Suggestions / 97.7
« on: May 13, 2013, 11:28:15 PM »
Can we please have 97.7 back on the radio? Every genre other than a few I can think of are covered by the radio, except the general top 40. 97.7 was previously used and quite nice to listen to.. and even with minimal ads.

    • Do not arrest, tase or handcuff individuals for random purposes.
    • Obey ethical commands from police chief, the dispatcher, the mayor and S.W.A.T. in command of a crime scene.
    • Respond only to calls in which you are dispatched to.
    • Do not use the police radio for common talk and/or metagaming.

    • Only use your light bar and siren if required.
    • Obey the laws in place.

    Getting Started:
Information on how to get started as a police officer.

To become a police officer you must first know how to be a police officer. Seeing as you are reading this guide, you should be ready. Next you must make your way down to the Nexus, as pictured below. Following this, meet the police NPC pictured below as well.

Click to see the original size. Click to see the original size.

Following your recruitment into the police force, beginners are suggested to partner with a more experienced player for learning purposes. However the next step is to get a vehicle. This can be found in the garage underneath the Nexus, via. the elevator beside the police NPC. Go to the garage and speak to this NPC to get a patrol vehicle.

That's it, you are all set! But be sure to read the rest of the guide for useful information.

    Job Description:
All jobs have a description, the job of a police officer is no different! Below is a general summary of the policing experience.

A police officer's job is to keep the streets calm, safe and crime free. Patrolling, monitoring traffic, listening to the dispatcher's requests and remaining on standby are key aspects in a day of a police officer's job. While you are to keep the streets safe and crime free, refrain from using too many police resources to do so. This includes police time and effort as five police officers are not needed for a red light infraction. Effort should further not be spent on protecting the mayor as there are other government officials who's job is to do just that!

    Your Purpose:
Your purpose as a police officer in OCRP2.

Your purpose as a police officer as mentioned before is to keep the streets calm, safe and crime free. You are to respond to the calls that the dispatcher has sent your way and deal with them, from a legal point of view. Calm and order is a great asset to the city of Evocity, something your job is to establish and protect. Your purpose is not limited to the streets however, domestic disputes, search raids and diverting the public from dangers are all part of a days work too!

    Job Specific Commands and Controls:
A list of job specific commands and controls, as a police officer.

Lights and Sirens: While in a police vehicle as the driver, SHIFT  or ATTACK2 is to toggle the light bar while, Q is to toggle the siren. While approaching intersections, use ALT or ATTACK1 for your alternate siren and notify traffic of your presence.

Police Radio: There are two forms of the Police Radio. Vocal (microphone) and Text. To use the Vocal Police Radio, press T to toggle your radio, then speak as you would normally with a microphone. To use the Text Police Radio, type /radio prior to your message.

Fining: While an individual is out of the vehicle press F3. A fining menu will open up and you can enter a reason and amount there.

Police Computer: While looking at a police vehicle, press F2. This computer will allow you to request warrants, find property owners and check vehicle owners based upon the license plate number.

    Police Ranking:
Ranking of police officers, based upon police game play experience.

    Recruit: (0-2hrs)
    • Level 1 pistol
    • Cannot spawn car (V.I.P./Gold exempt).
    • Zip ties, not handcuffs.

    • Police shotgun.
    • Can spawn Dodge.
    • Can spawn SUV (Gold/V.I.P. only).

    • Police Shotgun.
    • Police SMG.

    Relevant Job Information:
Information relevant to being a police officer in OCRP2.

    Government Resupply:
In event of a glitch where a police radio is lost or dropped, or an officer runs out of ammo, this is the thing you will want. Located in the nexus, simply opening the locker will resupply you with the basic tools of being a police officer. Located inside may be additional items to help you in your policing services such as road spikes for pursuits, and shotguns for raids.

Click to see the original size.

    Arresting:
When arresting civilian, the detained civilian must be transported to the Nexus for booking. Only at this time can you use the handcuffs to the full extent (left click) and have the civilian start their sentence.

    Communication with the Dispatcher:
Communication with the Dispatcher is key. Always inform the dispatch of your unit number followed by your situation and location. The Dispatcher's job is to dispatch the required Emergency Service personnel around the city, depending on the situation. Your location call can be the difference of life and death for you or a civilian.[/list]

    Suggestions / Emergency Services Overhaul
    « on: April 24, 2013, 07:09:42 PM »
This suggestion is being suggested to boost the practicality of the dispatcher and police computers.

Unit Number & Status Section of Police Computer
When a player joins a government job they are prompted with a menu asking them to select a unit number; this number is then displayed beside their names in the radio (beside name when typed or in their name when spoke) and in the proposed new section of the police computer. This new section would show player submitted statuses on their current actions (perhaps predetermined with a drop list or manual typing). This will allow the dispatcher to see if Unit 2-20 is patrolling and free to respond to a 911 call or another situation. The main reason for the unit numbers would be to allow the dispatcher and other units to quickly contact other officers without clogging up the radio.
This idea would require Fire and EMS units to be allowed to use the 'Emergency Services' computer, with the registration search disabled.

    Turn off Emergency Services Radio
There are situations when listening to the police radio while dealing with a situation can be deadly and/or annoying. (I have personally witnessed police officers turn off their radios in real life). Allowing these players to turn off the radio would be a great addition to OCRP2. Given the fact that not having the radio on can also be dangerous, notifications should be displayed warning the officer, and the dispatchers should have a command to alert units of an emergency via a command in the 'Emergency Services' computer or a chat command.

    Suggestions / 911
    « on: April 24, 2013, 08:13:48 AM »
I suggest that if there is a dispatcher online, 911 calls should only be directed towards them. This allows for dispatchers to try and dispatch one or more units as applicable to the call.

Another suggestion would be the dispatcher having priority over the radio. (This means all units radio transmissions are blocked out when the dispatcher starts talking.) This will allow the dispatcher to be heard with out the cluster-fuck of radio spam.

Reason I suggest this is I had no control as dispatcher over the units. 10 units would respond to a domestic disturbance...

    Introductions / Hello
    « on: November 05, 2011, 04:35:49 PM »
So, compared to some I am relatively new here compared to many of you and although I have been playing quite a bit on OCRP (and already been asked if I was admin) I don't know all the people I feel I should.

So I felt I should post a thread to get to know everyone. Keep in mind this doesn't all have to be about in game, this could be your personal life too. (If you feel comfortable sharing.)

    I'll go first;
I am Infamous (Simmons) and I usually play on the OCRP, although I have tried HL2RP. I am 15 years old and live in Ontario, Canada. When I am not playing GMOD I am either doing homework, at school or playing/practicing Canadian Football with my team.

    You try...
