Accepted Authorizations / Stephen Kane's Authorization Application
« on: January 08, 2012, 03:13:29 PM »
Player Section

Steam Name: RapidJuice
Age: 16-17
How long have you been Roleplaying? (can be any game): 2-2.5 years.
How long have you been playing Serious GMod RP?: 2 years.

Character Section

Authorization(s):
- My character to be mentally and physically conditioned through rough training and healthy eating.
- Through training, to be stronger than the average citizen who is also healthy and/or any low ranking CCA, within reason.
- Good combat knowledge in close-combat, although self-trained to use a fire-arm effectively. (Which my character has ICly already.)

Name: Stephen Kane
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Resistance

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
Around the time Stephen Kane became a wanted Anti-Citizen, he found District Six to be his home. Constantly he would condition himself further and further to prepare for the next time his life would be taken. He used a large warehouse to his advantage, using the cross-beams as a pull-up bar, and running laps from one side to the other. After a long time of making friends within the city, he met a man who supplied him with a fire-arm, a compact 9-Millimeter pistol (Damien Samshire).

For several weeks he would lock himself inside the warehouse, constantly pitting himself towards soul-breaking physical and mental training. His friends he had made supplied him with healthy food, water and Steroids, (although scared of the rumour that they would effect his genital area). (They didn't, luckily). They allowed him to train for longer periods of time, supplied by the Steroid power of a Civil Protection unit, where the Steroids came from directly, smuggled by anti-citizens.

Day after day he would isolate himself inside this warehouse, the stink of sweat, blood and tears almost numbing his nostrils. Constantly reloading, taking apart, putting togehter, aiming, reloading, taking apart, putting together, aiming. On the brink of insanity, he knew he had seen the other side of his ordeal. His training had made him stronger, he could feel the adrenaline-feulled blood pumping through his inner-core.

He practiced on sacks of maize he had found near the darker areas of the warehouse he accomodated. He hit them until they burst, not knowing when to stop until he could see visibly the blood seeping from his red-raw knuckles.

(To note, I have done all of these acts. I actually locked myself inside XCCR ICly and did all this.)
(Also, this is not an auth for a weapon, I already have one gained through IC means.)

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
- Adept in basic hand-to-hand combat.
- Copius knowledge on the standard 9MM Pistol, and the knowledge of self-trained, unsafe and volatile basic fire-arms use.
- Stronger than the average citizen through IC training he must endure every week or so.

Defects
- Combat style is unpracticed and unproffesional, only effective against the very untrained.
- Very little knowledge on the area outside of District Six, can get lost very easily.
- Scared of the world outside of District Six somewhat.
- Must keep up with training (I can supply these /me's and training RP to admins through RP observation.)
- My character smells very unhygenic from all the training!

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
-Become a figure to be reckoned with, perhaps even famous among the D6 community.
-I will not abuse my authorizations or use them as little flags to show "Haha I'm better than you".
-Increase a level of Anti-citizen Roleplay through teaching training techniques supplied by character.

Will anyone else need these auths? (If so, list OOC and IC name(s))
Nope.

Which server does this apply for?
City

Extra Notes (optional):

18
Man, I don't think it'll matter. Basically, if you submit an exceptional application surrounded by some great passive RP, they'll probably be obliged to accept it. Besides, I'm fairly sure I've seen you RP and I think you're good to my recall.
So basically, if nobody backs you up, I will.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / City 45 Basketball Hoop!
« on: January 07, 2012, 10:43:15 AM »

                                      City 45
                              Basketball League!

Yes, you heard right, kiddies! District 6 now has it's own Basketball hoop.
Shoot some hoops with your friends, chill out, make enemies and possibly end up with BOL Status.
It's fun for ALL the family!

This is the basketball hoop itself. The rules are provided on the fence, although I will run over them.

DA RULEZ.
1. THERE ARE NO RULES! (Apart from the ones underneath*)
2. Do not use the Hands Swep. Use the E Key to control the ball.
3. Using the hands key is considered a FOUL BALL, although isn't useful anyway.
4. If you run into a player, press the E key on the ball and hit into the ball, the player will drop the ball. (Not ICly, properly OOC, its a cool feature)
5. You don't need to /me every action you do. Hardcore players may want to do things like /me throws, but I don't care.
6. HAVE FUN.

I thought this was a great way to encourage Passive RP in District Six, so I made this. It works perfectly, I've done it on a couple servers before. (I hope this isn't a breach of Tool Trust rules or abuse in any way, but it's really fun.)

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Gordon Freeman.
« on: January 06, 2012, 07:02:33 AM »
Well, the idea is that after a short while, most or all citizens would know about Freeman before he came.
But, well. Vortigaunts are retarded and probably did a load of Yoda talk to accompany it, so they didn't know what he looked like.

Another key incident is when Gordon first arrives in City 17, the cameras instantly tag him as "647e" AKA BOL by our standards. That means Dr. Breen kinda made it a big deal if he came back. Since he was just about to board a train to Nova Prospekt after being directed by Civil Protection, then Barney had to save his glasses-wearin' ass with a random inspection.

So basically.
People who have contact with a Vortigaunt, AKA making friends with a Vortigaunt allows that Vortigaunt to tell that person about Freeman. Yay! Finally!

In turn, a citizen can tell two citizens, then it'll spread and spread until Episode 3 never comes out.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Gordon Freeman.
« on: January 05, 2012, 06:13:04 PM »
This has been on my mind for a little while, but it's not a thread about "omg sum1 maek a grd0n fr33man character".

We all know that the Vortigaunts were enslaved by the Combine, right? That's what they do. They enslave races.
So, Gordon Freeman in Half Life, somewhere a long time before where our HL2RP is set, kills the Nihilanth and the Vortigaunts pledge allegiance to humanity. In short, Vorts join the Resistance for the good of humanity. Hence why you don't see a loyalist vortigaunt.

Thing is, Vortigaunts are all linked by a big ol' telepathic force called the "Vortessense". Vortigaunts can all speak to eachother and their leaders/elders must have told them at some point:
"Hey guys. We need to help the humans. Not the Combine."
But, whether or not these elders or leaders told the rest of the race about the hero who saved their entire race from an eternity of slavery is kinda hazy in HL2RP servers, so they just kinda void Gordon Freeman completely from their roleplay.

Since we can't assume there are any Vortigaunt loyalists whatsoever, since the HL2 canon thinks that's ridiculous, there must have been a point where every Vortigaunt was told about Freeman or atleast their race being freed. Whether that be they were all horded into a big room and did a Power-Point presentation about it, or told through the Vortessense if possible. Vortigaunts should know about Freeman.

Think about it, every Vortigaunt knows that some mysterious hero called "Freeman" released their race from slavery, but even while Gordon Freeman is in stasis during this time after he defeats the Nihilanth, shouldn't they have mentioned him SOMEWHERE?

I'm not saying everyone should know about Gordon Freeman coming back to save their race from the Combine's rule, but Vortigaunts should atleast have hope that he'd return.
Thoughts?

Guides / Re: The Resistance and Webuls and how to tell them apart.
« on: January 04, 2012, 12:38:11 PM »
This is a really great guide, you really hit the nail on the head. Proud to be a "Resistance" myself. 8)

Well, the Resistance are more usually found in the Outlands, but you might wanna mention that the Resistance in the city aren't heroes like the Outlands ones. The Resistance who are in the Outlands need others to survive, guns etcetera are provided by their friends or colleagues, along with food and shelter on most part. You might want to mention that the City Resistance are much, much different. Since they inhabit the city, any move they make could make them end up dead. City Resistance members are much darker people, often don't care if citizens get in their way. Perhaps even giving their own lives, an easier word would be Terrorists. Since it's easier to be in the Outlands, surrounded by others and having everything readily available, being in the City is what they're used to. AKA, they are much smarter than the average Resistance Member you find in the Outlands, having to navigate back alleys and knowing which places you can hide in, and which you can't. Perhaps even driven to the brink of insanity by their isolated surroundings. However, their forms of RP and ways they conduct themselves are much more of a thrilling experience, since their unpredictability causes a more tense roleplay.

Just sayin'.  ::)

IC Chat / Stephen Kane

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzAv3Cv7a_U

It's hard to hold this pen. I forgot how. I've not written in such a long time - to anyone.

I guessed I should write something down before I'm gone. I think I saw it in a cowboy film once, some guy wrote a memoir to whoever found his dead remains, then he ended up not dying in the end. Then again, this isn't a film. So here, if my brains are blown out and you've stumbled across this in my back pocket, lemme tell you about who that handsome rogue you're looting from is was.

I grew up in North Aberdeen, on a farm near the centre of town. Scotland was brilliant, hence why it was socially acceptable for a boy to do farm work, and have a local town nearby.
At the beginning, I wasn't so great in school, being of 18 years old on a college course my parents forced me into, all I cared about was girls and cars. After I flunked, they ditched me. Mammy and Pa left their son because I didn't want to do some stupid educational hoop-jumping.

I went into the Strathclyde Police with help from my friends, they guided me through the various interviews. After a while, I was just a beat cop walking the streets of Aberdeen and sometimes Fife. Then I met Nicole, she was 21, I was 23. I married her after a year, blindly. It didn't matter, we loved eachother. We scraped together enough cash for a flat together, me as a beat cop and her a checkout girl at some supermarket.
She promised me she'd bare my child. She texted me during work, which she seldom did. I rushed home, then by some twisted humour, the Synths invaded before I reached her. I was instantly cut off by traffic in the chaos, sprinting home to find the entire flat burnt to the ground. I ditched my Uniform, imagining they'd see some symbol of power from it. I kept the shoes.

After being "processed" into the regime of the Combine, I quickly met Peter and Gary. There's lots more, but I'm leaving them out. Gary's dead now, but I never forgot him. He saved my life a couple times in ways I'm not gonna describe, since they'll probably hang my body in the plaza for it.

So I guess I should tell you about the Uprising. Basically, me and Peter are going t*SNAP*
The pen has clearly snapped at this point.

Introductions / Hi, I'm Rapid.
« on: December 19, 2011, 06:37:58 PM »
Hey guys, I'm Scott. I live in Scotland. Which is not ironic or hilarious.

I've been fond of roleplaying ever since I accidentally clicked on a DarkRP server when I was new to Garry's Mod. From then on, I started to roleplay in various other servers, most of which are gone now, like GRP, Exos, Gmod.biZ, SLA, Slidefuse and many more. I'm especially keen to Resistance leading. I've led 6 Resistance groups in my lifetime which were succesful and 2 which were not, which makes me more than experienced when I'm "Talking turkey" with other folk who believe they're pro Resistance. Although, I understand where the server stands in terms of Resistance groups and I wouldn't dream of ruining it for the moment.

Here's some facts about me.
I like dogs, but not cats.
I play rugby on thursdays and sometimes fridays.
I hate OOC Combine Loyalists, AKA people who don't see things from citizens viewpoints.
I can SexRP very well!
I have two dogs, Millie and Pip.
I'm not doing too great in school.
I'm "taken".
I'm not a furry and I hate anime.
I don't like Rock/Metal. At all. Hearing it makes me physically sick.
I'm actually quite a nice guy if you get to know me.
