.

Why do you want to join the CWU?:
I would like to help out around the City as much as possible. I have thought about this for a while and I think that being in the CWU would be the best possible way for me to legally help the population of City 45. If possible, I will help everyone in City 45 in the best way I can. I have always wanted to help around the City when I saw what some of the conditions had ended up as. I did think and I noticed that the main reason may be the invasion. But I understood that there isn't any fighting what has come and gone, and besides, we have no overpopulation, low crime, and little to no air pollution because of the electric APCs and other synthetic vehicles.

Have you ever been detained before?(If so why):
No, I do my best to not cause problems around the City as that would be opposite of why I would like to join the CWU.

Past experience with work/labor:
When I was young I used to be a medical intern. But that wasn't my only employment, I also volunteered to help around our city and clean up pollution and plant trees. Although it was not a paying job, my parents helped put me through college with the little money I could make by working at Target as an assistant manager.

Name 4 things the CWU Can possess, and 4 things we cant. Also state why.:
The CWU can possess the power to help others and to save lives. They can do anything from simply showing a citizen where they can get some knowledge about keeping healthy, to actually saving lives or teaching how to save others when they have to. The CWU also sells important items to citizens who would like to add something special to their life, like maybe some delicious CWU approved lemonade or an orange. They can also organize small citizen events that would bring everyone together to help clean the City, or help after a disaster. They do all of this because this is their job, this is what the CWU is really for.

But the CWU has it's limits. They aren't peacekeepers like the CCA. They aren't there to uphold the laws and keep the City safe. They cannot possess weapons to help the CCA in efforts to enforce law. The CWU cannot, in any way, shape, or form, assist in unlawful activity like assisting a criminal or disrespecting an officer. They cannot do these things because some of these things are the CCA's job, and some are counter-productive to the CWU's cause.

Tell us about what you can do.:
I am kind of a universal helper, if you will. I can assist in basic medical treatment from the internship I had. But one thing that I oddly have to do with some things, is organize and categorize. I really just love keeping things symmetrical and tidy. Clean and perfect is what I aim for in whatever I do. I also consider myself a people person. I get along well with others, I have a hard time making enemies. One last thing I can do is have a good work ethic, when I have to do something, I get it done, sometimes better than expected.

If a citizen asks for help and is new to the city, what would you do?:
I would first introduce myself and what the CWU does around here. I would show him around, where to go and not to go. I would show him where the CCA headquarters was and where the CWU headquarters was. I would also teach him about some of the people here, how they react to certain kinds of social interaction, and how to look good in front of officers. If he was unfamiliar with our current laws and restrictions, I would help him understand them so that he could stay out of trouble. I would, in the end, ask if I had answered all of his questions and if wanted to know more about our City. If he said he did not need anymore help, I would guide him to the UCH and tell him that these are the apartments and to speak to an officer to be assigned a room.

Roleplay Experience: Generally, I have been roleplaying for about 4 months.
Serious Roleplay Experience: I have been playing serious role-play servers for about 1 and a half months or more.
Detail a regular day as a worker of the CWU?:
A usual day as a CWU worker would probably include stressful days and hard work. My character will encounter seemingly impossible tasks, and a lot of labor. She will have to sometimes work with imbeciles to complete tasks that citizens must participate in. She will also have to follow procedures and sometimes meaningless orders and do useless jobs. But she knows what she signed up for and what she is working at. She knows she is working alongside the other CWU workers for a better future for their City.

But towards the end of the day, Sarah will have met new people, helped the City she lives in, and know that she is working toward a new and better future for others. The overall day for Sarah will be stressful, headache-causing, and annoying. But with enough effort and self-determination, she will make it by.

Character Backstory:
Sarah was born in Idaho in 1988. Her family moved to New York when she was 11. She attended a private school in New York and grew up with a high quality education. She later attended Mount Sinai Medical School and was an intern at the local hospital.

When she was 23 she went to see her boyfriend she met over Facebook in Russia. When she arrived, she spent four days there before the invasion began. They were separated in the chaos. His whereabouts are unknown, but Sarah survived in an old apartment which later became the UCH.

Later, she met Carson FitzGibbon, a man who had been living there for a long time. He explained to her how he saw the first officer and rebels. Sarah took in the information and stayed with him until people were later assigned apartments. She stayed in apartment A1 for a while until she heard about the new CWU program. She learned about what they do and their purpose.

She thought about joining for a while and finally said to herself, "I want to do this." And made her application. Sarah is currently enjoying her stay in City 45. She really likes the layout of the City. Now she is awaiting her applications reviewal.

Carson FitzGibbon's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: cfitz22

IC Character Name: Carson FitzGibbon

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
Carson FitzGibbon had always wanted to join the CCA after witnessing the death of his brother, Nikoli. He wants to help out and be a part of the good the Union does for the city. The big push that made him want to join up was the death of his brother though, nothing was more moving, more motivating than that. He began his training by trying to stay in shape. He lifted cinder blocks that were found lying around trash piles. He is as loyal as he can be to the CCA and respects every officer.

Even before the invasion he always wished to do good for the human race. Even after they wiped out most the population he still wanted to be with them, they would have survived if they just didn't fight back. They would of just, been left aside, there on Earth to live another day in a world where pollution was common and crime was thriving. He knew he was wise to make that decision to stay hidden. Now his life is leading up to this moment, the application that will most likely change his future in city 45. He will forever remember all the training he did, all his hard work to get to this point.

Carson has worked for a long time to get here. He has, like I have stated, trained his best with what he has, challenged himself physically and mentally by his hard work and determination to do his best and surpass even his highest expectations. His dedication, his sacrifice, and his determination have all led him to the one goal he really has, to reach his dream of being able to do good for everyone. Please make your choice wisely and to the best of your idea of what's right and best for us all. Thank you for your time and careful reading.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
Carson FitzGibbon is very trustworthy, he will take many tasks seriously and get them done. He is also quite strong; his ability to run fast also applies because of his strong calf muscles. (He walks on his tip-toes quite often.) But he cannot run as long as others could.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
The Combine Civil Authority will be, at some times, brutal and challenging with obstacles to overcome. But sometimes the life as an officer will be slow and relaxed. When on patrol, it's always going to be relaxing and slow paced. Listening to the sounds of the city, the noise of the occasional train arrival. And the noise of quiet civilians talking amongst themselves. But at times of unrest, when people come out to fight with no reason.

The life will be fast paced. Every step you take could be your last. Everything you do takes part in deciding if you live to save the city, or die trying. Sometimes will be filled with frustration and agony. Getting angry at all the citizens who run and jump around while you cannot respond. The uncivil activities! All the unrest building your anger like the Citadel on the first weeks of the Combine arrival! Overall being in the CCA is a bumpy road to salvation.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Carson FitzGibbon was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended a poor Catholic School. Although the school did not look perfect, the academics were at high standards. He then moved on to Nolan High, and got a scholarship to M.I.T. He moved to Michigan to attend and left his family in Texas. At this time, his adopted older brother, Nikolia, was living in Russia.

At age 23 he flew to Moscow to visit his older brother, Nikolia. On his last day there, the Combine took over and he fled the area and got to a nearby bomb shelter built in the 1970's as a result of the Cold War. His retreat was a dangerous one because he had to cross through streets of raging fires and dead police officers and military personnel. He survived on simple canned beans for a few weeks, rationing his food and water. When he emerged, he found the city in ruins. He wandered for a while and then got his first glimpse of the partially built Citadel.

It was already huge, towering over the city like a skyscraper. He fled to a nearby apartment complex and stayed there living off another man's food. He stayed there for at least a month, maybe more. He left when the food was running low and he needed to restock. He soon found an abandon Wal-Mart where he stayed for about three months. Later one day he was met by a small group of men wearing torn up military uniforms and helmets.

They were holding pistols. One confronted him about how he was starting a resistance, how he was going to fight back. But Carson just ignored all the influence. They left after they had gathered some food from the store. Another month passed until he saw a man walking through the streets with an MP7. His armor was sleek and dark. He was obviously not one of those savage looking rebels. This was the first CCA officer.

He was at the rank of 01 because he was one of the first to come to his senses and join their new CCA program. Carson got out of the store and confronted him asking, “What’s going on?” and, “What’s happening?”He explained what had happened and how Wallace Breen surrendered humanity. He sounded rather proud of himself. After years of staying loyal, he finally began to understand what the real good of the Union was, how they saved us from so much evil. The officer led him to an apartment complex where he was to stay.

And he did stay, for about one year, watching as so many people began to live in it after getting orders from the new officers. He began to work for them, cleaning and helping out.  Then, he witnessed a nightmare that even he could never dream of. He was going about his business, walking through the streets, when a group of men emerged from the alleyway, all armed with weapons. They fired upon the nearby officers. A hail of bullets hit the man about 4 feet away from him.

After the rebels were killed, he ran to the injured man. He recognized him as Nikolai. He died that day, he wasn't able to move at all, and he never got any help because of how severe his injuries were... He died in the CWU hospital. This set Carson on his path to the Union. Now, he wants to avenge his brother more than anything in the world.

Social Discussion / Mongol-Combine Comparison
« on: March 25, 2012, 08:28:43 AM »
The Combine and the Mongol Empire aren't very different... They both conquered cities swiftly and efficiently. And if you go by HL2, both later fell apart by rebelions. But the Combine brought stability to the world. So did the Mongol's Kubilai Khan, though that was only some of Europe and Asia. And they both let the previous occupants live in their countries. Who here thinks that Valve used the Mongol Empire to model the Combine? The only significant difference is that one was existing in 1260 and the other in 2015.
