General Discussion / Re: Draining
« on: February 22, 2013, 03:32:20 PM »
Storm Drains don't actually contain sewage, silly. Just run off.

KJUN, you seem to be under the impression that I'll die down there, and it's just a matter of how difficult it'll be to retrieve my corpse...
I've looked into it quite a bit, and it ought to be safe down there when there's no precipitation. Met was my forte when I went through aviation training, so I can be fairly sure that there won't be any death storms.

Smt, why not get into draining? Chernobyl is cool, but very far away.

So, CG, what do ya'll know about draining? And no, not the removal of water from an environs, I'm talking about the act of exploring urban storm drainage systems. Far be it for me to suggest that I leave my basement once in a while, but it's sort of become my new hobbie.

My friends and I recently discovered an unlocked exit tunnel dumping into our city's resovoir, and it's so cool seeing what's down there. We're trying to map it out, but it's so damned extensive.

What're your thoughts/experiences?

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Citizens listening to the CP radio frequency

GRID does actually have a means to triangulate. And it would be relatively easy to do, as only one individual can be live on the net at a time.

Obey, and enlist in the miltary. At last, there would be what appears to be a stable government. One must fight to maintain order in the society; countries that rebel to enforce a democracy usally end up as poop, unless taken over by another dictator. (exception: USA. Dubious.)
Destablizing elements such as revolutionaries would have to be eliminated, for the good of society. Is your 'freedom of speech'--that few of us use, at the moment--really worth screwing everybody?

General Discussion / Bye bye

Well, I'll be keeping this short and to the point.

As far as I can see, the next few years of my life are going to be crammed with work and things to do, and I'll not be left very much time for gaming. Naturally, this means that I can't continue being an admin on CG, and that my characters will probably peter out from lack of use.
In addition to that, certain interpersonal relationships have boiled over to the point where I can't properly enjoy HL2RP in this community.

Thanks to Rofl for giving me op, and a bigger thanks to all of you who've contributed to my RP experience here. The fun I've had here is second only to what I experienced on BnT's WW3RP before it collapsed some time ago.
I can't really write to everybody who's made my experience fun. You're all so numerous, that I really only have time to write to those few core people who really made this for me. I'll probably end up thanking more people who've come and gone, than are still here. Don't be offended if you're not mentioned. These are the people who did something awe inspiringly important to me.

Col. Avalanche, for first introducing me to CG in the spring of 2010... Even though I didn't actually bother to register on the forums until June 2011!

Jackalantern, for being the best DvL I have seen to date, way back in C18.

Kage Kuro, for helping me see things through a second pair of eyes, and amusing me when things got dull serverside.

Saimon Avatar, for helping me get back into resistance RP after a long dry spell.

Riemer, for being my shenanigan buddy, and helping my factory plans before they got terminated.

Silent, for encouraging me to go through with my 'trader idea', and thus bringing Gorbachev to life.

Loves to my GRID squids who were there while I was HC, even though I didn't do nearly enough for you guys, and half of you probably hated me! :D

Lastly, one particular thank you to the players of Outlands during this past spring season. Almost all of you have participated in one of my events at one point or another, and I had a blast planning all of them out. A good chunk of you have also interacted with, and helped me define what has to be my most favorite character to date, Gorbachev the Trader. He took a shit load of effort and skill to RP with, but it was sure as hell worth it.

604 has been reassigned to C14, continuing his service there.
John Gatsby is laying low in C45 with his stashes of bomb making paraphernalia.
Florian 'Gorbachev' Dugglewoof is dangerously continuing his travels across the countrysides of Eastern Europe, keeping as low a profile as his considerable girth allows him. He one day hopes to return to the relatively peaceful -and profitable- valley of Ineu Pass.

Some of my favorite music :)

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Denied Authorizations / Re: Path Chet's Authorization Application
« on: August 16, 2012, 08:13:50 AM »
The main thing I have a problem with, is how the katana is rather OP throughout it all. Historically, the decapitation blow is something that can only really be learned after years of training in traditional Japanese martial arts.
Your own character, as an untrained swordsman, wouldn't be able to pick it up and just cut an arm off.

I can vouch for his level of roleplay. In my reasonably large experience RPing with/around him, I've seen nothing but the best. The backstory appears sound.
+support

Gorbachev isn't gone forever, only while I'm on leave ): One week 4 days to go...

Backstory's intact,
+support for implimention in general, even though it's already approved for a trial period.

Creations / Re: Outland- A Half Life 2 RP inspired short story.
« on: August 03, 2012, 09:53:56 PM »
Shameless and necessary necropost to praise this amazing piece of work. The plot flowed very well, and it drew and held my attention within seconds. Very well done. I'm not sure why this hasn't been recognized before.

If it's not too late, please make some sort of parade square or something. Even just adding a back entrance to the HCMR would be rather beneficial.

Oh nice, you joined the right branch too. I'ma Flight Sergeant. I'm on the glider pilot scholarship course in Gimli at the moment :)

What parades have you attended?
Any Duke of Ed' awards?
Training level when you left?
Any family/friend involvement in cadets?

All citizens are processed unless otherwise authorized. Scanners can ID a citizen within seconds based upon dozens of body proportions. Technology similar to this already exists in prototype military unmanned base defense devices.
Completly ignore the fingerprint thing - He said it to make a point, but few people seem to understand it.

What time of day to you poop?
Ever been involved with the cadet program?
Time in CG?
Do you remember that one time, a long time ago on the origonal C45, when you shot me dozens of times with a pulse rifle from observer for not S2Ming in a mugging?
What do you think of me?
Tease tease for a new map you're making?

-Approach speed in a glider is 1.3x stall speed + winds.
-Wingtip vortices move down and out.
-The Vne in a 2-33A is 98mph.
-To recover from an insipiant spin: neutralize the controls, apply full opposite rudder, gently start to nose up, and apply spoilers if approaching Vne.
-The international distress frequency is 121.5MHz
-Most ELT's broadcast on 406MHz.
-The commonwealth military distress frequency is 243MHz.
